Oh, and I forgot Svartsot. I once heard their album Ravnenes Saga. It's not Ensiferum- or Finntroll-level EPIC, but it's pretty decent stuff. And then there's Forefather, who play "Anglo-Saxon metal" (which, looking at the history of the Germanic peoples, shouldn't be too different).
posting in a banned troper thread
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat! Is there any Viking metal that doesn't have black metal screams/growls in it?
I see Bathory doesn't I'll check them out. They're highly rated on RYM too.

If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul./me forgot Annabeeche had been banned
I see Bathory doesn't
Quothorn wrote the book on harsh vocals. Try Kiuas or Turisas instead (technically they're pagan metal, not viking metal, but whatevs).
There are snakes in the grass, so we'd better go hunting!Oh someone posted If you're only down with clean singing go for Hammerheart, Twilight of the Gods, Blood on Ice, and Nordland that. That's what agve me the impression.
If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul.Assuming pagan metal is still supposed to be some kind of folk metal, I wouldn't describe Kiuas as such. Turisas, yes, but they still use harsh vocals, just not exclusively.
I guess it is.Manilla Road - Voyager is about vikings and has clean vocals.
That counts, right?

last.fmWait, when was Anne Beeche banned exactly? Shame she was, by the way... classy girl
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...She has her own forum based entirely around complaining about this forum; you could ask her there. I'd link, but I'd probably get banned for it.
I guess it is.Frankly I largely agree with her assessment of TV Tropes, but I'm far less butthurt about it than she is (and certainly not to the extent of making a goddamn forum about it)

The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.I just had a look at some of that forum's threads, and I take that back.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...Oh come on, it doesn't look that bad.
And we were doing so well with not bringing the rest of the forum into Media until now...

There are snakes in the grass, so we'd better go hunting!Does "immigrant song" count as Viking Metal?

No.
The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.I'd recommend Enslaved, Windir and Einherjer (and, of course, the late, great Bathory. OF COURSE), but ya said no harsh vocals... :P
If at first ya don't succeed, try a bit more, then give up or cheat... ;) -Myself Nothing can stop me now! -Piggy by Nine Inch NailsThe user who started the thread is banned now.
Can this just be Viking Metal general?
If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul.I love Bathory. Are there any other viking/black metal projects that sing in English?

Well, breaking news, guys. I found out that "Vulgaris Magistralis" isn't originally by Heidevolk. It's a Cover Version of a song by the Dutch rock band Normaal. I actually like the original a lot better - it has a lot more energy.
xD That song is hilarious!!! Too bad it's been subtitled by someone who apparently doesn't know Dutch.
Anyway, I'd recommend Ensiferum, specifically the albums Ensiferum and Victory Songs. Finntroll is another excellent band in this genre - you should check out their album Jaktens Tid. Although they may be a bit too harsh (and hyperactive) for you.
