Well, the super Mirror 64 is unlocked initially in Bayo 1, I think.

I didn't think that you mentioned the whole Super Mirror 64 thing when I edited that post, but your subsequent edit made my edit redundant.

I just finished the first Bayonetta and I must say, fanservice usually bothers me, but this game is so over-the-top that I can't help but love how they play it for pretty much for laughs. The gameplay was fun, the story was cool and the characters were all cool too. I did dislike the instant death QT Es though, those are always cheap.

By the way was I the only one who thought you had to make Jubileus crash into the planets for, I dunno, extra damage or points or whatever during the climax scene? I felt kinda dumb when that turned out to be a gameover.

And is it bad that the only weapons I found in the game were the sword and the claws? I spent most of the game using only the sword tongue

I also heard there's a Bonus Boss, but I'm not sure where it shows up.

All in all, Bayonetta is being a lot of fun, I'm going to try to get some of the stuff I missed in the first game before moving on to the second, as well as trying to beat it on hard. It's probably going to take a while but goddamn this game is fun.

I just said the same thing, Full Moon. I thought the point was to smack her into the planets and was rather annoyed that they gave me another skull for that...

That fight was hard for all the wrong reasons: combat wasn't too hard to figure out, but there was a lot of automatic this and QTE that that kept screwing with me. However, it follows the fights against Balder and Jeanne, which were superb in almost every respect.

Personally, while I liked that they tried to make the fight with Jubileus as grand as they could, I just went through it treating it as if it were a final stage rather than a final battle, since that's what it felt like to me. Even the fights with the Auditio felt more like boss fights than the battle with Jubileus. It was still awesome though.

I'll say that I didn't try to crash her into planets when it came to that part of the battle. Considering it's the exact same minigame from Balder's fight with different aesthetics, I just thought that avoiding them was the natural response.

I found the fight with Balder to be pretty boring really, considering that most of the time he just kept slashing at me over and over again with occasional Kill Sat and fireball. Jeanne is the best though.

And I just figured slamming Jubileus into planets would be an exaggerated and awesome thing you could do like most of the stuff in the game

Nah I understand. I would have probably thought that too had it not shown up in the previous boss fight. Good luck on the harder modes by the way.

I also heard there's a Bonus Boss, but I'm not sure where it shows up.
IIRC, the Bonus Boss is bought from a ticket that appears in The Gates of Hell after collecting ten million halos in one save file (meaning it's a cumulative amount; the game will count every halo you earn, including the ones you spend, towards the requirement). The ticket itself costs about as much.

I don't think the save file has to be of a particular difficulty in order to earn the ticket, but I haven't bothered to get it myself, so I can't say. You could probably just replay chapters until it unlocks if the difficulty mode doesn't matter.

Of course, I believe the Bonus Boss will be unaffected by the difficulty setting anyway, as it was purposely designed to be the hardest fight in the game bar none.

[up]Yep. When you fight the Optional Boss he forces the difficulty onto Infinite Climax so that you can't use Witch Time.

I decided to just go ahead and start the second game and come back to the first later. I just completed chapter 1 and I'm already liking it more than the first, which is saying something.

Though I always get a bit annoyed when I somehow miss a verse.

Backtracking will find you hidden verses a lot.

And yeah, I much prefer Bayo 2, for a number of reasons. And I really like Tag Climax.

I don't think I've gotten to the part where Tag Climaxes happen so.

I kinda wonder how the co-op mode works, I haven't tested it yet.

I've done the opposite of Full Moon and will be tooling around B1 this week. It seems like most of the hidden verses are Alfheims, of which i only found one in my entire first run, so i don't know if i want to go through the hassle. Looking online after i got terribly frustrated with chapter VI's Alfheim, they seem to be best-cured with purchase of certain accessories (in the case of chapter VI Alfheim, one which forces the enemies into rage, making them tougher but also racking up combos and magic meter quicker, to ease the availability of Torture Attacks)

I have heard that B2 is the better game from those who have compared them, which is good to know.

wii-U exclusivity has killed any hype for me playing Bayo 2.

It looked fun but not enough to where I want to buy a wii-U for. I'm not a big co-op guy either so tag climax doesn't grab me much. I DO want to play with that Sunday's Best outfit though :]

I only found one Alfheim in the first game too. I found plenty of them on the first chapter of B2 so I'm guessing they're a lot easier to find in the second game, though I think I still missed one.

I honestly wasn't interested at all in Bayonetta until the announcement that Bayonetta 2 also came with the first game, I heard a lot of good things about it so I decided to get it because hey, two games in one. I'm so glad I did it because I think this may be my favorite hack-and-slash game.

Wii U will drop price eventually, we think. Nintendo spent this holiday focusing on profitability, which is why they didn't price cut, but sometime next year, perhaps (though they may have to bite the bullet and drop the gamepad, depending on how stubborn they are)

Why in the world would Nintendo drop the GamePad? That would be the single most idiotic thing they could do.

Too late to just drop the game pad.

Though I have a feeling the next nintendo console won't have one.

Dropping the gamepad is the quickest thing they can do to cut costs for the console, which means dropping price. The gamepad is expensive, and folks really don't seem to care about it (or the console would be selling more).

Dyed-in-the-wool Nintendo fan that i am, i know an anchor when i see one.

That aside, it seems chapter VI alfheim has defeated me. I got the Gaze of Despair, tried it, still kept getting killed. Got madder than i've gotten at a game in a long time, decided it wasn't worth it, went along and then got punked by angel Bayonetta, got more pissed off and rage quit.

I've got to take some time to regroup here...

Finally got my hands on the first game. I should be getting the second one next month. I've only played the prologue so far due to a headache but it's quite fun. That was one hell of an opening cutscene. It reminded me of the cutscene leading into the first mission of Devil May Cry 3. I also got Pure Platinum on the second verse and a Platinum rank overall but I doubt that record will hold.

Even from just having played the Prologue/first Chapter of the two games, I can already tell that Bayo 2 is far more exhilarating. The combos in the first game for the basic weapons feel a bit slow due to how many of them have pauses that throw off my groove a bit. I'll get used to it soon enough, though. Although I can have Bayonetta straddle an angle and then smack them silly or grab them by their head and toss them about in the first game but I don't think I can in the second so that makes it better.

And watching Bayonetta kick ass (and kicking ass as Bayonetta) while "Fly Me to the Moon [∞ Climax Mix]" plays is just as awesome as I imagined it.

I'm also infinitely glad for the Wii U's GamePad and Off TV play. I wouldn't be able to play the nearly as much if that wasn't an option.

So, Bayonetta is a lot harder than I expected. I'm really sick of seeing that game over screen.

Seriously, based on the Prologue, I thought "Oh, this isn't going to be so bad. It'll be a bit of a challenge but I'm experienced in this genre so I should be fine."

I do believe I'm on Chapter 7 and, Prologue aside, I've gotten Stone on every chapter but one. It's really quite painful to my pride and the all of those instant death QTEs that give me half a second to react really are bullshit.

So now for a question: Aside from changing your combos and how you move when locked on, are the other weapons any different? Like, are they any more powerful than the starting weapons or can I just use whatever I like?

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!
