Don't have time to answer these questions in-depth at the moment, but quickly:
1. Rembrandt painted during the Dutch Golden Age, within the broader frame of Baroque painting. Many of his students were encouraged to imitate his work.
2. Edvard Munch is springing to mind, but his work involves more general death and decay. DalĂ, if you count the weird melting in his work. My recommendation would be to search up "grotesque".
3. The Hands Resist Him.
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajWas thinking about suggesting Francisco Goya, but I realized he's actually about a century later, and thus an entire artistic movement later than Rembrandt.
Tumblr here.Ooh, I remember whom I was thinking of last night for 2 - Mark Ryden! His works are deliciously creepy.
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajFor grotesque body mutations, try H. R. Giger. He designed the titular Alien, and in general his pictures are scary looking.
ShineOooh, THAT picture.
Can't find any with my web-fu.
Who DOESN'T know that guy...
Is there any painting that depicts a rampaging man tearing people in half left and right?

Sorry, I just don't know where to take this question.
I'm researching some artists for my work, and currently needs to find artists who...
1. has styles similar with Rembrandt. I really like his style and what is it called?
2. draws many pictures dealing with horrific body mutation, like Hieronymus Bosch or Francis Bacon (yeah, yeah.)
3. draws Nothing Is Scarier type pictures, ones other than those who mentioned in the page.
I'm thinking of writing a dark Urban Fantasy that prominently features bizzarely and horrifically shaped monsters and frequent hallucinations/nightmare, yet features a lot of Scenery Porn. Any artists I can take note of?
