See? Making noise DOES work.
That's better, but "to enforce EA's legal rights" can still be interpreted in many ways and DRM doesn't really count as Spyware.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelSo...um, Origin got cracked and people are now able to abuse it and start dling games for free from the system (and go on multiplayer etc).
Definitely not going to link to this but now I'm worried that EA is just going to use this as an excuse to make an even more invasive spyware-esque system.
Yeesh, I can just see it now.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelSo revised EULA = internet based pirate alarm system for stolen products?
Troper PageI... don't know whether I still want to side with the proletariat with things like this becoming more and more common nowadays.
I dunno, could be some cracker who stumbled onto something.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific Mackerel. . . How is this even possible? There's no way to crack something like Steam, is there? What makes Origin different?
That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulWell there is a patch floating around in the net I don't know if it works, but at least they tried.
I think there were some buggy games where you could:
- acquire the on-disc content of another Steam game by some means (illegal download, lending your computer to a guy who bought it, etc.)
- overwrite the buggy game with the other one, rename other.exe to buggy.exe
- run the buggy game from Steam, you're now playing the other one.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Yeah, Steam's had more time to improve compared to Origin, I believe.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelOnly true assholes would try to crack Steam. That's like punching Sweet Baby Jesus.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."Well, thats mean that there are hundred of assholes, mostly of them assholes with the excuse of "DRM is bad" sure it is, but not good enough excuse

http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/I would have no problem if Steam were to go down forever beginning tomorrow, honestly.
There is a big difference between being opposed to DRM and actually stealing games through digital means...
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. But you arent everyone,
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/Sure there is, but the former is often used as justification for the latter regardless of whether that's logical or not.
This and the fact that the general EA Privacy Policy trumps the Origin Privacy Policy are keeping me too paranoid to use it. I hope that this gets resolved before SWTOR comes out, or at least that you won't need the Origin client to run it.
@Emptyeye: I would because then I wouldn't be able to access the games I downloaded through Steam ever again.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter! As noted in the Sony thread, expect to see that clause in every TOS and EULA going forward. Honestly, with such a powerful bludgeon to wield against consumers, any corporation that doesn't use it is incredibly stupid.
