Ok.
If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul. You're more likely to see them wearing the headscarves but otherwise typically American clothes than a cowboy get up. Well, the women anyway. The young guys... dress like any other young guy. Though I don't really know if they're Muslim or just Arab, but there's lots of them going to the community college I'm currently attending. They act like most anyone else, really.
I'm a North American Muslim. >.> Is that close enough?
Ace: Heh, sometimes not even the hijab (headscarf). :P
ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖅ ᐊᑕᐅᓯᖅ ᓈᒻᒪᔪᐃᑦᑐᖅYeah, I'll see the crowds and only about half of them are wearing those. And they're most times not even black, and never covering the face. *shrug* Which just makes me more confused about why people are worried about the terrorists or whatever dumb anti-Muslim thing I hear them spouting. The ones where I live seem to be Americanizing fairly well, or grew up here. I'm going with grew up here, going by accent.
My guess? Taking a highly vocal minority and generalizing the group they're a part of like crazy. :P The muslim terrorists are sort of like the Lord's Resistance Army of Islam.

ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖅ ᐊᑕᐅᓯᖅ ᓈᒻᒪᔪᐃᑦᑐᖅMy fireteam leader when I was in the Marines was an American Muslim in Texas. Great guy. He indulged the curiosity of others and was very patient with our lack of understanding. He vehemently hated the violence of Muslim extremists with a fervor I found almost shocking.
Who watches the watchmen?I'd imagine seeing people using your religion as an excuse to harm others and being the source of a lot of stereotypes in the west makes you a bit angry. :P

ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖅ ᐊᑕᐅᓯᖅ ᓈᒻᒪᔪᐃᑦᑐᖅIndeed. Furious would be the word I used. He prayed when he could, fasted when he could, and avoided pork. Washed his feet/boots before praying etc. Never got in the way and the majority of us never knew. The problem was certain elements in the Military wanted to have him removed from our unit for being Muslim. Thankfully the Gunny and the Co told them they could go rot. Something was mentioned if they tried we would send the Reaction Team out to say hello :P
Who watches the watchmen?Hehe. :3
ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖅ ᐊᑕᐅᓯᖅ ᓈᒻᒪᔪᐃᑦᑐᖅSounds like the corps. So what if he's a Muslim, first of all he's a Marine.
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.Which is why they told the element of command to go pound sand. Something about unlawful orders and the like. Phone calls were made threats military and legal were exchanged and the military lawyers and pencil pushers pointed out that Mar For Res command couldn't touch him as he had done nothing wrong. There was an interview from some Legal aspect non-jag and the whole thing was dropped.
The few muslim Americans I have met are very much like him. There was on exception though and it was in college. It involved innappropriate celebration in public on a specific day.
Who watches the watchmen?Note that the stereotype "Muslim from a No Woman's Land in a civilized country" does exist, I just overheard one. Talked out loud on his cell phone about how he would import himself some Algerian wives using a technique not unlike anchor babies, and praising how Algerian wives were supposedly faithful. Note that he actually talked of them as unnamed "wives" or "women" (it's the same word in French), as if they were objects.
Oh, and he said his plan would work inshallah. If Allah is actually the not-actually-a-prick that moderate Muslims say He is, He should smite this guy where he stands and let his soul be eaten by 72 Slaaneshi daemonettes.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Meh, to each his own; let him worship however he chooses.
You seem to have missed the point. I don't hate that unknown person for worshipping a God I don't, I hate him for his views on women that I deem harmful to them.
...And for assuming the God of a major religion thinks it's A-OK, and hiding behind that thought.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."But if his views on women stem from his religion, who are you to take issue with it? You don't plan on marrying him do you?

If they did actually stemmed from his religion, that would mean Islam was actually a Religion of Evil and all the work done for tolerance would have been for naught.
So he just remembers the parts of Islam that are convenient to him to justify his planned possession of sapient beings.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Just like people of other faiths pick and choose the aspect of their religion that they want to abide by.
Yep. It's more of a gut feeling, I just think it's more despicable to do something I personally think is very bad (I don't see such women being in a happy marriage) than, say, break a religious prohibition on food/alcohol. But beyond that, I don't know how to explain logically why I think it's bad.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Chalk it up to a gut feeling. there re plenty of cultures/religions out there that do all kinds of unacceptable shit, but that's how the world works. Unfortunately we can't be like the Draka.
I think that it's safe to say that the guy would be a dick no matter what religion he followed. He just happens to be a Muslim and a dick, instead of a Christian and a dick, or a Jew and a dick, or a Hindu and a dick.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Is it me, or do you rarely see and Buddhist dicks?
I hear Muslims sacrifice Christian children to Baphomet.
I also hear that they think we sacrifice Muslim children to Moses, so that's okay, I guess.
And better than thy stroke; why swellest thou then?
I haven't really interacted with a lot of Muslims but my mom has a friend that I met once and she was nice.I am just saying that American Muslisms like American Christians come in different shapes and all that stuff.
I think would be fun to see a Muslim from Texas fit the cowboy stereotype.
