Unless you mean a fanfic, never gonna happen. Takeuchi and Urobuchi never could work together on anything; I see the later considering the former a shallow sellout, and the former thinking of the latter as simply disgusting or creepy.

My assumption, from what I have seen of their personalities in interviews and the like. I doubt they'd have any working chemistry, at least. It's like trying to get Michael Bay and David Cronenberg in the same movie.

Considering who she married, I don't think Takeuchi would find Urobuchi as creepy as you think she would, NDC.

... Would it help if I said that I envisioned the crossover as involving the Sailor Moon cast being Big Damn Heroes to the Madoka Magica cast?

[up][up] No, no we won't.

It's basically become this generations Sailor Moon as far as popularity is concerned.

Besides, Sailor Moon the manga, despite being the Original Sentai Eseque Magical Girl anime, was an Unbuilt Trope in that many of Madoka's themes are actually revistings of the darker theme of the final battle of the manga. Destroy Chaos and the Galaxy cauldron and save the universe, only for Entropy to take hold and cause the universe to die, or merely let chaos off with a warning and seal him away, only to endanger billions of lives in the future.

[up] Which becomes quite the Irony, that, If Sailor Cosmos had thought about destroying The galaxy cauldron, it would of given The Incubators even more reason for what they do....

I generally prefer the anime, and it's what I use to base my fanfics off of, however, I also enjoy the manga, as well as the live-action PGSM version. Probably the main reason I prefer the anime is its version of Crystal Tokyo and the way that it's more open to having the interpretation that Chibi-Usa is NOT 900 years old, but was born and conceived after the Deep Freeze ended, which would make her more of a "regular" child biologically and timewise. Because the idea of everyone aging extremely slowly to the point of someone being around 6 years old mentally for almost 900 years means that either she's an adult mentally in a child's body or else she (and possibly almost everyone else her "age" in manga Crystal Tokyo) is mentally and physically retarded to an extreme degree. The manga's version of Crystal Tokyo thus includes too much Fridge Horror and Fridge Logic for me, especially as someone who otherwise adores Chibi-Usa and "next gen" stories in general. I also prefer that the Starlights got more screentime in the anime, since I'm also a BIG fan of Taiki and to a lesser extent, Yaten. However, I do prefer the way that they are girls all the time in the manga, and Seiya is luckily less obnoxious to me in the manga. However, the anime's plot in Sailor Stars makes more sense to me than the Stars plot in the manga, which is very confusing with the whole issue of Sailor Cosmos and Chibi Chibi.

[up] Then once again it seems the conclusion is there's things a new adaptation should take from both, but completely following one or the other will likely highlight some gaping flaws.

I also think that the anime is funnier and has better and more humor in it, whereas the manga is darker and more dramatic, which isn't quite as enjoyable for me personally.

We'll see soon enough.

How far do you think they'll get and all?

When you think about it, the original Manga was supposed to end with the Dark Kingdom, so will the new series reflect that(like Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon did) or will it take elements from later arcs as well?

[up][up] I think my opinion is quite similar to yours. The humour is one of my favourite things.

[up] Season 1 is the best of the anime, and done right it would be awesome. Theoretically it should be easy to just adjust things so that they make more sense.

I would be happy with a completely new storyline provided it kept the tone of the original, but I'm not convinced that will work out.

I personally would more enjoy a new story, possibly a continuation story, simply because I would rather not have yet another version of the Dark Kingdom story unless it somehow includes the Outers and Chibi-Usa. I don't have anything against the first season/Dark Kingdom story, but I was disappointed that the live-action didn't include the other Senshi at least in some way, although I did like Sailor Luna. I would personally prefer it if the new anime at least included the Outers and Chibi-Usa eventually, to have the full set of Senshi, but that's just me.

Ironically, I'm not as fond of the Outers, particularly Pluto and Saturn, but I think that's partially the fault of them not having enough screentime to establish them as having human flaws like the others do (and actually have them make mistakes, especially Saturn who just has bad things happen to her but nothing that is really her fault, and the little we see of her in Stars, she's not weak and shy anymore so she's even more annoyingly perfect to me). That is one more area in which I think the manga does better, in giving Hotaru more focus outside of just being a pitiful host to Mistress 9, she is able to have more character flaws like being a bit of a smart-aleck in the Chibi-Usa diary story about the Hammer Price Shop (from the Stars manga). Or at least showing the hobbies and things that were mentioned in Naoko's official notes, like having Saturn enjoy reading and World History (said to be her favorite subject) or having Pluto be scared of cockroaches and show her love of clothing design, something that she could bond with Michiru over since it could also be considered an art form using clothing (like with Rarity from My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic).

And as long as I'm talking about things I'd like to see, even if they're not likely, I would like to have Chibi-Usa meet the Starlights, simply to have her and Taiki get at least a scene together because they're my two favorite Senshi. They do get to meet in at least one of the musicals, though.

I have a felling the new anime will have a better Animation budget then usual for a Toei Long Runner.

I also think that it will be a more direct adaptation of the manga with some the Adaptation Distilliation of the anime.

Besides, I want to see the final battle against Chaos in the Anime, plus see how much more insane the space battle against Galaxia was in the manga compared to the anime (Exploding planets by pointing at them, what the fuck? Not even Dragonball went that far, since they at least had to throw an energy blast to do so).

[up] I'm not so much sure it would be a bigger budget per se, its just that, even adjusting for inflation, advances in computer-assistance means that you tend to get more bang for your buck (or 100 yen as the case may be) these days.

Hey. I actually had somebody count how many times I could scream "HIT HER" at the screen during a transformation sequence. Several times. I got up to...forty-three, once, for one of the later-season transformations.

I'm still looking forward to it myself.

Haven't we moved on at all in terms of Transformation Sequences?

I mean I expect it to be less blatantly a free action but I guess that's covering up the plot hole rather than doing away with it.

I mean... We did get one lampshade exactly once I think where there's a monster apparently stunned by the transformation. But that's it. We have to assume ever other monster was struck dumb as well.

I'm pretty sure the transformations are quicker than we see on the screen most of the time. In the story about Haruka and Michiru's past together, it shows Michiru transforming into Sailor Neptune, and in that case, we see a turquoise light come out of her wand and it engulfs her and then she appears in her Senshi uniform. That's probably what it would look like to the characters in the story, they wouldn't necessarily see the added effects of her spinning around underwater like her transformation sequence shows. The transformation power emerging from their wands/brooches/whatever could also serve as a shield that protects a transforming Senshi.

Luckily, unlike the characters in Pretty Cure, the Sailor Senshi at least usually don't transform in front of their enemies, at least the ones who aren't just mooks. Probably because I got used to seeing the Senshi transform and THEN go find the monster and fight it, it kind of annoyed me at first with the way the Cures would often go run up to the danger in their civilian forms and THEN transform!

In other news, along with the release of a new Sailor Moon anime, there will be a new Artbook made that will be released in Japan, the US and five other countries at the same time in 2013:

http://kodanshacomics.com/kodansha-announces-2013-worldwide-release-of-sailor-moon-art-book/

It looks like it will have some pictures from the earlier set of art books along with new pictures.
