I think we had an image picking for this thread sometime last year. I don't remember what the outcome of it was, but I think the current pic stayed.
I did a search and couldn't find any other threads

This was a LONG time ago.
Well then that had to have been before the new guidelines of making tropes more accessible to general audiences
While it doesn't show every nuance of the trope, I think it gets as darn close as anything to giving readers a quick visual clue.
I don't find it ambiguous or misleading (beyond the potential for a casual reader to mistake it for a character page, though the "The" in the title helps.)
Get a slant at this glossary of Pulp Detective terms. It rates. Pipe that?I dunno how we'd go about doing this one...there's something about the current pic that I like enough to say "keep pending something better"...maybe it's that ridiculously gaudy uniform.
Bump...any other thoughts? I'm still leaning toward keeping the current pic.
Let's clock this, and if we don't get more suggestions, leave it.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Tick tock...
I'm in favor of keeping it. The crowner is over too.
Although, question. What's the caption mean? Should it be removed?
The caption is, I'm assuming, what he's yelling at Bluto in that scene. I'll put it in quotation marks so it's clear that it's dialogue.
The clock's up, so this is locking down for lack of action. No further action is to be taken based on this thread.
First of all, the current pic looks too similar to Drill Sergeant Nasty (CO angrily yelling at subordinate). Second, the defining aspect of The Neidermeyer is that his troops hate him. We should find another image that shows that somehow.
