I freaking love BOI, and I'm generally very open minded with indie games.

...But this? I dunno...15 dollars for a remake of a five dollar game? And a downright pathetic "loyalty" discount?

I dunno...I don't know if I approve of Ed's decision here, especially after Guacamelee handled loyalty for their own remake much better not even an entire month before this.

It's a lot more than a remake. It contains everything from Wrath of the Lamb, at least another expansion's worth of content, a new engine, co-op, and multi-platform release. At the very least (Isaac + two expansions), that comes out to either ten or eleven dollars (can't remember if Lamb is $2.50 or $3.00 off the top of my head) - which is what the price is with the loyalty discount or thereabouts. (And 33% or so is "pathetic"? Really?)

And it's not like the price of a game drops when it's been out for a while, or when the sequel (one that is simply superior in everything regarding gameplay at that) is coming out soon... oh wait. (At the very least, I remember it dropping to $2.50 with 75% off during Steam sales past, meaning that it used to be $10.)

Not to mention that, and this is an assumption, if you're the kind of person who whines about a video game being more expensive than you'd like, you're probably the kind of person who wouldn't be paying that price anyway, no?

The original Bo I gave me a good 150+ hours of fun, this one has even more in it and looks to be even better than the first. I'd say $15 is a steal. Hell, I'd even pay a full $50 for this, it looks so much fun and I feel like I owe these guys something for Bo I being such a fun title that I got on sale for only 2 bucks.

I don't appreciate the assumption, pal. I buy all my games legally.

I'm just saying that I'm not sure I approve of this. Of course I'll still end up buying it anyway, since I'm a sucker for Isaac.

Rebirth also has made a giant overhaul with the items and how they synergize. That has got me pumped by possible combos,

FINALLY.

Key items: Epic Fetus, Lv.3 Meatboy, Bible, Goat Hoof.

Somehow I only took one heart of damage in the final fight.

I've had all items unlocked for a while, but because I've never been able to find SMB Fan or Daddy Longlegs, I don't have Platinum God.

Rather irritating.

I don't even have the Polaroid yet. My aim at the moment is to beat the Chest at least once before November.

I think all I have left before Platinum God is doing a zero-damage-run on the Depths. Which is hard, of course.

(I already cleared the Womb without getting hit. Hooray for Epic Fetus + flight.

I am aiming on beating Isaac with every character, then work on beating Satan. Then ???

So far I have beaten Isaac with ???, Eve, Judas, Cain and Magdalene and I have beaten Satan with Samson and Isaac.

I really should try The Purist challenge. As tempting as it would be to abuse the selection glitch, I do need to complete The Cathedral with Isaac.

I never bothered with the selection glitch. Didn't feel worth it.

[up] Using "Isaac was Good Today" I was able to beat Stan as Samson.

Speaking of challenges, beat "The Purist" easy and unlocked the Polaroid, the D20 & Daddy's Love while I was at it. First time lucky I guess.

Key Items: Epic Fetus, The Nail, Little Gish, Lv 2 Meat Boy, 1UP that never got used but gave me confidence.

EDIT: Beat ???/The Chest for the first time.

  • Character: Samson
  • Items of note: Technology 2, Polyphemus, Blood Rage, The Peeper, Relic, Mitre and The Bible (Polaroid by necessity)

I'm on a streak today

Thank god you beat Stan. Stan's an asshole grin

Jokes aside, nice job. Samson's probably the worst character in the game aside from ???

Throughout all 10 challenges, I never got either of the Technology items. Then in my first game after beating the Purist, I got Technology 2 for the first time. (Also fun: I was ??? and started the first floor in front of the treasure room door, where inside stood the Whore of Babylon. Died in the Cathedral.)

Oh how I missed treasure rooms.

[up][up] "Typo" Intentional. "Stan" is my favourite nickname for the Prince of Darkness, so every time I go to Sheol I say to myself "Gotta go see Stan today."

First time playing ??? I beat Isaac for the first time. I just tend to get obscenely good runs on the worst characters.

I got both technologies once. It was awesome. I've never been able to repeat that, though. Technology is too useful to find consistantly...

I hope the new version has controller support, can be played at 1080p and is basically a proper game this time instead of the lazy mess the first game was.

Even the creator has admitted that the first game was a lazy mess he threw together in 2 months.

It just happened to be a really fun lazy mess.

Yeah, I've read recently that, if anything, the success of Isaac shocked Ed more than it did anyone else.

Anyone watch Northernlion's Lets Play of The Binding of Isaac? It's probably the longest T Bo I letsplay out there (it's, what, around 900 episodes, with each episode being an average of 35-40 minutes?). It might even be the longest Letsplay of any game, ever (well, longest letsplay of one game, by one person. I'm sure people like Raocow or Pewdiepie have more episodes, but they're spread over several games).

I do watch his let's play, or to be more acurate I listen to them because of his ramblings they are nice to listen to while playing other games. I remember reading that there is a let's play of minecraft that 1000+ episodes but the episodes where around 5 minutes long so Nothernlion has more time in less episodes.

So. I'm playing a round with ???. Early on, I got Whore of Babylon, A Rock, A Lump of Coal, Odd Mushroom (large), Spider's Bite, Mutant Spider, then near the middle got The Common Cold, The Parasite, and the Harlequin Baby.

So basically I'm firing 6-8 tears somewhat quickly, and I haven't even reached Mom... and then in Depths 2, I encounter the Epic Fetus. I didn't think I'd ever come to a time when I wouldn't want the Epic Fetus, but I guess here I am. It feels like a waste.

EDIT: Aaaand... died in the cathedral. Compasses are indispensable. A pity I don't have one, and the boss room turned out to be in the last place I was to check. Didn't even reach it.
