What If...Harry Potter had an American cast

Now I'm not saying this would have been a good idea. In fact, in reality it would have been a pretty darn horrible idea. But...

If the Harry Potter movies had a cast full of Americans and Canadians instead of Brits and Irish, who would make the most apt cast? Maybe take it as a given that the kids would still be unknown.

Back when Steven Spielberg was going to direct, he had Haley Joel Osment in mind as Harry. Honestly, this would have been a bad choice seeing that Osment was already a few years older than Harry in the first book.

Okay um Hank Azaria as Arthur Weasley? Katie Holmes as Tonks? If this was under WA w/ voice this would be so much easier

Kathy Bates would make a great Umbridge I reckon. Brad Pitt has the looks and the comedic chops to be a good Lockhart.

[up]

Kathy Bates WOULD be a great Umbridge.

[up][up]And Hank Azaria would be AWESOME in Harry Potter... but Arthur? I think he'd look weird as a redhead. But maybe Fudge...

Hey... what about Mel Brooks as Dumbledore...? And Elijah Wood as someone? Probably Sirius Black since he's good at internal angst.

John Goodman would be the ideal Hagrid.

It would suck, that's what if. I really can't imagine anyone else in the roles than who we got, besides. Only I do wish Dumbledore would've been cast better. I think both Dumbledores weren't quite right for the role. Although I admit I'm not sure who would be.

Okay definitely Samuel L. Jackson as Kingsley Shacklbolt

Then maybe Jack Nicholson as Moody

Michael Keaton as Barty Couch Jr,

Robert Wuhl as Lockhart (Just look at Alexander Knox)

Adam West as Slughorn

Gene Wilder as Dumbledore

Johnny Depp as Stan Shunpike (Kevin Michael Richardson could voice the Shrunken Heads)

Bonnie Hunt as Lily Potter

Tom Hanks as Snape (I don't know why, maybe its becuase of Toy Story but something tells me he'd do well)

Catherine o'Hara (The mother in Home Alone) as Mrs. Weasley

Whoever played that fat one eyed guy in Oh Brother Where Art Thou as Uncle Vernon

Jim Carrey as Professor Quirrel

Wow this gets easier and easier

Nah,Keaton is either too serious and deep or Ax-Crazy for Lockhart, maybe Lupin (Based off of Toy Story 3 and Batman) or Bart Crouch Jr though (Based off of Beetlejuice)

And Tony Cox as Flitwick (Since Billy Barty is dead and all)

Actually, Gene Wilder as Dumbledore sounds downright inspired.

Viggo Mortensen as Sirius Black could work. I know he's in his 50s now but Gary Oldman is no spring chicken either. Cast Mickey Rourke as Mad-Eye Moody and save money on make-up.

I thought Viggo was um Danish,I thought this was about good American picks, not good Everyone-But-Britain picks otherwise I'd put in Hugh Jackman who would be a fantastic Sirius.
