I was going to create the requested crowner, but in the process of doing so I stumbled upon the crowner that voted to make it a Useful Notes; the winning option stated it should also be a subtrope. Do we still want to go through with a new crowner in light of this?
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanIt seems very clear to me, reading the page, that this is a subtrope, not a useful note. It's a trope that's used in media.
Rhymes with "Protracted."I'll admit my bias for Japanese media, but despite that, I really do believe Manzai is more specific than Straight Man Wise Guy. For one, it isn't uncommon for the comedians in Straight Man Wise Guy to switch roles during the act. Lou and Bud even did it, but it's ill-fitting for the Manzai routine. The costume elements also call attention to their role in the routine, something that the supertrope never seems to invoke.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Yeah, this is a specific routine that's particular to Japanese Culture; it might be a subtrope of the regular type of routine, but I think it's distinct enough to have its own page.

No one is arguing that Boke and Tsukkomi Routine isn't a subtrope of Straight Man and Wise Guy. All Boke and Tsukkomi Routine examples are also a case of Straight Man and Wise Guy.
It is clear that there are specific attributes of the Boke and Tsukkomi that make it identifiable as a subtrope. In other words, you can look at a comedy routine and say: "Oh yeah, that's a Boke and Tsukkomi Routine." Or "No, that's not a Boke and Tsukkomi Routine".
That level of definition plus 3 examples is I believe the general standard for creating a subtrope.
Are you saying all subtropes should be made example free?
Gee whiz, I was for the Useful Notes page solution, but the paucity of the arguments against making it a subtrope is moving me to change my mind.
As for there already being acrowner- true, but that was well over a year ago and while I remember the decision was to make it a Useful Notes page I am not certain if cutting the examples was agreed on or not. (Useful Notes pages were not as standardized back then as they are now).
I think it's reasonable to ask for a crowner again after a year.
