The current name is opaque, and there is a pre-existing term for this trope already (Long Take).

On the other hand, I don't expect to see much in the way of active misuse here.

The pre-existing term is Oner. A long take is just long.

I have no idea why we're not using the existing term, especially since it's very clear (arguably clearer than the name we're currently using).

Yeah, sorry, @Stratadrake a long take is long. The Oner is the industry term for a single extended shot with no cuts.

And switching to Long Take opens up the possibility of confusion with the other takes, like Spit Take, Double Take, Wild Take...

One Long Shot might be a decent redirect, though.

... Okay. But does not "single extended shot with no cuts" by definition mean "long take"?
