In 1326, Aradia de Toscano went into witchcraft, and started the Stregheria tradition, which would be later known as the Malandati tradition. At least, that's how the legend goes...

A.D. 1327:

• King Edward II of England is imprisoned and murdered on the orders of his wife and her lover, who assume co-regency over the 14-year-old Edward III.
• On Good Friday, the Tuscan poet Petrarch meets a woman named Laura, for love of whom he begins writing a cycle of sonnets.
• The fictional events of The Name of the Rose take place.

1328 AD:

• The Treaty of Edinburgh-Northampton has England recognize the Kingdom of Scotland's independence.
• Uzbeg-Khan, longest-reigning khan of the Golden Horde, divides the Grand Principality of Vladimir between Muscovite prince Ivan I and Suzdalite prince Alexander Vasilyevich. They get Vladimir, the lands of Nizhegorod and the rest of the lands respectively.

1329 AD

• King John of Bohemia captures Medvėgalis, an important fortress of the pagan Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and baptizes 6,000 of its defenders.
• Antipope Nicholas V is excommunicated by Pope John XXII.
• David II becomes King of Scotland
• Ottoman Turks defeat Byzantine Empire in the Battle of Maltepe.

1330 A.D.

• The Bulgarians lose the Battle of Velbazhd against the Serbs, killing the Bulgarian Tsar and allowing the Serbs to invade Macedonia.

• An outnumbered Wallachian force defeats the Hungarians at the Battle of Posada.

• The seven year old City of Vilnius recieves its coat-of-arms.

• King Edward III of England arrests and executes his regent, Roger Mortimer. He will rule England himself from now on.

A.D. 1331:

• Stefan Dušan is crowned king of Serbia.
• In Japan, the figurehead Go-Daigo's plot to overthrow the Hōjō shogun is uncovered, forcing the emperor to flee for his life and launching the Genkō War.
• The prince, historian, and geographer Abulfeda (Abū l-Fidā`) dies in Damascus.
• The traveller/scholar Ibn Battuta visits Kilwa, off the coast of present-day Tanzania.

1332 AD:

• Amda Seyon I, Emperor of Ethiopia, begins his campaigns in the southern Muslim provinces.
• Lucerne joins the Swiss Confederacy with Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden (who previously joined at 1291).
• Ibn Khaldun, Arab historian, is born at May 27.

1333 AD

• King Edward III of England seizes the Isle of Man from Scottish control.
• The river Arno floods, causing massive damage in Florence, as recorded by Giovanni Villani.
• Edward III of England decisively defeats Sir Archibald Douglas at Halidon Hill, returning Berwick-upon-Tweed back to English hands.
• A famine begins in china that last till 1337.

In 1334 AD, the bishop of Florence blesses the first foundational stone laid for the new bell tower, designed by Giotto di Bondone, of the Florence Cathedral.

1335 AD:

• Slavery is abolished in Sweden.
• Abu Said, ninth ruler of the Ilkhanate, dies and the Ilkhanate disintegrates.
• Georgians under George V successfully defeat the Mongols and George V reclaims the Grave of Christ from Muslims.

1336 AD

• 4,000 defenders of Pilėnai commit a mass suicide rather than be taken captive by the Teutonic Knights.
• The Kemmu restoration ends and the Muromachi period begins in Japan.
• Vijayanagara is founded on the southern part of the Deccan plateau in India, by the brothers Harihara and Bukka Raya.
• Aberdeen is burned by the English.

1337 AD

• March 17th: Edward, the Black Prince is made Duke of Cornwall, the first Duchy made in England.

As you can see, this was a boring year. But incidentally, it's where I'm at in my Civ 4 game...

1338 AD

• The Ashikaga Shogunate begins with the granting of the title of Shogun to Ashikaga Takauji by the Emperor of Japan.
• Nicomedia is captured by the Ottoman Empire.

1339 AD

• Emperor Go-Murakami accedes to the throne of Japan.
• Simone Boccanegra is elected as the first Doge of Genoa.
• Shams-ud-Din Shah Mir, having defeated Kota Rani, Hindu queen regnant of Kashmir, in battle at Jayapur (modern Sumbal), asks her to marry him, but she commits suicide rather than do so; thus he takes over sole rule of Kashmir, beginning the Muslim Sayyid Dynasty.
• The Moscow Kremlin is first referred to as a Kremlin.

