Atrocitus grabbed the axe blade of, through his eyes, a Manhunter charging towards him in his hand before it could strike him. He then saw Maria on the floor whimpering as Roixaeume held the vampire hunter by the neck and accused him of seducing her as he did once long ago. The Red Lantern responded by silently kicking the Inversion off as hard as he could. The Red Lanterns saw his options were running dangerously thin as his own hallucinations were starting to become more contextually and harder to ignore.

He tossed aside the Manhunter and attempted to summon his lantern......

"Oh." Said Sam, as the reverberations petered out along his arm. Bones on a unmanned gear, made from something hard enough to turn away Murasama but flexible enough not to shatter from the impact. No muscle fibres inside, just a bundle of chorded wires and dramatic sparks. Someone was trying out a new model.

On the off-chance the cannonball was made of the same stuff, Sam vaulted out of harm's way with a powerful flex of his CNT assisted thighs, raking his sword along the thing's arm in the hopes of severing something important. Hopefully the designer hadn't been smart enough to put the power cables and nerves inside the bones.

The smile was still on his lips as he landed. The head-on approach was right out; if this thing had bones in its arms, they'd probably gone all-out when they got around to designing the protection around the vital bits and pieces. On the plus side they'd decided to make it shoot cannonballs out of its mouth, and that made him happy on a level deeper than any bloodlust could reach, but the fact remained: he needed a different strategy. Something to cripple it without putting himself in harm's way for too long...

Well, he had the walking jail sentence and the Queen of Eyebrows, and neither of them seemed to be having much trouble staying alive. That gave him a distraction, or maybe just people to hack away from odd angles and pray this thing had AI advanced enough to get sloppy when it was distracted. Anger would have been even better, but he wasn't going to put many bets on that happening. It he'd looked like that thing, he wouldn't have stopped being happy for anything.

So he fixed the red-highlight girl with a meaningful glance and a wolf-whistle to grab her attention, jerking his chin towards the Freedombot in what he hoped was a universal message: Let's do some incredibly honourable double-teaming.

Out of his crouch he went straight into a sprint. Taking a two-handed grip on Murasama, he put himself behind the mech in a flurry of light, nimble strides, making sure he was on the opposite side to his scantily-clad ally before closing the gap. There'd only be time for one strike before dancing back a few feet, the unmanned gear being too heavily armed and armoured for anything else to work, but he felt confident he could make it count.

When he hit it was simple, an arcing swordstroke to the ankle lent extra momentum by his charge.

Icarax

Icarax skidded to a halt on the hangar floor, what remained of the fake Archon hit the floor and vanished. He had been made a fool of; humiliated by the most disgustingly insipid fighting force he had ever known.

The Eldar had just managed to piss him off.

Unlike the Necron from earlier, Icarax had little respect for these sniveling wimps that snubbed him at every turn. Not one would leave the hangar alive he promised himself. Not even One.

Beside Icarax there was suddenly a 'clink' and a hiss. Icarax turned and was surprised with being suddenly enveloped in a cloud of the most noxious gas. The gas was not only a biological attack, it for some reason had potent psychic properties. Due to the nature of his existence, Icarax felt the disturbance keenly.

He blinked....and suddenly he was looking right back at a very familiar image. Pariah.....

I Am Death's Hand, And Death Sees Through Me. It Sees You, Icarax, And It Will Have You.

And in the background....all the brethren he had murdered clamoring for his death.

...

enough

The illusion shattered as Icarax' mind ripped it to pieces and spat on what was left. He did not fight his way through half a city full of miscreants, duel with his most powerful opponent to date only to be brought low by a handful of arrogant gnats. A ripple of shadow tore away the cloud of Horrefex around the Makuta, revealing the Master of Shadows in all his fury.

Idiots.

The shadows of the room began to dance, began to....turn to a fine black mist.

Icarax stretched out his arms and as if on que the dark mist swirled to greet him. I swirled around him at first but then began to condense on his body. Slowly then, the once red armor on Icarax began to turn black, dark as a night without stars and moon.

