*gets pitchfork* Even the uncoordinated loser that is I is capable of the dance! Clearly, Zeal, you're not ONE OF US!

Jokes aside, and on topic is seems to me that the idea of being effeminate means being gay because it seems to be a sort of "creating a dichotomy" sort of thing and being incapable of seeing beyond it. like "If you like dudes then you must be like a chick because chicks like dudes."

Additionally there seems to be some correlation between being a gay man and having feminine interests. I mean the stereotype is all too common of a gay gent being well groomed (to an extent far further than the average man is willing to go) and highly fashionable among other things.

It also depends on the environment. In my hometown of Lowell all you have to do to be considered "queer" is walk erect and use words of more than one syllable that aren't motherfucker or cocksucker.

I think that there is an overarching confusion in society between homosexuality and transsexuality.

At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...

Camp Gays really do exist, and, unlike Straight Gays, they are conspicuously gay to outsiders, thus reinforcing the gay man = effeminate male trope in the wider cultural consciousness. As a side effect, it creates a effeminate male = homosexuality stereotype.

its really quite easy. How thin are his arms are and how high he holds his forearms, and lastly the hair. If a men has thin arms, holds his forearms at about belly button level a lot and has obviously put a lot of effort into his hair.

Now that doesn't mean someone is gay but it raises the alarm

then if he sit with his legs closely together, speak with a girlish tone, and has only female friends then its is almost confirmed.

Of course there are gay ppl who are not at all like this, but men who are like this are usually gay.

In the end this is just stereotyping do.

effeminate guys don't necessarily hold this characteristic but most effeminate guys are gay anyways. There is a reason for them being effeminate after all.

Wait...isn't Camp Gay supposed to be obsessed with being manly, sweaty, have large guns and cars, and grunting a lot while lifting weights?

Personal observations say....................girls like a clean shaven soft-spoken guy that bows instead of waving their hands to say goodbye....

So if a guy does act effeminate...something tells me they're looking for something other than the penis of other dudes.

More importantly, if you're gay, and you want to find other guys to play penis-tug-o-war with, why would you act feminine and girly? You want to find other gays, who are likely looking for other dudes to do man stuff with. So being effeminate completely contradicts that goal.

Always figured it had something to do with most latent gays (that is, gay people about 30 years old now) having been forced to adopt a social structure with strict gender roles that didn't conform to their perception of the world, so they deliberately trashed them.

It's more a generational stereotype than a sexual orientation stereotype, but it has enough comedic potential here and there to go a while before becoming a Dead Horse Trope.

Frankly, I'm not surprised to hear anyone's gay nowadays. Almost thinking I should try myself, see what the buzz is all about.

Or they dropped out of high school...

Speaking of education...how come they don't teach children about homosexuality in elementary schools?

I mean, we're taught how to put on condoms, different sex positions, definitions, how to be accepting of people with ST Ds, etc...but not once are we ever educated about homosexuality?

I remember in the first day of bio class when we talk about sexuality, the first thing the teacher said was...

"First things first...HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT AN INFECTIOUS DISEASE"...and some people were genuininely shocked by that fact...

So...if we want to stop people from being homophobic, turning ant hills into mountains, and making overused gay jokes...shouldn't we educate them in sex ed when they're still young information sponges?

They teach kids sex positions now? That's kind of weird, I don't see what's beneficial about that.

I do believe in the future they'll start teaching acceptance of gay people in elementary school, but it'll be a little while before that happens in the US. Old-fashioned conservative pseudo-religious jerks in power and all.

Sex education has changed a lot since I was in elementary/early middle school. They basically just told us, "Alright, guys get hair in more places, women get taller and start having boobs, also they bleed monthly now, guys you're gonna want to have sex with women, abstinence is great, but here's a condom, figure the damn thing out, stop giggling, this is serious."

Wait, I think I missed this the first time through - they teach you sex positions now?! I can't imagine the giggling involved in that class.

I call it "giving old people with outdated mindsets the finger and going ahead with educating children before they become future homophobes"

The sooner we do it...the sooner we'll be rid of people who thinks "effeminate=gay"

"Alright, guys get hair in more places, women get taller and start having boobs, also they bleed monthly now, guys you're gonna want to have sex with women, abstinence is great, but here's a condom, figure the damn thing out, stop giggling, this is serious."

That's so boring...

And while abstinence is brought up...they said it was pointless, because kids will have sex whether they're wearing a white ring or not. So they taught us how to put on a condom, and where to find condom, and other ways to avoid pregnancy...and more importantly, diseases.

If you could hold off on having sex until you find the right one, good for you, but if you honestly can't do something as simple as that, heres how to use a condom, apply lubricant, and how to dispose of it.

Although most of sex ed consisted of the educators telling embarassing stories of their friends when they first had sex.

And...for some reason, one class was devoted to gender equality...not sure what that had to do with sex ed.

You know what really pissed me off? They never talked about the IMPORTANT aspects of sex! The genetics! Double crossovers. Autosomal Recessive Disorders. Sex-Linked Dominant Disorders. The works!

Signed, is it really the duty of elementary schools to turn children against their parents?

Wait, wait, wait, wait a fucking minute — your sex ed class went over sex positions. How dare you complain that you didn't get any education about genetics?! My sex class basically only went over genetics!

I can't honestly remember the definition of what a haploid cell is without looking it up, but damn it, my fifth grade sex-ed teacher thought it was worth making us look up in textbooks!

is it really the duty of elementary schools to turn children against their parents?
...are parents really the ones teaching their kids about sex nowadays?