1340 AD

• King Edward III, England's monarch, is also declared King of France.
• The French and English naval fleets confront each other at the Battle of Sluys, under the command of Admiral Hugues Quiéret and King Edward III, respectively.
• Valdemar IV is elected as King of Denmark.
• The Truce of Espléchin causes a temporary ceasefire in the Hundred-Year War.

A.D. 1341:

• In Rome, Petrarch is crowned the first poet laureate since antiquity.
• A 6.0 earthquake causes widespread destruction in the Crimea.
• The poet Chang Hsian writes an influential treatise on the uses of gunpowder and cannons.

1342 AD

• Pope Clement VI succeeds Pope Benedict XII as the 198th pope.
• Louis I becomes king of Hungary
• Mu'izz al-Din Husayn defeats the Sarbadars in the Battle of Zava.
• The Patriarch of Antioch is transferred to Damascus under Ignatius II.
• The Zealots seize power in Thessalonica, expelling its aristocrats and declaring themselves in favour of the regency in the ongoing Byzantine civil war.

1343 AD:

• The St. George's Night Uprising of Estonian people against their German and Danish masters. It fails, the "four Estonian kings" are murdered at the castle of Paide, and the Duchy of Estonia is sold to Livonia.
• The Maritime Republic of Amalfi is devastated by a tsunami.
• The Smyrniote crusades are prepared by the Knights Hospitalier, the Pope, the Republic of Venice and the Kingdom of Cyprus.
• Magnus V of Sweden abdicates from the throne of Norway in favor of his son, Haakon VI. However, he remains a de facto ruler.
• Geoffrey Chaucer, father of English literature, is born.

A.D. 1344:

• Besieging Castilian forces capture Algeciras from the Moors.
• A Christian fleet captures and secures the port of Smyrna.
• The philosopher and polymath Gersonides (Levi ben Gerson) dies in Provence.

1345 AD

• Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is completed.
• In the Frisian-Hollandic War, the Battle of Warns takes place where William IV of Holland was killed.
• Andrew, Duke of Calabria, was assassinated.
• Zhu Yuanzhang, who would become the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty, left the Buddhist monastery he had been living in for the past year and joined a rebel group opposed to the incumbent Yuan Dynasty.

A.D. 1346:

• Led by Edward the Black Prince, the English army invades France. With the aid of longbowmen, Edward wins the important Battle of Crécy and besieges Poitiers.
• Ibn Battuta visits the Yuan court at Peking (Mongolian Khanbaliq).
• The Serbian Empire is founded in Skopje.
• The Black Plague kills innumerable Crimean locals, but also strikes the invading Golden Horde and forces their retreat.

A.D. 1347

• John VI Kantakouzenos wins the Byzantine civil war against the regents of John V Palaiologos when he takes Constantinople.
• The Black Death reaches Italy and France.
• The rebel leaderCola di Rienzo takes power in Rome, declaring himself Tribune of Rome, planing to unite Italy and restore the Roman Empire. He sends letters to all Italian cities, asking them to recognize his authority. A bunch of representatives returned, and a reunion party was had, but in practice only Naples really recognized their new sovereign. In the end the Pope declares him a criminal and pagan, and he has to abdicate and flee to Naples before the year is over.
• The Bahmani Sultanate breaks away from the Delhi Sultanate, becoming the first independent Muslim kingdom in South India. It will later become a major power on the subcontinent.

1348 AD

• Charles University is founded in Prague
• Two ships enter the Bristol Channel bringing the bubonic plague to England.
• A Papal bull is issued by Pope Clement VI, protecting Jews against popular aggression during the Black Death epidemic.
• The anti-royalist Union of Valencia attacks the Jews of Murviedro because they are serfs of the King of Valencia and thus "royalists".
• Emperor Sukō succeeds Emperor Komyo of Japan, making them the third and second of the Northern Ashikaga Pretenders, respectively.
• Hangzhou in Mongolian China becomes the largest city of the world, taking the lead from Cairo, capital of Mamluk Egypt.
• The Black Death breaks out in Cairo.

A.D. 1349:

• An outbreak of popular rumor blames Jews for the Black Death, and leads to murderous pogroms in Basel, Strassburg, and Erfurt.
• The Black Death spreads to Norway, northern Poland, and Mecca, but subsides in Ireland.
• Ibn Battuta visits the Moroccan city of Fez.
• Several coincidental, unrelated earthquakes cause major damage in central Italy (including the Roman Colosseum) and northern England.
• The English philosopher/razor enthusiast William of Ockham dies in Munich.