Icarax pointed a single finger at one of the flying crafts carrying the Horrefex wielding Eldar. Shadow bubbled out at the tip and swirled to form a tiny ball of absolute darkness.

"Disappear"

With a deafening screech, the ball of darkness formed a line through the air that bisected the Eldar Aircraft. Shadow energy so condensed and so powerful turned to dust those that happened to be in its way.

Armani had remained stationary between Elsa and the rest for a while, as they explained themselves, but had greatly loosened up as he had long since identified that they weren't threatening the duo.

He took in their words quietly, frowning. "That was not what I would refer to as a stellar and motivating explanation. He did react, however, to Loki, giving him a highly surprised and inquisitive look as he named himself. He mentally tried to place him in his head....wasn't that the norse pantheon? He had never been too educated on them.

Before he could question Shantatto further, the door opened and 3 of the oddest characters Armani had ever seen; he was so bemused by this point that he couldn't even muster up a quip about Dandy's decisively elvis-ish appearance — though it was certainly a well earned name.

By this point Armani's guard had been completely destroyed by the absurdity of his situation, his bow hanging slack in his now equally slack arm. He only just barely avoiding gaping at everyone, and the pressure in his forehead was not helping things.

"Alright, HOLD on." He raised his hands in a 'stop' gesture at everyone. "You say we need to go acquire an object here, but what's to stop us from refusing?"

~I imagine there's no getting back if we don't.~

Armani paused. "Actually, forget that; it's probably something along the lines of 'we can't go back and will die here if we don't', am I correct? Speaking of dying, did you just say that we shall resurrect should we die here? I think that deserves more than a passing mention, lady.

He glanced over at the 3 odd newcomers. "And where are you all from? Do you live in this universe? Were you abducted like us? On that note, where in hades are we." He folded his arms. "I believe Elsa put it very fairly; you haven't told us much of use, and instead all I've seen here is infighting. If you have time to beat each other around, you have time to explain this better."

He tapped a finger on his bicep. "Not that I mind seeing this self-declared god get taken down a notch, make no mistake." He wasn't terribly pleased with what he had said about Elsa.

Cringing at the sound of the Statue of Liberty's head turning on the surface of the platform, Ryuko pulled out her scissor off of the metal hand and jumped back to the edge of the platform, immediately covering her ears from the unpleasant sound. Between the Muramasa's scent and the sounds coming from the platform, the combined assault on Ryuko's two senses distracted her from the incoming danger coming from the head itself. The head opened its mouth and fired one large black ball directly at Ryuko. Senketsu widened his eye as the projectile fired.

Ryuko! Take a dive!    he shouted when Ryuko opened her eyes and saw the ball heading right towards her. She sidestepped the ball at the ladt minute and then nodded over at the Celestial as she made a barrier to block the projectile. "That was too close..." she muttered to Senketsu, holding the scissor at the head, which turned after firing a cannon ball at Satsuki and Sam, who, Ryuko noted still had that shit eating grin on his face even in the middle of the battle. She heard him whistle over to her and made a gesture over to the robot. She looked at him with confusion, then watched as he made a dash over to her then over to the robot. She went for a dash to the robot as well, thinking that he meant for them to double team the robot.

When the horrorfex gas grenade struck, Rayman instinctively held his breath, but even that didn't stop the full affects the gas. All around him, he begins to see bright yellow eyes and smiles filled with sharp, murderous teeth staring right at him. And before him, in all his nightmarish glory, floated the one and only Mr. Dark. ''You will fall here, Rayman. And then, the Glade will succumb to my nightmares!" As he said that, the disembodied faces began laughing cruel laughs as the sounds of screaming filled the room.

