I know Shout Factory has started to release subbed Sentai on DVD in the west recently, though only the shows that have aired from Zyuranger onwards.
Well... that's something at least.
Also!
The mini sub crisis is over, Over-Time subs released Build's first episode too! It wasn't up on my usual place, but hey, you can just get it straight from their site today.
mario is red, i am green, i try my best, but everyone's meanWow. There is no way this can take place in the same universe as Ex-Aid. Something like that what happened in this series is way too big.
Then again, the same could be said for the Global Freeze, and the latter part of Gaim, so I suppose it doesn't really matter.
One Strip! One Strip!....I was under the impression that the "shared universe" stuff ended with Wizard.
It could just be a parallel world, Decade style.
I would love to see Decade again.
No, it ended way before that. Even attempt to collect Double, OOO and Fourze with the movies was very weak and had zero influence on the serial shows anyway. All the movies crossovers are running on pure asspull handwavium.
10 to 1 odds on Asshole Beard Scientist being Niterouge and Glasses toadie being Bloodstark.
If they're not I'll be shocked.
Just watched the first episode of Build and I am really amused by the fact that Build's bike is also his phone.
"Death's vastness holds no peace. I come at the end of the long road—neither human, nor devil... All bends to my will." -Demifiend.Well, it kinda did (there's no way Gaim took place in the same world as Wizard, and it's clearly separate from Drive, despite the movies saying otherwise) but it seemed like they were back on that with Ghost and Ex-Aid.
I suppose we should just deal with it and accept that the series crossover when they say they do and don't affect each other beyond that.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, loads of series couldn't possibly exist in the same universe without everyone being illiterate amnesiacs but provide no explanation for crossovers.
Cho Super Hero Taisen is amusing for this. The video game plot gives an excuse for why a lot of characters show up (and, for once, kind of excuses the empty suit phenomenon), yet still randomly smushses together Zyuohger ( humans and Zyumans live together very visibly at the end of the series), Kyuranger (Geth-occupied Earth) and Ex-Aid (clearly neither of those).
Wizard/Gaim and Ninninger/Driver do go for an alternate universe thing but I can't think of any others that do.

"Yay"! Finally watched Build's first episode. It was pretty memetastic, I'd say.
The premise is quite interesting (gee, I wonder if the "divided nation and foreigners interested in taking advantage of it" has something to do with current political events), the designs are cool, the old Ishinomori plot is there, the humor was ok... It's got potential. Let's see what it has in store for us.
... And that's called jazz!Wizard was the last time a shared universe made sense but that hasn't stopped them from trying to force one. I usually just ignore the idea outside of the standard crossover movies.
So I just became aware of This poll about great Anime heroes of the Showa and Heisei era.
Our boy Ex Aid, who's series ended a mere two weeks ago, is number 8 for strongest heroes of the Heisei era.
Not bad Emu. Not bad bad. I mean, he beat out dudes like Kuuga, and even Gaim, who's flat out a god.
One Strip! One Strip! In a poll.
I still think it's pretty good. Emu is really recent as a character, so the fact he beat out a lot of older Heisei riders in the people's minds is really something to me.
One Strip! One Strip!I think being the most recent one is what got it, actually.
He's also not that strong really.
Sure, he's not weak, but we've got Blade, Kuuga, Agito, Gaim, and Wizard, all of whom reached incredible implied levels of power, or actually demonstrated just how strong they'd become.
And those are just some of the dudes I could think of too. For all the shit he pulled, I don't recall Emu every pulling stunts on the same level as that bunch.
One Strip! One Strip!Add Kabuto to the bunch. He has experience with time-stopping villains
... And that's called jazz!Don't forget Decade, who has the power of having all the powers.
Yeah. Those two would be up there as well.
Hell, Emu placed higher than Den-O, who's better at fucking with time than Kabuto is (and can even be 4 guys at once under the right circumstances).
One Strip! One Strip!<looks at the poll>
.......blergh.
Build ep. 2 is out, folks. Pretty nice opening, by the way.
It's mostly about Banjou's past, his dying-turned-monster gf and how he got arrested. And Gorillamond. And how the Nascita's owner is apparently ditzy but can turn a tablet into a backscratcher with his own bare hands, hinting that the Isurugis may share a similar kind of transformation power or something.
... And that's called jazz!It looks like only subjects who are in good physical condition can survive the Smash process if Kasumi is anything to go on. It's pretty clear both heroes went through the same thing, but now all that's left is to figure out why Ryuuga remembers his past and Sento doesn't. It may have something to do with the Isurugis, but it's also likely that Sento was just farther along in the process when he escaped (if he escaped). Not enough to transform, but enough to lose his sense of self.
One Strip! One Strip!Given that Ryuuga's girlfriend also still had her memories after becoming a SMASH, I'd say that our resident Kamen Rider is an anomaly.

Presumably. Toei doesn't seem to pay any attention to the existence of a western fanbase.
