It looks like it's supposed to represent the horror that was Hawkman's continuity at the time(my guess is that each face is supposed to represent a different incarnation, but I don't know enough to confirm that). The caption could possibly better emphasize the metaphor, though.
I remember the IP thread for this. Good times. Good times.
I checked the source. There wasn't an indication that it was chosen by IP.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyYes, and I can't find the old thread either. I remember this thread though.
Mostly cause I hated the fact that the picture to win was that.
Please.Seriously? It legitimately won? It doesn't visibly have anything to do with the trope.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyIt does. I think it won for being a visual pun on the concept. It was explained that Hawkman has had so much different continuity that the cover was to an issue where it was made into a plot point.
Please.I'm sure that if everyone on earth were familiar with Hawkman, that would make perfect sense on sight.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyI said I hated it. Don't try to eat my head.
I think it was a laxer time in IP. Besides it happens sometimes. We are not Infallible.
Please.Er, yeah, sorry if it seemed like my snark was targeted at you.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyHas Wonderella done a strip spoofing this?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Dunno...I know Order Of The Stick did (as part of its background mythology, no less), but I don't think anything on it was concise enough to work as a page pic.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyI don't remember a thread on it.
Fight smart, not fair.Looks more like Body Horror than anything.
I TELL YOU HWAT!I 'get' the current pic, but I'd be open for new suggestions.
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
That's...what? I have no idea what this is. Am I missing something?
