Too Much Publicity, Covers Favorite Character, Ratings Bolster, Fan Bait
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackHow about Mascot Abuse?
Publicity Hijacking Character, More Prominent On The Posters, Overhyped Secondary Character...
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And even if it is broke, just ignore it and maybe it'll be sort of OK — like the environment."Man, how is Fan Bait not already a trope on this site?
Anyways, liking a couple of these.

Get a slant at this glossary of Pulp Detective terms. It rates. Pipe that?By the way, does anyone else see the irony that Wolverine Publicity is most likely a healthy trope due to Wolverine Publicity?
Do we need to vote on the redirects, or can we just hash out which ones work the best and add them as we see fit?
Get a slant at this glossary of Pulp Detective terms. It rates. Pipe that? There is a certain value in not, shall we say, Redirect Spamming....
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Right. What I was asking was do we have enough decent redirects to vote, and do we need a crowner at all.

Get a slant at this glossary of Pulp Detective terms. It rates. Pipe that?We don't need to vote on redirects. We just need to put up a couple with common search terms.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWell, then I think Fan Bait is pretty spot on.
Get a slant at this glossary of Pulp Detective terms. It rates. Pipe that?I have a problem with Fan Bait, namely Just Here for Godzilla is going to get confused with it.
Fight smart, not fair. That's not the only trope I can think might fit that name either - Fan Bait is much too general.
Um, the comic book folder says that wolverine publicity is an example of that....
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. That is pretty much exactly what it is, putting an already popular character into as many works as possible.

I really like the Money, Dear Boy side of this trope. I think Fan Bait works on that premise. If people think it's too general, then how about Fan Bait And Switch? I also think Cash Cow Publicity covers this trope as well.

Get a slant at this glossary of Pulp Detective terms. It rates. Pipe that?Appealing To Popularity sounds too much like Appeal to Popularity.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And even if it is broke, just ignore it and maybe it'll be sort of OK — like the environment."Cash Cow Publicity sounds good to me, as does Fan Bait(And Switch).
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Well, we don't need a crowner for redirects, but since this is an opaque name and not a pre-existing term, I'd say e should consider a rename crowner.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
Crown Description:
Wolverine Publicity needs searchable redirects badly. Got any ideas? Note that we're not renaming, so the options are not mutually exclusive.
At just over 300 in-wiki links and 6,000 inbounds, those aren't bad numbers, but this doesn't appear to be a pre-existing term (3,000 Google hits, even without excluding "tropes" from the search) and the name by itself doesn't entirely convey what the trope is about.
Redirects, anyone?
