Not a trope: British Accents

Just having British Accents alone isn't a trope. While it's understandable to be used in some works, for a British work, made in Britain and using British people, having a British accent is not that much of a trope.

Now, we might have some tropes about British accents being used to indicate politeness, poshness, evilness, and whatnot (which would be tropes), so this might work as an index. Or maybe as an useful note about the different dialects of Britain (as the page currently seems to be).

Move it to Useful Notes. That's what it is.

British Accents found in: 396 articles, excluding discussions.

This title has brought 1,833 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.

Sheesh! I agree that it's not a trope, so this is a problem. But there do seem to be some tropes in there, such as the thing about giving British accents to specific non-british groups ("Movie Romans in general tend to have British Accents").

Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.

One more vote for Useful Notes, and split off anything that's tropable. I think we already have The Queen's Latin for when Romans speak British English.

[up][up]If we don't we should.

I agree this is Useful Notes instead of a trope, so this and similar pages like American Accents, should be moved.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

Just want to make sure, all Useful Notes go in the UsefulNotes/ namespace now, right?

They're supposed to. Lots of them haven't been moved there.

Also voting for a move to Useful Notes. We have tropes like The Queen's Latin to cover the implications of the accents.

Bump. Do we need a crowner or can we just move it to Useful Notes?

I count 10 for and 0 against, with no arguments suggesting alternate courses of action. From what I read of the rules, that's a pretty clear-cut case of "don't need a crowner". I'd say go for it.

Browsing Accent Tropes shows we do indeed have several useful actual tropes about British accents, so I heartily endorse the move (in case it wasn't already obvious from my earlier post).

I moved it to Useful Notes. We should probably clean up the wicks now.

Should we remove any of the indexes?
