Yeah. It should really be the other way around.
Minako came first. Usagi is her Expy.
One Strip! One Strip!Probably because they share some traits in common (both are perky blondes who aren't good in school) and sometimes act in unison in the anime (a good example of this is the 3rd episode of the S season when they're both chasing after Haruka). There even was an episode in the S season where Minako used a disguise power to pretend to be Sailor Moon at a time when Usagi didn't have her transformation brooch. They do have some notable differences, though, for example, Usagi doesn't share Minako's volleyball skills or the same interest in wanting to be a pop idol. Also, Usagi has a (somewhat) steady boyfriend in Mamoru, while Minako is often shown lamenting her lack of a boyfriend, plus Usagi's personality is generally a bit meeker than Minako's and she's more prone to crying and getting scared of things (Minako is never called a "crybaby" the way Usagi is).
However, if one takes the manga into consideration, Minako came before Usagi because the Sailor V manga came first and then Sailor Moon was based off of her, and Sailor V's outfit has a similar color scheme to Sailor Moon's and they both have at least some attacks/powers with Moon symbolism (this is why Sailor Venus's first anime attack is "Crescent Beam" with a crescent moon symbol shown when she does it). People who call Minako "Usagi 2.0" that probably are basing that off of the anime, though, and might not be aware that Minako was actually created first.
Edit: on Sailor V coming before Sailor Moon.

It's also very likely why Venus already has fans and a film adaptation in the anime, Mythology Gag. She's one of the rare cases in any medium I've seen the original character and her finalized version made separate characters and are not only in the same continuity, but friends.
I like Minako has similar traits to Usagi, Moon really can get grilled by the team sometimes.
"No will to break."Mina-chan is kinda an everygirl; she's cute
I asked this on the Sailor Moon fanfic thread, but the thread seems to have little to no traffic these days.
It always kinda bugged me how Usagi and Mamoru decided that naming their daughter the exact same name as her mother was a good idea. Seriously, having two women with the name "Usagi Serenity Tsukino" is quote confusing — and no, the nickname "Chibiusa" doesn't really help that much, especially since it would be very weird to use once she becomes an adult. Does anyone know if there are fanfics out there where the author shares a similar grievance and decides to give her a different name, even if it's just a derivation (albeit sufficiently distinct) of Usagi's name (e.g. "Ko'usa"note or "Usami")?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. The Sailormoon Millennia Trilogy calls her "Usa-chan" as a teenager, so in that case you'd have "Usagi" and "Usa". I can't think of any other fanfics that I remember where she's given a notably different name like you mentioned, though.
Speaking of the name Ko'usa, the Parallel Sailor Moon short story gives Chibi-Usa a younger sister named Ko'usagi (usually written without the apostrophe). Seems like Usagi just wants to name all her kids after herself!

Yeah, I know about Usagi's non-canon second daughter... and if you want to accuse her of self-aggrandizement via naming her kids after herself, then you have to accuse the Inner Senshi of the same since in the same spin-off their daughters names are equally-unoriginal derivations of their respective mothers' own names (Ami Jr., Rei Jr., Mako, and Mina).
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I remembered after I made my post about the other Senshi's daughters in Parallel Sailor Moon and their equally unoriginal names and appearances, so yes, they share the same lack of originality in naming their daughters that Usagi does. When I wrote that, I wasn't thinking of accusing Usagi of self-aggrandizement, more as being unoriginal to just use her own name, but I realize that my statement could come across that way, too.
Yeah... So, any suggestions for alternate names?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. Not a clue to be honest.
Not much for japanese naming schemes.
Beyond the obvious of keeping the elemental themes behind each of their names, I got nothing.
...Any news on if Crystal is still a thing. Kinda curious about the Dream Arc.
One Strip! One Strip!I like sailor moon, but I feel like the series would have benefited with more hand to hand combat sequences as opposed to magic spamming.
Its why I like precure so much. They have similar themes to Sailor moon as far as Magical Girls go, but they have much more elaborate and Dragonball esque hand to hand combat sequences with generally Toei's best animators doing them.
I honestly think Sailor Moon Crystal could have added more CQC to help it stand out more from the original and give it a nice update for modern audiences.

Watch SymphogearMe as well.
Though I also think they should not have followed the original manga so closely (having the outers easily defeated by the sisters and making them rather useless among other things).
One Strip! One Strip!Hell, even in the manga, the only characters that engage in Hand to hand are Sailor Venus (Thanks to her sword) Sailor Jupiter (due to her Sukeban nature) and Sailor Uranus and Neptune from the Outer senshi. And it was still a rarity to see it happen.

Watch SymphogearCQC isn't needed if the Senshi could do anything but fire useless attacks, fire OHKOs, and (fail to) dodge. It's pretty consistent in Sailor Moon that you're either the MVP or useless in any given fight. And Moon is MVP 90% of the time, so...
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.OK, show of hands: Who wants a reboot of Sailor Moon that emphasizes the "Warrior" part of Magical Girl Warrior in a way similar to the Precure franchise?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I wouldn't mind it. I was hoping we'd get a little of that with Crystal, but outside of the thing with the Shitennou, it's followed the manga very closely, arguably to it's detriment.
They definitely could have spiced things up a bit.
One Strip! One Strip! You know, since we are talking about this, how about we compile a list of things that we can agree upon as shortcomings of faithfully following the source material 100%, and which we hope could be rectified in a "Sailor Moon 2.0" reboot?
What I can name off the top of my head:
- Fights should be more action-y and with a greater variety of both "basic" attacks and "super" attacks (see Pretty Cure and Lyrical Nanoha for modern examples), rather than being limited to ranged duels where each combatant throws the same one or two attacks over and over. Use of actual tactics would also be appreciated, especially if it's not limited to the heroes.
- The Inner and Outer Sailor Soldiers shouldn't worf so much.
On a different note, what would you suggest as a name for the result of a Fusion Dance between the Solar System Sailor Soldiers (with Sailor Moon as the core entity)? Let's assume that this does not result in Sailor Cosmos or even a true "Sailor Galaxia" (under the assumption that the canonical villain of that name had assumed it out of hubris rather than having any rightful claim).

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Ooh, did everyone fill out the official movie re-release survey already?
Has there been any news on whether they're continuing Crystal, or did they finally just give up on it?
One Strip! One Strip! It's only been a few months since season 3 ended, wait at least until February.
"No will to break."Hasn't it been a year?
One Strip! One Strip!
Bump. Why do some fans say that Minako is "Usagi/Serena 2.0"?
Flora is the most beautiful member of the Winx Club. :)
