I wonder if Nintendo will ever release a required patch that improves the AI on 200cc, because right now it seems that the dose of karma they're receiving for having been cheating bastards for years is too satisfying to handle.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.
Fuck that.
So I tried out the new course on 50, and 100. I haven't done 150cc yet. Just wanted to see what they were like.
Once I do that, I start doing 200cc in earnest. They seem like pretty cool places I'll tell you what. I like them.
One Strip! One Strip! Is it me, or do Spiny Shells seem sparse on 200cc Grand Prix? The first time I've encountered one was in Toad's Turnpike...after I finished the race.
I don't mean to brag, but I'm pretty good at maintaining my lead position, too.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.Nah, item RNG seems the same for me.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Man, I get total shit items on 150cc, so I'm betting the random number god will hang me out to dry until I'm a dried out husk when I start playing 200cc in earnest.
Of course, what really gets me is lightning bolts at the absolute worst time (like when I might actually get a good item, or when I'm just about to use it), or the AI's uncannily good aim with the Green Shells.

One Strip! One Strip!Huh.
I was expecting superfast Excitebike to be insane, but then it turned out it was one of the easiest tracks to do on 200cc.
Superfast Dragon Driftway, on the other hand, is super nuts when you're not frontrunning because the tiniest collision at that speed can send you rocketing in the wrong direction and the stage is so narrow. It's easier when you're in front, when you can slow down or stop to adjust your turns without worrying about having to avoid every other driver.
I'm expecting Mute City to be nuts.
Okay, yeah. That was fun. There aren't a lot of stages in this game that really feel like they were designed to be done while going fast, which is why I've been coming to see 200cc as more of a novelty, but on stages like that I'd almost say it's essential.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Okay so, my favorite things about this DLC pack are Dry Bowser, the Bone Rattler, and Big Blue.
Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser CharizardNow we need 200cc MIRROR! BWUAHAHAHA!!!
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Mirror isn't hard. It's just muscle memory.
My Twitch.Like Mario Kart 8 as it is? Well how about Mario Kart 8 on your SNES?
Some of the sprites could use a bit of work
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. So I finally managed to beat the crossing cup..... on 150cc.
I said I'd get gold on everything else (though likely not triple stars) before I seriously sunk into 200cc.
Considering how long it took me, not only do I know considering myself the most incompetent fucking shit of a racer who ever lived, I truly expect to get destroyed so badly in 200cc that I will literally die due to my own poor racing. As in I will actually find a way to crash while sitting in the comfort of my own home.
So yeah, not much confidence in my skills.
One Strip! One Strip!Jeez, I'd hate to see how you feel about your Smash Bros. skills.
My Twitch.Well, that's different. I've only played it a bit during a game club that was taking place this past semester. I'm not a dedicated Smasher, so I don't expect to do well.
This however, is something I've been playing for a bit (not as long as some of you, but still). After doing the same tracks over and over, I'd expect to have some skill at it. The fact of the matter is, I continually botch turns when I should know the timing, which feels like a metaphor for how I always fuck up when it really matter, when I can't afford to, and when I downright shouldn't be able to.
So, Smash means nothing really.
Anyway, I'll do the next one tomorrow. I'll eventually do it, but there will be more pathetic racing along the way.
One Strip! One Strip!Out of curiosity, how long have you been playing Mario Kart games in general and which game did you start at?
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I have a new main, Girl Villager with Blue Falcon. Controls great. Will switch between her and Rosalina from now on.
Truthfully, I started with the super nintendo version, did Super Mario Kart, missed out on Double Dash, Mario Kart 7 for Wii, and the DS version, and have only just come back now.
I guess I'm being a little hard on myself. I've been out of the game for a while now. Plus I stopped playing for a while to focus on Hyrule Warriors and other things.
One Strip! One Strip!@3057: I see what you mean. When I first saw 200cc, I thought it looked like something straight out of a mod—while it was certainly very fun to watch all the racers travel at a very high speed, it didn't feel as if the tracks were large enough to accommodate that speed. Now that I've had a chance to try it out, it's very hard to go back to slower speeds, especially online, where the speeds randomly alternate. Ironically enough, now I have some trouble not holding the brake button.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.
Maybe you just learn differently. I been Mario Karting since the SNES and played EVERY SINGLE GAME (arcade not withstanding) so I built up my experiences over the years.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I still haven't played 200cc yet. I really want to but I don't have room on my Wii U between Bayonetta and The Wind Waker HD.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I've been playing since SNES too, and I'd argue that it almost doesn't matter how many of the past games you've played. It helps a little to be familiar with the basic gameplay formula, but the technology and game mechanics behind them all can be so different, especially with those earlier games.
That said, as frustrating as it can get on the harder difficulties, Mario Kart in general is meant to be an accessible, lighthearted racing game. Unless you're seriously training to enter some kind of professional tournament, it shouldn't be that stressful of a game.
And also honestly, between the way items are distributed and how the computer always seems to catch up no matter how far behind it gets, I've always been of the belief that skill can only take you so far in Mario Kart. This has been toned back significantly from when it was at its worst in MK Wii, but it's still there to an extent.

Alright. Finally got gold in all 150cc cups.
Now it's finally time to do 200cc properly.
Here we go.
One Strip! One Strip!3-starred all the Mirror Cups. Not too bad honestly as long as there are no last minute Blue Shells. Screw Cheese Land though. I always mess up there.
Play 8's Rainbow Road on 200cc. The AI falls off so damn much that it's sad.
