@Whale: 2-4-4.

If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul.

[up]It's tried and true. What do you suggest? 1-5-4?

Wait, I'm going foward first.

Risk management.

It's not about what you get out of your friends, it's what you might one day pay for not having any.

[up][up] Sorry, I've misread it as having 2 defenders and not 2 forwards tongue

Rugby or Rugby union? But shit, I've derailed a thread by staying on topic I think.

Seriously, does anyone here think friends are a bad thing for people to have?
No. Though I find the prospect of having friends personally unappealing, I don't find it ideologically offensive or foolhardy for other people to have friends.

First, we should separate "people" in two blocs. Some are social, others not

One theory is that both sides have mutual evolutionary advantages. The lone wolf is far removed from the human network, so he's less likely to share in an epidemic, while the BMOC is going to be Patient Zero.

..I forget the advantages of being social, because I was only paying attention to the stuff that pertains to me. tongue

For others, lack of social contact is simply not conducive to having a long life. Studies say it's as unhealthy as smoking.

Not two blocks. Two ends of a spectrum.

@ Johnny Fog: WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA, WAIT JUST A COTTON-PICKING MINUTE.

You mean to tell me that studies have shown that me being friendless (which I am, physically—not quite internetically, though) is literally almost as bad for my health as my mom smoking a pack every other day is for both hers and mine?

Then I should just effing start smoking, then! X(

[up] Depends on how badly you really want friends. If you do not crave any social interaction than being friendless should be healthy enough. If however you really want social contact and find yourself unable to make friends then the effect that has on the mind could be quite damaging I should think.

As johnny said it really depends where you fit in. People are different and have different needs.

Huh, that's weird. I thought this was TV Tropes but this thread tells me that I clearly stumbled onto a thread populated by badly-programmed robots.

[up] Well, we are human beings — It seems a bit much to expect us to act like anything other than badly-programmed machines, no? ;)

Without friends, you would get really bored.

Especially if you live alone.

God isn't enough either way, since he doesn't speak to you anyways.

P Lus, it allows for goofy antics, as long as you don't hurt others, emotionally or physically.
