Lightening Storm is a really good song.

@Liberated Liberater: Gonna second Korpiklaani and A Hawk And A Handsaw. Also, give Diablo Swing Orchestra a try. In addition to the usual instruments, they have a cello, trumpet and trombone. And their vocalist sings like an opera singer.

Does anyone know any good ancient song with Ominous Latin Chanting, like O Fortuna (well, I don't know exactly how old or whether if that's even really Latin but hell, that's the only thing I can think of)?

Okay, complicated request here.

Let's see... I'm after recommendations of specific songs/pieces which I might like. I find searching for music particularly hard, especially since individual bands don't tend to make more than one or two songs I like. In general I like Pop music (Tears For Fears, Eurythmics and The Killers are bands I'll admit to liking), but you'll probably have to take a look at my last.fm profile to see what kind.

Alternatively, I only consider voices another instrument anyway, so you can try and recommend me something more soundtrack-like. Something like one of these pieces of music perhaps. Though I'm sure they lose something without context.

Anyway I probably don't know what I want, so if you guys can recommend anything I'll give it a try.

What are some sentimental song with very soft and slow accoustic guitar playing? I want something like Falling Slowly.

Last year I offered a metal-loving friend of mine Ayreon's Universal Migrator, which she really really loved and she downloaded al of the rest of his works through perfectly legal means. This year I want to offer her something similar enough to fit in her comfort zone but different enough that it doesn't feel like I'm being lazy. The same author is right out.

Try Devin Townsend, then. The guy has done pretty much every kind of metal ever (maybe except power), there oughta be at least an album she would enjoy.

I've been getting into movie soundtracks a lot, lately. Any recommendations? I'm pretty open to trying out anything.

What are some classical musics that are like New World Symphony, you know, lots of trumpets and percussions?

Not a clue. All I can think of is the Metallica cover group, Apocalyptica.

Guys, I'm in the mood for something baroque. Something Castlevania-esque. Organs and harpsichords and the like. Squealing guitars and loud as hell vocals too if that's available. Any recs?

I've discovered that I find jazz music the best thing to listen to while driving. Unfortunately I don't really know that much about it, so can anybody recomend me anything?

This is as far as my musical knowledge goes in terms of Jazz.

Anyone know any songs that sounds like but DOESN'T sample "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" by Hall & Oates? I have to emphasize the not-a-sample thing cause this song's been sampled a lot. Seriously. The song has a unique sound by itself, and i want to know if any original song sounds similar.