Rayman, however, was determined not to give in to the nightmares, and even as plagued by nightmares as he was, Rayman knew one thing. That gas had to go, no matter what. Concentrating as much as he could against the nightmares, Rayman lowered his head, and his two blond fronds of hair began to spin around much like a fan. Fighting against the nightmare and ignoring the words of his archnemesis, his hair kept spinning, creating a strong gust of wind, that pushed the horrerfex gas away from from him and his teammates.

With the gas gone, Rayman was able to think easier, and he terrified to see his teammates in various states of terror and panic. Luckily, Rayman had just the power to counteract the nightmarisn affects of the gas. Standing where everyone could see him, he stretched his mouth out with his hands, wagged his tounge out, rolled his eyes, and invoked the power of the Leptys. The sheer ridiculousness of the silly face he was making, plus the Leptys' power, would snap them all out of their horrified trances.

Magic

-Seeing its companion so utterly destroyed, the remaining Ravager turns tail, only changing course to pluck Seiga from the air before heading into the spire. From the shadows under the ship's Seekers, pale arms reach out and grab them, soon leaving only the abandoned Raider, Icarax and Atrocitus.-

-In the spire, the Seekers find themselves in a vast hall, crowds of Dark Eldar both masked and bearing Vhane's face looking at them from a safe distance, the Ravager depositing Seiga onto the floor with them before flying off.-

-The hideous phantoms of She Who Thirsts fade from Kharak's vision, curiously replaced by a nonsensical vision of a grinning creature and a pulling sensation on his arms. He looks up, ony to wish he were still seeing Slaaneshi horrors: his Archon stands before him, features twisted by rage. Vhane grabs him by the hair to spit in his face.-

"Spare the mon-keigh, Lord Vhane!" "They may be of use, Lord Vhane!". I believe those were your words, Kharak?

My l-

And let me see, two Ravager crews lost, one destroyed, and now a metal abomination set loose on my spires, all thanks to your monumental, your astounding incompetence!

I-

I had you slowly executed for failure. I daresay you can imagine the fate I reserve for betrayal. Ayom and Makhriv will be delighted, they will be the first in Commorragh to apply their considerable skill to a previous victim of theirs.

-Vhane turns his head, noticing the remaining Seekers.-

Ah, I see your mistress is in our hands again. Evidently your suffering does not apply to her, let us see if the reverse holds true, hmmm?

Lord Vhane, if-

Eldarith Ynneas, consorting, submitting to mon-keigh. And for what? To sneak into the Dark City, steal some petty trinket from one of the lesser houses, and run back to another primate to cavort with. I should end you myself to erase the stain on our race!

They- they are here to kill Vect!

-There is utter silence after Kharak's desperate outburst.-

Kill... Vect. Ahah. Your stay among the dead has given you a most entertaining sense of humor, Kharak. Most misplaced as well.

-Dropping the jiangshi, Vhane strides over to the Seekers on the floor.-

Your puppet tells me you are not here to steal, but to take Vect's life. The Supreme Overlord of Commorragh, to whom we all owe respect and obedience in exchange for his... faultless... protection. Is this the case?

-Kharak desperately nods at the Seekers. The Dark Eldar have far more unpleasant ways to gather truth, none of which he wishes to experience.-

Science

-Aurelia stares at the self-proclaimed non-ork extending his arm, then understands it must be a form of agreement to his species. She too extends her arm, lightly touching his hand before jumping onboard the Raider, the crew returning to their posts.-

Then it is agreed.

-The rest of the Dark Eldar get to the ships, both theirs and unmarked. Soon all the skimmers are hovering, arranging themselves to escort Aurelia's transport.-

Come, humans. And orks. If we are to succeed, we must waste little time.

-The orks look to the mekboss, who shrugs and gets on the Raider. The spikepanzees aren't trying to kill them, and don't seem inclined to do so for now as long as they kill a different spikepanzee, a good enough proposition even without the promise of looting and pillaging.-

When she was picked up, Seiga's response had been to mutter curses under her breath. Being grabbed had helped jolt her back to reality however, so there was a bit of relief mixed in with the other emotions, not that she let it show. Now that she was being questioned again, her scowl gave way to a polite smile. Getting up to her feet and dusting herself off, she responded.

