[up]"where corporations decide what to make." really? i think the more accurate statement would be the white house.

Personally, I think China did this, because that's an equally tenuous connection to this then "the White House".

Corporations smell what sells. A movie about the death of "America's greatest enemy"? You could sell that.

[up][up]

personally , I think thats the most ridiculously deluded and paranoid thing I've heard in a while, but whatever.

Hint: releasing it during election time is what we call, a good time to make money because politically active people will care. claiming its somehow obama influencing the media to paint him as a hero makes about as much sense as the idiotic claims thatthe debt ceiling needed to be solved by the 2nd because of ramadan. IE, paranoid fear from morons who think the Democrats are secretly the illuminati. But like I said, believe whatever you want. You're one of 3 or so people on the board I've long since been convinced wont believe anything unless it paints liberals are evil scum who are out to murder your rights.

[up]

This. Its easy as fuck to make a logical leap from "people liked osama dying" to "making an america: fuck yeah movie will sell millions to idiots who love misplaced nationalistic pride"

[up]obama doesn't need to give marching orders to hollywood. Even if he has no involvement whatsoever they are still very blatantly trying to influence the election in one of the most shameful attempts I have ever seen.

They are not trying to influence the election. I can't imagine that they'd care.

They're trying to make money. This is what corporations do.

[up]actually now that you mention it:http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0811/61025.html

someone is trying to do just that

What if someone were to have made a heroic film about Bush after 9/11 and right before his reelection?

Then conspiracy theorists would think it was some sort of propaganda ploy and the rest of us would go "Oh. Holllywood cash in timed correctly". especiall since, who else would feasibly help them get factually correct information on the events around it? I'm sure you'd either have to go to the white house, or Seal Team 6. and Seal Team 6's identies are CLASSIFIED

Besides, your analogy doesnt work because hollywood isnt secretly part of the republican agenda, right?

Well, corporations keep backing Congress members into certain decisions, so it's not too far off to say that they have a hand in big decision making.

This, however, is not one of those instances.

The White House could give a flying fig about what Hollywood does. Hell, Hollywood made Bush, a movie that tried to explain our previous President's actions, which only made him look worse. Since it was fairly recently and the man’s still in office, I doubt they'll be making a movie about Obama becoming President. But after he's been finished with his term for a few years? You bet your ass they'll make a film about it, primarily because the general American populous is fairly stupid and forgetful about something that historically monumental.

The story of Osama sells. Newscasters everywhere were crying against it, since being overly happy about it all made Americans look like bloodthirsty douche bags. Whatever your stance on it, Hollywood can easily spin it into either a tragedy, calling their audience out on their heinous outlook about his death, or make it look like the fall of Hitler, a man (remind you, a man) that most modern day Americans declare either a monster or people who strongly disagree with their own opinions.

...since being overly happy about it all made Americans look like bloodthirsty douche bags.

That makes us bloodthirsty douche bags?

...

Still glad we had that party... wink

I kind of hope this movie is good... I just might see it. I really don't have that much faith in Hollywood, though.

Ah well. If it's not, I'll watch Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan back to back. That's a sufficient substitute. [lol]

Don't get me wrong, the general American public all took in a big sigh of relief when they found out the man was dead, because while the threat of terrorism is still out there, at least we don't have to worry about one of the most influential figureheads of terrorist organizations anymore. This, for a good number of people, escalated from a sigh of relief to running around with the American flag attached to your shirt like a Superman cap, running around streets and college campuses giving high-fives to everyone because "we finally won". Good for us?

Meanwhile, newscasters, apparently being the best people on the planet, decried anyone that did this for being a bit too over-enthusiastic. Sure they make a valid point, but I'll take their news and opinions with a grain of salt TYVM.

And of course that's a good reason to throw a partysmile. Hell, the other week I stubbed my toe, so my roommates and I invited a bunch of people over to take shots with us.

Shiiit, I had actually gone to bed, and at like 11 at night my friend texted me and was all, OSAMA IS DEAD?!

I walked into my parents' room and was all, TURN ON THE TV!!!!

...some stupid reality TV was on, I thought he was pranking me. I was going to go ballistic, and then the news cut in and was all "the President will now address the nation with some secret news" or whatever, and then I was like, NO FUCKING WAY!

We didn't go to bed until like 3 in the morning, it was awesome. [lol]

Really, if they can do it, I'd see it. Done well, it sounds like it would be a badass movie. I want to see all the planning and whatnot, too...

I bet it'll suck, though, just because the good parts are all top-secret, and the raid is too short to make a good feature-film out of it...

But wait! Here comes the soldiers that are allegorical for America's hopes and dreams, and steadfast determination in the founding father's virtuous dreams of the future! And they're killing Osama, a man regarded by nearly everyone in America to be the face of terrorism?

The raid would be the climax, to be sure. The rest would be a fictional account of your standard American soldier that is, in contrast to recent films concerning the military and armed forces of America, actually a pretty decent guy. Oh, and he's got a hot wife and two kids (boy and girl, natch) back home.

I smell sales on the horizon...

Face Palm.

Goddammit, I want to see the planning! I want to see the look on their Obama-stand-in when they give the whole "Geronimo is down" or whatever thing (I love that picture).

By the way, whoever plays Obama is going to be absolutely terrible. He has a very distinctive look. You can't copycat him, like you could Bush. A shame, too...

You could convince Obama to play himself, hell, he's not doing anything right now anyways with the Tea Party stonewalling the House.

Please don't tell me you didn't see this coming? Given even an extremely minimal budget this movie will make tons of cash, and that's pretty much the standard for what events in real life are adapted to film in Hollywood.

100 bucks says it won't make the release date.

Second, since The Hurt Locker (not to mention a half dozen others) I think we've proven that people aren't interested in any movies based on the War on Teror. Unless Michael Bay is directing? waii
