I'm against splitting. Practically speaking, it will not result in clear examples, I think. I think editors will be confused what examples go where.

In that case, I suggest a rename to Friendly, Playful Dolphin. Perhaps custom-titled as "Friendly, Playful Dolphin" (assuming we still do custom titles) so as to better reflect having both traits.
They're not intrinsically linked; as I said before, one can have one trait and not the other; but they generally correspond, so we need a title reflecting that they are both present.

OK, I did the following:
1. Created Friendly, Playful Dolphin and gave it a page type and the text from Playful Dolphin.
2. Left notices on the thread and Renamed Tropes.
3. Moved the wicks, except for Beanie Babies because honestly I don't think that's a real example. I left it for others to judge.
4. Re-redirected Friendly Dolphin
5. Put the YKTTW link on the discussion page.
Aside from that one wick, I don't think there's anything else to do. There're no discussions or subpages that I can see. It just needs a confirmation that I did it right and then making the old page a redirect.

Hidden Face Matt, the two are NOT "two separate things" as they work out in the trope. They are intrinsically linked. Now, perhaps the name needs to be be changed to "Friendly Playful Dolphin" but what is needed is not yet another trope split which will result in two identical lists of examples.
Splitting this would be like splitting Cute Bruiser into a two tropes called Cute Character and Bruiser Character. Tropes are not always single point one dimensional things. Having multiple factors come together to create a three dimensional archetype can make a single coherent trope.