"Hmm? What would you do to him if I said he was lying? Nevermind, I can wager a guess. He's telling the truth, we are here to kill Vect. He has something we want. Now then, how does that factor into your plans?"

Both Rayman and Icarax had successfully managed to dispel the gas, while Rayman made such a ridiculously funny face that merely looking at the dispelled the psychological effect. Though he did not show it, the Red Lantern was extremely impressed. However, strange shadows suddenly sprung up and kidnapped everyone else before just as suddenly vanishing. The only ones whom were left were himself and Icarax.

With no one around, Atrocitus quickly summoned his Lantern and began to recharge......

The Red Lantern dispelled his power battery. Right now he faced a dilenma.....he could try to find the map piece by himself, but he would be ridiculously outnumbered, and he doubted he would be able to have a second chance to recharge in the meantime. He could try to find his fellow teammates because unlike his fellow Red Lanterns they could not take care of themselves and all of them minus Seiga sustained severe injuries, Maria being outright crippled, but that would take for too long and they could be anywhere on this feast for the Butcher realm.

Thanks to Rayman, Maria was soon roused from her nightmares, but had shifted to glaring intently at Vhane. She looked particularly peeved off to have experienced mind-altering effects first-hand. Maria snorted in displeasure as she sat there, all of them apparently captives of these Dark Eldar.

"What Kharak says is true, we told him everything when Seiga rose him," Maria said, still somewhat seething in anger. "If you must know, Icarax is not our ally, but he was able to fight off that empty wrong thing that was at the center of the arena."

"You had no chance to win him over," Maria noted to Vhane, still angry. "It is your own pride against his and he can back up his pride."

"In any case, what do you want with us now that you know we are out to kill Vect?" Maria snorted out disapprovingly again, but did see that Atrocitus was not with them as well. "We are your captives and we are not in any condition to fight back because of the ambush of those undead."

Dandy, QT and Meow. Not the weirdest names Fletcher had heard. He worked with Skulduggery Pleasant, after all. And one of his predecessors was called Trope Kessel. What the hell was a trope anyway?
Fletcher teleported ahead, into the hotsprings area. It actually was a Japanese hotspring. He had been on his way to Tokyo with the Monster Hunters before this. They all really deserved a break after all that had happened. The War, Ravel's betrayal, Ghastly, Anton, Valkyrie-
He turned his mind away from it. There would be time to mourn them later, Skulduggery would say. Though the emotional advice of a dead man wasn't the best, he had a point in this case. He couldn't get distracted now.
Turning to the new guys, he introduced himself: "Fletcher Renn."

Urza climbed aboard the vessel and swiftly made his way aft towards the helm. Finding a place to sit down that let him put his back to a bulkhead, he took out the crystal fragment he had recovered and let a trickle of mana flow into the delving enchantments in his sleeves, letting him perceive the object in many different ways. He could best prepare for battle by analyzing the Dark Eldar weaponry and thinking of ways to give them an edge. Already, thoughts were forming.

They seem highly mobile at the cost of durability. Any way of immobilizing them will greatly aid us. They are using projectile-based weaponry, but it is not chemical such as Hood's is, I heard no detonations. Some sort of gravitic acceleration device, then to propel these crystals to killing velocity. Possibly magnetic. Finding the right harmonic will deal with the crystal and magnetic fields will stop anything else. Then there was the hallucinogenic gas. There is not much to be done about that, but a premptive ward against fear might help. And if we are in midair, the grenades will have nothing to land on and we may thus avoid them. Flight would be useful in a multitude of cases. And so on, his thoughts went, gears turning.

Icarax

Icarax watched Atrocitus recharge his ring. Though it helped explain many things about the beast Icarax was really not interested. The beast was but one more obstacle in his way, though, he may prove more useful alive than dead.

But then, perhaps dead would be nice too.

