I am of the belief that Renee and Kouryu and Anryu were pointless additions to the cast who's only real role was fanservice. it doesn't help there case that you had to read some book to know more about them.

Sir, I will meet you with pistols at dawn. How dare you mock....... the...boob lights...........ok. you kind of have a point.
That being said, I still like them. And the duel is off.
i don't wann a get shot.
One Strip! One Strip!I thought they were pretty cool. They filled the Dark/Light robot spots well, I think.
Though, I was kind of expecting one of them to faceplant during a landing... well, one does in Super Robot Wars, but still.
This would be an oxymoron to the vast majority of both Western and Eastern Otaku.
Fanservice isn't a convincing way to make the audience care about characters. it's true Renee had a back story, but it was not developed to the degree the rest of the cast was who appeared in the TV series. Instead they just give Renee a ton of fanservice scenes as opposed to actual development, and the only reason one would care about her arc is because of Soldat J.
I personally agree with you on that but it seriously depends on which audience. I'd better not say any more on that.

I'm very much with you on that. They really should have been part of the series instead of being tossed into a short OVA.
I guess they were Fanservice not just in the normal way, but in the Hey Look! Here are those characters who only appeared in audio tapes before now type fanservice.
One Strip! One Strip! So, I'm bumping this back up with this
The Oath Sworn Through Courage. AMV version.
I really suck at embedding.
Fortunately this video is awesome. Enjoy.

One Strip! One Strip! You know, I always thought the Perfect Yell version would've been better if he yelled GAOGAIGAR at the moment the song did, instead of just before...
Gao Gai Gar is the love child of Neon Genesis Evangelion and Gurren Lagann. Eva being the mother, of course. TTGL was missing in action for ten years, hence why we didn't know about it.
I made a fanfic thread for this, if anyone wants to check it out.
Actually, while there wasn't an anime made for Saint of Braves Baan Gaan, there apparently was a videogame for it, called "Brave Saga" for the ps1. No prizes for guessing on where it is.
Of course, that game also had a sequel called Brave Saga 2 (not to mention tossing in other Sunrise series for good measure).
Speaking of games, Fighbird had some shmups for the Famicom and Game Boy, though they are pretty simplistic. Still, I find it interesting that it's the only part of the franchise to get the standalone licensed game treatment outside of crossovers, a privilege that even Gao Gai Gar never got.

Gao Gai Gar had a game. It wasn't very good outside of some cutscenes though from what I've heard.
Blockaded Numbers, right?
Blockaded Numbers for PS 1 is one of them, there's actually another game in the form of a somewhat sudoku-style image puzzle game called Oekaki Puzzle Battle ~Yushaoh Gao Gai Gar hen~ (Drawing Puzzle Battle ~King of Braves Gao Gai Gar~) for the NDS.
So...I'm in the mood to try some other Brave Series shows beyond Gaogaigar.
Anyone got some suggestions?
One Strip! One Strip!I'd recommend Brave Police J-Decker.
Fly Gundam! Autobots ROLL OUT! COWABUNGA/BOOYAKASHA!!Sweet. That's the other series with a Ninja Police Car isn't it?
One Strip! One Strip! The King of Braves Returns in GaoGaiGar/Betterman Web Manga
The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.Say it with me... Victory goes to...
Wake me up at your own risk.....
....THE COURAGEOUS!!!!
Or alternatively....
I've been waiting....FOR THIS MOMENT!!!!
One Strip! One Strip!Seeing this tweet made me realize...the Brave Series is gonna celebrate its 20th Anniversary soon.
EDIT: Correction, the BRAVE SAGA games will celebrate their 20th Anniversary, the Brave Series will celebrate its 30th!

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.
If I had one beef with Gaogaigar, it's that Koryu and Anryu didn't get any role in the TV series (they were around at the time, they just didn't appear until Final).
I would have liked to see more of those two. The Brave Series didn't have any female bots, and the first two in the series history deserved more than 8 eps to strut their stuff......
and go topless.
