A Game of Gods: Infinities

Rey didn't stop going at Scorpion even as Tick grabbed him. Rather than clawing, though, he simply grabbed at his attacker, trying to keep hold of him to prevent the separation, even as Tick was trying to pull him away, snatching at his arms, his clothes, his mask, whatever he could get. All he was getting out were continued cries of "Leave me alone!" even as this was happening.

Scorpion took advantage of one of the grabs and yanked Rey out of the Tick's grasp and started countering every yank Rey attempted with a punch to that hand. However, if Rey could get a good grasp and yank Scorpion's mask...

Meanwhile, Jail has finished preparations and went outside to others, arriving in the middle of the scene.
His face very clearly read "the fuck is going on here", though he still managed to snark:
"Am I... interrupting something?"

As the fight teleported to the roof (along with Tick), Garland sighed. "Entertaining enough while it lasted."

"I don't know what to say," Mehir told Jail. "If you'd have arrived but a moment ago, the answer would've been yes... But now, I'm not so sure, since Scorpion teleported himself, Rey, and the Tick to another place."

"Does anyone else want to kill Scorpion? Because I want to kill Scorpion."

Rey yelped at the hits to his hands, though with them being armored, he was able to mostly ignore the pain. He kept his attempts at grabbing and hitting, still as frantic as ever.

"Before or after killing me, Cletus?" Jail joked, looking around for Grey.

"Before. You've done something around here other than killing me and causing Rey massive psychological trauma."

Cletus followed Jail, motioning for Subaru to come as well. No reason he shouldn't have backup while tailing this psycho.

During the confusion, Rey managed to pull on Scorpion's mask. Eventually, the mask came off, and as soon as it did, Scorpion balled up to cover his head.

"You..you took my face?!" he said, his voice breaking a bit. But soon after, he looked up, and Rey and the Tick would both be horrified at what they saw. Scorpion was not a man, as he had told everyone. He was a hellspawn, and he was going into a self-preservation mode known as the Inferno state. Rey would find that Scorpion's head was actually a skull, and that skull was now catching fire and screaming at Rey, "   GIVE! ME! MY! FAAAAAAACE!   "

Tick looked between the two, not knowing who to calm first. And then the mask came off.

"BY THE BEARD OF LEONARDO DA VINCI!" Thinking fast, Tick clamped his hands over Scorpion's head.

This was a very stupid move on the Tick's part. Scorpion let his head burn further, and the Tick would now be on fire himself. This was not something the superhero could stop.

As soon as the mask came away, Rey stumbled backwards, landing on the ground with a thud, and sat up, clutching the mask in his face...and froze immediately on sight of Scorpion's uncovered face, staring at him with wide eyes, having gone totally mute again. Whether it was shock at the bizarre horror in front of him or something else, it would be hard to say.

"OOOWWWWHY DID I DO THAT?!" Tick pulled his hands away and blew on them.

Dodgers simply observed the situation. He strapped the Plasma Gun back to his belt and tapped his foot on the ground:

"Situations like these will, in the end, bring us together as an unlikely family."

Jack, while shocked at the revelation regarding Scorpion's nature, did not allow it to distract him from the task at hand. He advanced in the shinobi and attacked with a flurry of punches and kicks, drawing on his martial arts training. He hoped it would be enough to halt the other man's murderous attacks.

Scorpion was now fully in his Inferno state, and he couldn't really control himself. He immediately started wailing on Rey, punching over and over.

"   Don't!   " -whack!- "   Take off!   " -whack!- "   My FACE! If you EVER!   " -whack!- "   Do that AGAIN!   " -whack!- "   I will RIP YOUR MOTHER-   " -whack!- "   -FUCKING-   " -whack!- "   HEAD off!   " -whack!- "   NEVER!   " -whack!- "   DO!   " -whack!- "   THAT!   " -whack!- "   AGAIN!   "

At the same time, he accidentally stomped on the Tick's foot. Subconsciously, the instinct to flee kicked in, and Scorpion teleported the three back to everyone else. He looked up, and everyone else would now see him as he concluded his pounding. The horror of what he was doing came over him, and the fire on his skull started burning out.

"My God, What Have I Done?" And then he buried his head in his hands, ignoring that Rey held the mask.

Fluttershy was just standing there, looking on at the whole conflict tentatively. At first she was relieved when Jack and Subaru managed to calm down Rey, but then Scorpion just had to goad the wrestler into a fight. She had no idea why anyone, let alone Scorpion, thought that provoking violent conflict would be helpful. She flinched at every attempt Scorpion made to hit Rey, only for it to be blocked by someone.

And then Rey finally snapped and started clawing at the ninja's face. Tick tried to help, but all three disappeared in bursts of flames. She heard screaming from the roof of the castle, and then in bursts of flame all three of them reappeared......but with Tick's hands on fire, Rey's face badly beaten, and Scorpion......without a face, and his head ON FIRE!!

Fluttershy recoiled at the ninja's true face......but then turned his attention back on Rey. She galloped towards him. "Someone, we have to get him inside and help patch up his face!" the pegasus called out, trying to move the wrestler.

"I have something I should have told you all a long time ago," said Scorpion. "I am not a man. I am a hellspawn, revived by the vengeance of a dead man. I have wasted a whole decade of unlife in rage. I thought being here was a sign I could overcome that...but I was wrong. I am a monster."

He buried himself in a fetal position. He wanted only one thing in the whole world right now, and that was to cry. But he was incapable of crying. And that just made the pain and guilt all the more unbearable.

Mehir's anger vanished. Scorpion reminded him of Rashti, of the constant bickering between her Dharma and Ho sides before she achieved her true form.
"Don't say that," he said. "You can change."

Tick slowly put his hands down, "...I've seen many a terrible thing in my time. Including an army of sapient filth in the sewers. But what I saw today...well, I think I can safely say I understand your aggression a little better now, Scorpion. You are forgiven, but let this be a lesson."

Tick went to Rey and shook his shoulder. "Snap out of it, Rey Mysterio. Are you all right?"

After just a couple minutes, Rey finally groaned, sitting up, holding his head, finally taking his helmet off and rubbing his temples.

"It feels like I got my ass kicked...what happened?" He blinked, then looked at the mask in his hands, making a face and tossing it away. "What the shit."

Scorpion grabbed the mask and put it on.

"Forgive me, Rey," said Scorpion, bowing before the luchador. "I went into the Inferno state after you took off my mask. Or maybe another perosnality took over again. Point is, I lost control and beat you over it. I...I don't know if I can make up for it..."
