That's the standard reaction, yep.

Which is why I'm kind of disappointed that the sequel fixed a few things. Now it's no longer legendarily horrible, it's just sub-par.

By the way, 4chan preserved a thread involving that game.

First person who makes QWOP and Boat-O-Cross crossover fanfiction earns my respect.

I tried the first one. Got through the first level okay on my first try. Lost both lives on the second. Cannot even get up the hill in the first level now.

And people in the comments are loving it for some reason.

What, is that some "mission complete" message? Someone on a different board mentioned that appearing someway, but I couldn't figure what they were talking about. I can't play the game to check it myself right now, it's not working.

Hell, as the 4chan thread pointed out, whoever made the first one was probably at least fairly meme-aware. The description was "Spongebob's on a boat".

I remember this game. I think I got up to the second level but could never go past that.

Heck, when I fired this up, I thought it was a fan-made thing, because it seemed too self-aware about how difficult is is to balance in these game. Not to mention the amount of destruction in the backgrounds.

As for "escort mission", if it is there in the game, then it's definitely proof that they read the original thread.

Let's look at the checklist:

-Aimed at young children: Check.

-Cartoon connected to a large, long-running children's product/series: Check.

-Imageboard frequenters claiming "THEY MADE IT FOR US TOO": Check.

-Expanding internet audience who are outside of the primary demographic: Check.

-Subtle connection to internet memes: Check.

This has the potential to be the next MLP. Prepare your anuses for the incoming wave of hipsters and bandwagon-jumpers.
