Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Based on what I can tell of interviews the writers seem to have the most influence on the film after the director and the producer. Even if the movie looks bad, it can still be memorable with a strong plot, characters, and quotes. Likewise no matter how nice the movie looks, sounds, and feels a weak script can send the whole thing down the drain.

Editors are the most important.
I admit it's a bit hypocritical since I've watched Arrow and enjoyed it, but I never cared for Daredevil - which might be folly, since I didn't like Green Arrow either - all that said, I have no interest in binge-watching it at the moment, and the only connection to the MCU I've skimmed are rumors surrounding Marvel contracts.
And that, I guess.
How so?

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!The entire reason Hell's Kitchen is an easily-exploited shambles is because the Chitauri wrecked it in The Avengers.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Though oddly enough, no one ever used the phrase "alien invasion".

Oh God! Natural light!A few folks I follow on Twitter who live in New York wondered why the Chitauri attack would have any bearing on Hell's Kitchen, since the attack was confined to Grand Central and HK is on the other side of Manhattan. They also joked they were glad that it must have destroyed the Javits Center.
Agents of SHIELD spinoff to star Lance and Mockingbird

...Uh, well that's certainly something.
Yes! No more Lance!
Shit! No more Bobbi!

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Hawkingbird fans are gonna be mad. Also what's so bad about Lance? He seems alright to me.
I doubt this spinoff has enough steam to do more than what Agent Carter did though. Also this isn't the same spinoff they were talking about that has John Ridley is it? I see no mention of his name anywhere.

Seems like there's a bit of a flap about them excluding Black Widow from the merchandise.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Huh. That's...cool, I guess. Maybe. Can't say I'm overly enthused.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself. Then they're really gonna hate Age of Ultron according to some rumors.
Feige talks a bit about the Inhumans:
According to said rumors the film is going to sink Clintasha so hard it'll sitting at the bottom of the Mariana trench, although since both sides lose to what's essentially a Crack Pairing at least they won't be at each other's throats anymore. Honestly as someone who doesn't really care about serious shipping let alone for these two I can empathize with their rage. Something about the way Brucetasha seems to be handled rubs me the wrong way, although Hawkeye/new lady actually seems kind of cute and can easily be justified as a case of going with the Ultimates version.
How? I thought they just released a figure of her recently, and she's probably getting more than at least Hawkeye.

That pairing was never really based in anything concrete, so.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI'd say the Ship Tease behind it was still palpable enough to warrant the fandom it did, although it annoys me when the fans treat it as undeniable canon. I thought they were a thing too first time I saw the original film, and so did a lot of professional critics (then again some reviewers thought Cap and Widow were definitely involved in TWS which is so wrong it's hilarious).

Wait, so if Whedon's stepping down from the Marvel movies now, does that mean we can finally get that sequel to Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog?
YES PLEASE

Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.I just find him intensely boring, really.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I would rather have a "The Bobbi Morse and Jessica Drew Show!"
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des Ursinsx2 Fair enough.
Holy shit.
Holy shit I want that. Why didn't they do that?
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Bland British guy can still die saving Jessica from Hydra. There is hope.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsPersonally I like lance, because I have a weakness for smarmy assholes, so I wouldn't want him to die, but I would totally take him being replaced.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Because now, we can get the Jessica Jones&Hellcat show, which ought to be awesome on its' own.

Well, for a perfect movie all elements have to come together. It's a group project after all, even if the director usually has the responsibility. But I think if a director works with a good script, it's pretty hard to totally ruin the movie. If the script is bad though, even the best director will struggle to salvage it. Naturally it's a symbiotic relationship, a director can always say that he doesn't like a scene and demand a rewrite.
