I think that's an excellent idea, considering this goes back to stage magicians of the late 1800's.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I recommend you re-YKTTW under the new name so they'll know where it is and they can help you gather examples.
Fight smart, not fair.Where does that leave the existing trope though? All the current examples are still valid.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.Right, you lump them in on the YKTTW.
Fight smart, not fair.Right, explain in the proposal post in YKTTW that it's an expansion of The Vanna, because The Lovely Assistant isn't limited to modern game shows, but because there's not really any difference in the way they're treated or handled, it's not a supertrope/subtrope thing. It's all one trope.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Bump. Anything ever come of this one?
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffIt appears to have been expanded a bit, but it does still need a rename as suggested above.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! Not a straight rename, I believe the plan was to make a YKTTW under The Lovely Assistant and replace The Vanna with the new article.
Well Stovepipe did get the YKTTW up and it's got 29 replies.
Then Stovepipe managed to get himself suspended.

Bump the second. Are we gonna do anything or not?
At the very least, I don't see anything wrong with the trope name as is — it's not like there are any other Vannas out there. Would it make sense to make Lovely Assistant a supertrope covering general examples of eye-candy assistants, with The Vanna as a game show-specific subtrope?
I'm more concerned with people not knowing who Vanna is supposed to be.
Fight smart, not fair.Gave the ykttw a bump. I'd want The Vanna to remain as a redirect, but it should be transplanted by Lovely Assistant.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I'd agree that The Vanna can be replaced with this. I can't think of any distinguishing characteristics unique to the game show version.
Bump. Anything happening here?
Waiting for someone to launch lovely assistant.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I'd be happy to hit the launch button, but I don't think that's allowed without hats? But I can't put a hat on the ykttw either. Weird.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! You have to be on the main YKTTW page, not the specific one.
Fight smart, not fair.I still think that, if Lovely Assistant is launched, there should be a subtrope for the game show specific examples since there are so many. The Vanna can be kept as the name for the game show specific variant. Anyone okay with it being launched that way?

There are about as many game shows with a Lovely Assistant as there are stage magician acts. Do we split that as well? If we split off both the game show and stage magic acts, what do we have left?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. No, because I still have no idea who or what "vanna" is. I'm going to guess she's an assistent from a show that was cancelled over twenty years ago. That's not a good name. Incidentally, there's also a writer and a band named Vanna, and people may think the trope is about those.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Wow, you don't know who Vanna White is? She's done a show where you spin a Wheel and can win a fortune, and she's been on the damn show for 30 years. I know people who don't even own televisions but know who Vanna is.
If there is indeed something else named Vanna, then I see no reason not to rename The Vanna to something more generic like Lovely Game Show Assistant, to suggest that it's a subtrope of the Lovely Assistant.
Nope. I guess I'm from a different country, region, demographic, and/or age category than you are.
According to That Other Wiki, she retired from being a show assistant twenty years ago, and has since gone into singing. So it's both true that (1) the Vanna we're talking about is known for more than just this trope, and (2) there are other famous people named Vanna, such as Monna Vanna, Vanna Bonta, a band named Vanna, and a character from Dante.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! What page are you reading? Vanna is still on the show in 2011 and doesn't look like she's headed for retirement anytime soon.
ETA: I guess the page on Wikipedia was a tad confusing. I've edited it to make it clearer that Vanna is still on the show.
But if there are indeed other things named Vanna, then I won't object to the trope being renamed.

I was thinking that this trope could have a wider scope. Not just game shows but general show business. I was also thinking that it could be renamed something like Lovely Assistant.
What do you guys think?
