[up][up]The North Sea is a lot less stable, with all sorts of interesting fault lines all over it. <_< Not to mention heavy population bases abutting the proposed fracking sites. -_-

"Minor" earthquakes could be rather... less of nothing in the wrong places. Not least, should ground movement take out underground infrastructure. Pipes and cables really don't like being asked to move.

[up][up]Sinkholes form predominantly in limestone, not in shale. Most of the Midwest has rock types that allow for karstic processes, but these are not the rock fracking targets(shale).

Did I say sinkholes were the only form of ground movement? I don't think I did...

I specifically mentioned "fault lines", yes?

Solar Freakin' Roadways were mention before, but I feel like this video should be posted regardless.

Here's an interesting site: the Climate CoLab. It seeks to solve climate change the way Fold It helps model enzymes; by recruiting the help of thousands of people all over the world.

Personally, I think it's awesome~[awesome] Collective intelligence seems like a very powerful thing, and if this works, we might just be able to extract ourselves from this climate change mess.

Likely busy writing something.

Another argument why we should be positive about climate change work

1) India and China are going to get absolutely hosed, and they have 2/7ths of the world's population.

2) The technology is dropping like a brick in terms of price.

3) Republicans can't keep squirreling away on the issue when Miami and the like starts drowning.

TL;DR: There are laws in some states that mandate that utilities generate a certain portion of their power from "clean" sources. Ohio Governor John Kasich (R) has signed a new law to freeze that previous law that was in place in Ohio.

FYI, Kasich is standing for re-election in november.

That makes so much sense: use the shade of the solar panels to reduce loss by evaporation... Gain electricity as a wonderful perk.

That is sort of well-known actually. Biogenic methane is produced by microbes.

Yes, but the point of the article is that it varies based on species of livestock.

Scientists use Thoreau's journal notes to track climate change "Researchers use Walden author's tables of flowering dates in 1840s Massachusetts to show temperature has risen 2.4C"
