Venezuela extends territorial claims in the Atlantic of territory including possible oil deposits recently found by Mobil-Exxon in Guyana-claimed waters.

Maduro: "Hey, that whole thing in the South China Sea sounds like a good thing, let's copy it." Ignoring that Venezuela is only powerful compared to Guyana, and has a much bigger country a lot closer to it than does the PRC.

(Is Tom Kratman's Countdown: M-Day, which had a still-alive Chavez [written prior to his death] pull an Argentina/Falklands on Guyana, next around the corner? IRL Venezuela already claims a huge chunk of the place.)

Once we get out of this damn regime, while we won't have to pay a lot of illegal debts, we will probably have to give away a good chunk of Guayana and the Amazonas for some time.

By the way, I found this video of Chavez being an idiot after Obama expropriated General Motors.

I'm getting worried about Daniel and Leopoldo's health, but at least Maduro is showing some weakness.

Admittely, despite being a South American neighbour to Venezuelanote , I don't really know much about them other than the fact that they apparently have a regime of some kind. Fun Fact

As for hating my own people... yeah. I hate 'em. But not as much as the government - sure, it's nowhere as bad as Venezuela's, but you know, corruption. Another thing to note is that, contrasting with OP, I'm personally a commie, but not the type that supports the USSR or Venezuela's regime(That's not communism damnit, that's totalitarianism).

And the inflation... jeez. I thought mine was bad enough.note

I became disgusted with communism at first, mostly because I've lived my whole life through this regime, but I've learned ideology is mostly irrelevant at the end of the day, politicians don't see things the way normal people do. People's lives, property, dreams are nothing but numbers and meaningless data. Which is why I think a Republic is the most ideal system, I don't think such a thing has ever existed in Venezuela.

I feel Venezuelan's fatal flaw has always been we've never grown out of the mentality of yearning for the next necessary gendarm rather than us being socialist or whatever, and I've grown to hate them for it.

Still, I can't stand most left-wing politicians...

Once upon a time I told myself not to hate over socialism/communism over our government. That was until I learned more about socialist states, especially that they tend to fail the same ways ours eventually did. Learning a bit about economics also contributed.

I don't hate less extreme forms of leftiness, tho.

Bullying Guyana? Seriously?

Well, considering Guyana doesn't really have a military worth mentioning and has a rather minimal impact on world politics, it makes marginally more sense (from Venezuela's viewpoint) than Argentina attacking the Falklands and expecting a world power that happens to own that patch of dirt to not intervene. tongue

In the case of a full conflict, I doubt it would matter that much. It's like saying the spaniards would help us because we were once part of them.

I think Maduro is just barking to throw a smokescreen— surely even he knows actively acting against a neighbor country would finally bring actual effective international retaliation upon him. Although Guyana also seem to be acting like dicks about it.

Of course, they are cleaning up the FMI reserves, so for all we know they might be staging a stunt where they force the situation to throw themselves off power, they flee to some 'friend' country with full pockets leaving the whole mess of the country to someone else, and they bid their time for an eventual comeback after the mess proves too much for whoever comes next.

the issue about the falklands is that thacher pretty much thorw herself out in order to stay in power, cold war politics after all.

But the issue with Guyana can see as a problem since for a time they where using our territories, the fact that Maduro wait so much if prove of how much of a idiot he is.

Also, about socialist, I dont disagree so much, after all my issue is the sectarism this fuck have bring to us, but everyone living in Maracaibo can tell you how much the so call oposition have bring to us: nothing and more fucking nothing.

[up] Honestly, if the opposition was decent enough Chavez would have died long ago as nothing more than a shadow and Venezuela would be a first world country but well...

I was thinking they might be setting up something like a "Dakazo" It's not like they need to, since I'm sure the opposition CAN'T win under these conditions and there's no way they could gain a large enough popularity rise. But you know to give a justification on why they won.

The problem is that as long as the MUD doesn't claim straightforward, clean and direct conditions for the elections their efforts are nothing but shuck and jive. Tibisay will always beat us even with a single vote. cool

But with or without clean elections the water will look for another way out...

Yups, 591 per dollar, a near hundred bolivar increase in less than a week, I believe.

Don't worry guys, though, at this rate in two months we'll reach 1000 and then we can just slash 3 more zeros of our currency, making the Bolivar Fortisimo v2.0 and we'll be 1 for 1 with those damn imperialist yankees :D
