Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Hah, old pym you are kind of a dick
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe use of macro-photography has paid off. The water looks tremendous at this angle.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectAlready posted last page. Since it's so long time left we switched to talking LGBT characters in the MCU after Feige got askedabout it.
Which basically translate to "maybe at one point"...or "not anytime soon". I am ready to bet that Marvel, if they even go into the direction, will test the waters with the TV shows first.
They already did. They killed the character off before they could ever say "Oh btw I'm gay" because they thought there would be a huge backlash if they killed off the one LGBT character on the show so it was better to have none in their view.
Considering that the common audience has no idea that Victoria Hand is lesbian I don't count it. And considering that they wrote her so idiotic that none of the audience cared when she died, I think they made the right call.
WRT the Ant-Man spoilers Falcon shows up for a split second in one of the TV spots so I think it's legit.
Ant-Man cast and crew is currently answering questions on Tumblr right now.
This won't go well at all.
What I liked the most about the last TV trailer (even though I missed it totally upon first watch) is the use of "It's a small world". I wonder which Disney song they will match up with Dr. Strange, now. Grim Grinning Ghosts?
Stranger Like Me.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Tumblr eh? Hope they've prepared for all the Ineffectual Death Threats that will probably come their way.
Lol...I second that one! Even though Dr. Strange surely thinks of himself as unique.
Looking up music from around the 80's, I would love it if a Queen song played in Gotg2 if/when the Magus shows up.
Yeah, didn't people working on the movie also say Marvel just showed up one day, told them they were taking two actors and then went to the Gotg set and filmed the stinger before returning to Thor later all the while production was stopped since they kind of needed to have the actors working on the movie? Marvel really doesn't seem to believe in letting directors film movies how they want. Everything must be how 100% like the plan they've set up(aside from Spider-Man because that can make Marvel push movies back months).
Edit: Wait, didn't the IM 3 director have similar complaints or was that one of the other director's?

Well, thems the breaks of working on a cinematic universe.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo...he complains that Marvel allowed him to do what he wanted and then changed the final product...and if I remember correctly, one of the main changes was more Loki...considering that the Loki scenes were the only good thing about the awfulness of The Dark World, well played Marvel. I get the feeling that they do allow the directors breathing space, but when they don't deliver something awesome, they step in and salvage whatever possible.
I'm not surprised there are problems. Nobody has done what Marvel Studios is doing right now. The film industry hasn't got any existing infrastructure for working on a persistent, multi franchise shared universe; so Marvel has to learn it all from scratch.
Considering adding more Loki at the cost of everything else seems to be what made the Dark World awful in the first place, bad Marvel, BAD!
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!
Adding Loki at the cost of what? Thor's one of my favorite characters in Marvel, but the Dark World was awful. I don't think Loki was the cause of it.
You name it. Malekith had a lot of his character depth cut down to make room for Loki, world-building scenes, Odin had more scenes, and an entire character was removed from the film: Tyr, the god of justice, portrayed by Clive Russel (who plays Blackfish Tully in Game of Thrones) to make room for more Loki.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
I've heard the same. The film comes out today in Hong Kong so we'll know sooner or later.