Yes, kill the beast so that he may know what he faced. They had slandered him to his face, told him that they had conquered death. Their ignorance was disgusting. They must know what stood before them- who he was. They will know Icarax, the one who fought even death and lived to tell the tale to the living. They slandered him who should have bowed the knee....

With the heavy clanking of feet, Icarax strode towards the Red Lantern with deliberate steps. There was one last thing this beast was useful for.

"Tell me, beast...."

Icarax looked Atrocitus in the eye, he was close enough to do that now, within arms length. A fierce and wild fire burned in his eyes that would be unnerving even for the red Lantern.

"Why, are. you. Here?"

Elsa

All she could do is look from oddity to another. She thought she was lost before, she knew better. This was like nothing she'd ever imagined; not that her imagination could have ever suggested a setting so...so....weird. She was not amused by what the smug man did to the boy with the strange hair and neither was she impressed when he did tell her his name: Loki. She knew the name- a god of norse mythology.

In all sincerity she was expecting someone a little more god-like.

Not that she'd ignore the insults aimed at her. Whatever he was he was good at getting on your nerves. God of mischief indeed, she wished she could turn him to a block of ice and see what he had to say afterwards- she was certainly not baggage. A tingle ran down her arm as she prepared to.....

Elsa's eyes widened a fraction as she realised what she had almost done.

Conceal, don't feel...

Her face returned to normal and betrayed nothing of the battle inside. Her eyes flicked from one person to the other, taking in information, keeping herself distant from the actual situation. For now she reasoned, her best chance of getting anywhere is to stay silent; after all, she was still in the dark about many things.

Icarax walked up to Atrocitus and looked at the Ryutian straight in the eye. The Red Lantern was unnerved, but not for reason the Makuta would believe. Within Icarax's eyes Atrocitus saw flames of justified arrogance. Flames of intense hatred. Flames of the burning passion to utterly destroy everything in his path.......

The only thing he ever saw with such eyes having command over the Darkness so profoundly was Nekron.........

It was but a memory. A profound memory, but only a memory. The Red Lantern would not like feel anything if not for that memory......

"See that distance light emanating from the there?" he said to Icarax pointing to the pillar of light. "It is beacon, showing the way to an item of extreme importance. By itself it is worthless and has no power, but it is a part of a greater whole that will lead to a weapon which can threaten the very fabric of reality. And it is now in the clutches of probably the one person least deserving of it."

Icarax

Intense hatred, yes, but not so much a desire to destroy everything though that thought was beginning to take root. The flame that burned in Icarax was the will to lay low every tall mountain, so that the survivors would bend the knee.

But the vision quickly passed as Icarax stepped past the Red Lantern to gaze upon the shining pillar of light in the distance. How ironic he thought, that for someone who so hated light to have light as his freedom. He promised himself that when he did eventually meet the being behind this well hidden joke, he would deal him such a punch to the face as ever to be equaled.

Meanwhile he still had the beast to deal with. What sort of reward shall the thing get for showing him the way out? Death seemed good. Too good. Perhaps pain, but pain was...too trivial.

"And this object....."

Even if 'the way out' weren't the Red-wielder's exact words it still meant so much. It was a bargaining chip of sorts and yet, Icarax did not feel like bargaining. Why should he not keep the object, whatever it was, or better yet, destroy it? If this object insisted on using light as a beacon then Icarax would have to mend it's ways.

The beast had not yet told all, Icarax knew that since he had questions unanswered but this was enough for the present. The beast was no longer useful; Icarax could get the rest easily enough.

"least deserving...? and you think that you deserve it? how utterly foolish. But, you won't get it so, I see that I am wasting my breath."

Icarax turned from the ledge and gave Atrocitus a parting glance.

"Be wise and disappear, rage wielder. Disappear before death finds you."

With a great sweep of his wings, Icarax leapt from the ledge and shot up into the Commoragh sky, his outline swiftly melting into the darkening clouds.
