I'm pretty sure there were in-universe examples before. I can think of a couple off the top of my head. They should definitely be included.
It looks like Katsuhagi just decided, on his own and without any sort of discussion, that the page shouldn't have examples on it, and deleted them all. I'm going to put the in universe ones back, along side the ones detailing works which explicitly invoke this.

I see Katsuhagi deleting a bunch of RL examples and leaving a note that only in-universe examples are wanted. I do not see any examples added after that, although the note about In-Universe only got deleted by a subsequent troper. So this looks like a misunderstanding.

There was actually a TRS thread about it. Anyway, I'll add some in-universe examples later today.

The consensus was definitely in favor of axing the real life and limiting it to in-universe, but it was never made official , because everyone agreed and then forgot about the thread.
I believe this topic is of serious concern, and we should really stop forgetting about it.
The heading on the page should not say "examples", but "in-universe examples", so no YMMV gets added.
