Big Boss nodded at Havoc. Denying the enemy power would be a good start. "Set the charges with timers. Give us ten minutes. Plenty of time to sweep for sentries or other secondary objectives." He didn't tell the commando to watch his back. That was a given.

He looked over at the quiet lancer and the samurai. He spoke quietly, but with conviction. "You two, watch his back. There's bound to be someone still here." The old mercenary then turned to the remainder of their force. "Gi-Soo, Rikki, you're with me. We've got some asset denial of our own to do." His smile brought to mind a snake that's cornered it's prey. "Unless I'm mistaken, tanks run on fuel. Fuel explodes, especially when helped along by C6 plastic explosives."

It was time to see exactly how this Tiberium reacted to high explosives. Big Boss was betting on not well.

Nephenee nodded at the one eyed man, accepting his orders, before turning to Havoc. The spear wielder's shield and spear were strapped to her back, the commando armor reducing their weight exponentially in her arms. She also possessed the railgun given to her, although she was not quite sure how to work it. Finally, she'd taken it upon herself to carry as many salves, or medkits as the quartermaster in this place had called them, as the armor would allow. She was no healer, but no one would die while she could help out.

"Ah'm with you, sir." she said to the grizzled Commando, preparing to follow him to the generators. There was a determination in her voice, a need to prove that one often heard from soldiers in unfamiliar circumstances.

Havoc grinned.

"Looks like we can get started".

There were a dozen generators arranged in rows of 3; four rows of snail shell buildings giving power to the entire base, without these the Nod base was blind.

Stupidly there were drums of tiberium fuel lying around, scattered across the plain that had housed the Nod stealth; it was almost too good to be true for the commandos, no guards to be seen, no patrol, and all the fuel you need to do serious damage.

But then Nod had not anticipated a stealth attack...or was it that being swelled with confidence they had not even played with the idea that GDI could sabotage such a master plan; whatever Nod had in mind it seemed that the commandos were safe for now.

"One drum one building, set the charges and watch the fireworks, but after this it'll get slightly messier".

Havoc took a few steps and lifted up a barrel, on its side was painted the Tiberium hazard sign; a smile came to the commando.

"Remember to stand well away from these suckers when they blow, they're pretty but only when you aren't infront of them".

Turning the nephenee the aged commando said:

"Keep an eye on the horizon over there"

Havoc pointed in a vague gesture to the clift end of the nod base.

For big boss the base would seem deserted, an uneasiness lingered in the air, something warning him that their time was fast running out with every second; though nothing happened, experience tought him to double his guard.

Seeing nothing didn't mean there was infact nothing, though the Commandos were now under the stealth layer certain nod vehicles contain personal steath shields; unknown to the commandos one was doing sentinel duty not too far away.

To say that the GDI guard at the MCV were being decimated would be an understatement.

Hastings' army had not traveled more than 1 kilometer when the ground around them erupted with enemy fire and misslies, before the tanks could return the favor they exploded one after the other as stealthed vertigos revealed themselves one after the other and delivered their payloads.

Meanwhile stealth tanks had managed to flank the bloodhound side guard, materiallising in a deadly volley of tiberium missiles. The infantry weren't doing any better as they suddenly found their chests full of holes thanks to the silent pistols of the Nod Shadows; these nod stealth Ninjas had shadowed the GDI armament for some time already and now played their part.

The worst thing was that the regement hadn't even arrived at the besieged MCV.

Now the battle turned into a desparate fight for GDI as Hastings' army fought with all they had left, namely a couple of predetors and a few lucky Mammoth tanks.

Meanwhile the MCV guard would see a vast blackness in the distance, the blackness of more than a million Nod militants; those that looked back would see fire, flame and smoke; and hope died in the MCV guards even as they stood firmly behind a wall of Sonic Emitters.

Kane smiled as he watched his pieces in play; Who could stop him? nothing was out of calculation.

The Tacitus would finally be his to command once more.

"Come on kid."

Gi-Soo told Riki, the latter nodding after they ran up to meet up with Big Boss.

Mitsurugi nodded and stayed on guard, surveying from all sides to ensure Havoc could safely complete his task.

Meanwhile, in Star City...

Green Arrow suddenly realized there could be more to Tatsu's hara-kiri. He knew of many a villain who slaughtered their minions when heroes thwarted their schemes. Perhaps Tatsu thought it was Better to Die than Be Killed.

"All right, Ollie," said Black Canary, walking over. "We've done our job." Green Arrow turned to her and smiled.

"Oh man," he said, "I don't even want to think about how much of the budget I'm going to have to devote to fixing up this place." He took her in his arms, and they kissed, glad that they were finally able to fight alongside each other once again.

Even as GDI braced itself the first wave of gunfire smote itself onto the barricades around the MCV; shrapel, dirt and ceramic flew like rain in a gale.

But then GDI was GDI, after decades of being pounded by the fury of Nod they had refined Defense to a D and now Nod was about to get a dose of their medicine delivered in GDI style.

Huge turret like cannons 5 metres high swiveled around to meet the enemy, the barrel glowed and pulsed with lines of discharging electricity, a low humm began to fill the air and the cannons on the turrets began to shimmer.

Colonel Gatz, the man charged with the rear defense of the Tacitus smiled as he saw the machinery humm to a start.

"Nod bastards, I'll see you dead or I'll die and see you in hell".

Turning round he barked an order into a radio transmitter that operated by infrared.

"All personel are to stay away from Sonic zone B5, Theres gonna be some music soon".

And with that said Gatz secured some ear muffes over his head and waited.

He did not have to wait long, the Sonic Emiiters began to shimmer as sound began to distort around its barrel; electricity pulsed, the turrets swivled into place and unleashed hell onto the oncoming militants. There was an earsplitting screech as the sonic emmitters fired.
