Removing Gushing from the Wiki

So. Personal opinions on the main wiki aren't allowed, be they gushing or bashing. Now, bashing gets tolerated even less than gushing, and that makes sense; it leads to more flamewars.

But that doesn't mean we have to live with all the gushing either. This thread can serve as a center for keeping it in check. One function might be to alert people to pages that are really heavy in gushing, to the point that it's not just a quick fix and will need some assistance.

Mea culpa. I must have mixed up the tabs I had open. [lol]

I'll copy-paste the post in the Chairs thread.

This was in Cool Old Lady

  • Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only Judith Sheindlin, aka. Judge Judy. A familial and criminal court judge with a sharp wit and a sharper tongue who has been evaluating and mediating disputes between some of the worst human garbage you'll ever see on a screen since 1996 — and she was in her fifties back then. She was once named one of the toughest women on TV, and she's certainly still in the top 10 all these years later.

Is this too gushy or nah?

EDIT: typo.

Yeah, that seems a little gushy. And needlessly bashy of the clients, who as I recall were usually dumb and petty rather than trashy and horrible.

The big problem is that the show had real people and cases, so it's troping reality. I would rewrite it to focus on how the show frames her.

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.

For what it's worth, Cool Old Lady isn't even a trope anymore.

On Lady Ballers i found this note:

Critical Dissonance: Critics have slammed and dismissed the film for being a cliché and generic sports comedy on top of accusing it of being extremely preachy. Audiences meanwhile, usually ones who agree with the film's conservative message or simply apolitical and centrist viewers, have generally given the film positive ratings and consider it an entertaining enough comedy flick.

I haven't saw anyone apolitical or centrist liking the movie, all positive raiting that i saw were from people, who loved "trans women aren't women" message and that's it, i can hardly call these reviews apolitical.

[up]Yeah, I haven't sought out reviews, but from what I hear, even if you disregard its message, it's a pretty mediocre sports comedy with low production values, and which even contains some fairly basic mistakes regarding the sport it's supposed to be about.

Maybe my sources are biased, but I don't see a lot of people who enjoyed the movie for non-political reasons.
