Motion to pull.
And I like your suggestion.
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.Support on both counts.
Fight smart, not fair.Support the pull; not convinced on the suggestion, only because I dunno if that panel would resize well enough for us to use.
Hm, perhaps a slash crop instead of vertical one?
Fight smart, not fair. This should've been pulled a while back. Link to old IP thread
Un-pulling. At least 15 people thought it was good enough in the last crowner; makes no sense for 3 votes to overturn that.
The Jar-Jar image isn't a JAFAAC; it's obviously punishing the character, which is a pretty big part of the trope. If you know who Jar-Jar is, that's great; if you don't, you still get to see the main idea, and it's not a big leap to infer that he's The Scrappy. This image is better than imageless.
Rhymes with "Protracted."The punishment is not in the show, which is not this trope at all. So it's not an example.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I kinda liked one of the image choices that was also a part of the original image pick discussion....Of Scooby punching The Scrappy (the actual one)
As the person who originally suggested the image, I think it's still the best of the suggestions from the old thread. The Scooby punching Scrappy image is very unclear in comparison, especially since it comes from the live action Scooby Doo (Yeah, remember that movie? Neither do I?).
The comic strip certainly shows the trope in action, although the character being killed isn't actually a Scrappy like Scrappy Doo or Jar Jar; he's a guy who the characters in-universe hate. I prefer the Jar Jar image, but that's just because I was the one who suggested it in the first place.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.My big problem is that it's just a bad thing happening to a character. If you don't know that Jar-Jar is a scrappy, then it's meaningless. Even if you do, then it still doesn't indicate that someone did this because Jar-Jar is a scrappy.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Well it was already voted to be better than the other suggestions that are currently on ImageLinks.Take That Scrappy. And I think it's better than your new suggestion. So...yeah... *shrug*
Rhymes with "Protracted."Well I admit mine isn't that good, but the current pic objectively lacks context. This would actually require some kind of dialog of someone noting a character is a Scrappy, and thus the character is getting hurt to please the fans' hate.
Anything else would just look like a bad thing happening to a character that happens to be a Scrappy, which is not a trope.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I can't believe that picture actually won a crowner. There is absolutely no context. At all.
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.Keep Until Better Image Suggested. It's the clearest we're gonna get. Besides, I personally think it's one of the funniest pictures on the whole site. Jar Jar is also an obvious Scrappy anyway.
Catch me where? See my profile!I'd like to at least pair it with a shot from the movie of him being annoying. That way, we would have a frame for Canon, and a frame showing what the fans want to do to him.
Then again, I say that would also be a good picture for The Scrappy, but that picture is apparently staying, so I'll leave that here.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Clock is set.
How is Jar Jar an obvious Scrappy? I know Star Wars so I know, but I seriously doubt your average person is going to know that. The suggestion is better to me.
Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No further action is to be taken based on this thread.
Now I know Jar-Jar is pretty infamous, but the caption does most of the work telling us that he's the scrappy and it's a take that. The picture alone doesn't give much context.
Now this strip, especially the lower right, directly states the killing an annoying character is a good thing, which also has the benefit of making the trope look more In-Universe instead of just being about audience reaction.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.
