Let's hear again the best theme to have ever themed:
I hope Djawadi's going to top that eventually.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Oh, could it be that Crimson Typhoon is a reference to Gurren Lagann, which means "Crimson Spiral"?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Might well be. But I wouldn't say for sure. They're homaging a ton of things.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I liked that cross over. Hell it makes as much sense as the rest of the land of Fiction. from me.
I bought the toys of Coyote Tango and Cherno Alpha today. Cherno Alpha was in the movie so briefly before being destroyed that I didn't notice until now that the cockpit is in the center torso, not that big cooling tower. I was thinking about my Gigan action figure, and compared the cockpit area to Gigan's buzzsaw and realized, in the Godzilla universe, against Gigan at least, Cherno Alpha would have gone down even faster. Good thing the aliens didn't give their monsters much power beyond "Big smashy" for most of the invasion, huh?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThe cooling tower is designed to be a head decoy. However, it seems that Leatherback knew this, as after leaping onto Cherno it went for its chest where the cockpit is.
Yeah, but that wouldn't do them much good against Gigan. His blades would probably be able to cut through the arms at their vulnerable point (i.e. the telescoping section), and his belly saw is at the right place to penetrate the cockpit.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWhen did they release a Cherno Alpha toy?
Some time last year, I imagine, when all the other toys came out.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI just got this and watched it last night. I was only interested for G La DOS. But I liked it!
Now I wanna see a movie where someone in a non-flying suit of Powered Armor does a Colossus Climb against giant monsters, or even cuts them apart from the inside. That would be friggin' sweet!
PS. I thought Gurren Lagann meant Crimson Face, not Crimson Spiral.
Shadows of the Colossus 2099 or something?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo it turns out Nostalgia Chick was not taken in by the hype train on Pacific Rim. Oh, don't get me wrong, Lindsay still enjoyed it, but don't expect a Nostalgia Chick video abouthow seemingly progressive the movie was.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great It needs to be cathartic, not sorry.
Eh.

Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.It was not a world-changer, but it was hardly mindless. Stupid, at paints, yes, but it was a feast for the eyes and the ears and the heart.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.It was one of her honorable mentions on her best movies of the year, though. But I don't care either way. When it comes down to it she's just another person with another opinion, just like everyone else.
You mean having a show on the internet doesn't make her opinion more important than everyone else's?
I didn't write any of that.It makes it more viewed, and that's the only reason it might be more important. It means any people without opinions of their own who see her show might be swayed by her.
Nope. She and the Nostalgia Critic have been pretty emphatic with the point that everyone has their own opinion and sometimes we need to tolerate each other's preferences. That doesn't mean that everyone's opinion is right, but it can mean that they see a different aspect of the film than others.
That's how the Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes works, because each critic sees a different aspect. If everyone had the same opinion about every movie ever, then the meter would only read 100% or 0% and thus wouldn't be very accurate about the film's quality. Some movies are more good or more bad than others.

@The Handle: It's pretty mindless. It doesn't do anything new with the genre, doesn't take any big risks, mostly plays things safe.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI would say the way they developed the characters and their place outside of the robot vs. monster fights makes it a step above similar genre pieces. There are no meaningless characters with no place in the plot other than to eat up the running time. We don't get Developing Doomed Characters, anyone whose reason to be in the movie is unknown until the last 10 minutes.
That's not to say it is revolutionary, but I would say "Highly Competent" is still a glowing bit of praise you can give to any movie, where the average is usually around "Barely Competent." But I don't know, calling this movie "mindless" doesn't feel right when I have seen mindless and those movies I just don't care to talk about.
That's not what mindless means.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Yes, that pretty much is what it means.
The only thing it does new is using full CGI for monster fights at all times instead of a select few times like with the Millenium Godzilla movies or the Heisei Gamera trilogy.
Watch SymphogearYeah that describes Pacific Rim pretty well.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great
Here's a nice Pacific Rim/Frozen crossover for you guys. Very canon-compliant.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!
