Congrats on the Omega kill Serenitas. As for Neo, starting from normal Exdeath I would have the Bard sing the speed song until your Berserkers are pulling moves annoyingly fast. Then, I would have the Geomancer whack the Bard to break him out of their song followed by the Bard singing the song that increases your level. Once Neo shows up, whack your Bard again and keep him on stand by for healing. Have your Geomancer (with an air knife) cast gaia. You should get a multi-target air spell.

I forget if the level song increases magic damage.

I'm late on this, but one possible strategy would be to do the speed song as described here, but before the battle, make the Berserkers barehanded. After the speed song is high, use the strength and level songs and eventually, your Berserkers could be deals 9999x2 damage each attack, and rather often.

@Stevebat: On the bright side, that was not the third class ya rolled up! Last year, I wound up having to go at Ifrit with four geomancers, and that was not fun in the slightest, what with Ifrit having a group damage spell that was percentage-based to always do 25%, which was enough to wipe a recent revival, and having to basically go knives crazy and pray I do not get hit with said attack too much. Still, ya got my sympathy on missing out on a class if I am understanding right.

Still convinced to call Ifrit Brickfrit for how badly he brick walled me last year.

It's not quite missing out, My options are: A. Skipping the class or B. Grinding to the fire crystal to get the class then grinding the class out on the local mobs until I master it then seeing what the water crystal job is.

On the plus side that means I can throw rods at liquid flame. Also I can use Cure Staff on a freelancer. This makes things magnitudes easier.

After some grinding on the Karnak wolves, I went through the Fire Ship and took care of Mr. Flameo Heatsman. When escaping Karnak, I only took from the un-monstered chests (sans the elvin mantel and main gauche). My fire job is Ranger... Oh boy, I will have to wait a while before seeing that.

My current run is White Mage, Time Mage, and Ranger. I am full of squishy non-heavy combat classes. I swear, I would be somewhat disappointed if I get Chemist for my earth job. I would have no heavy attackers until I get holy.

I would say "have fun at the Library of Ancients with only support jobs," but Time Mage can break rods so that'll be fine for the bosses. Also once you get your Ranger you can always put Equip Bows onto one or both of your mages once you learn it for some extra offense if needed.

My second run (Random 750) is Black Mage/White Mage/Geomancer/Red Mage. I've now officially had every class in a fiesta run (had previously been missing Black Mage).

Are there items that can be used without breaking them? I read about a particular item that casts Haste or Life I think? But is also a piece of equipment.

Yep, here's the list of all non-breakable items with effects when used as an item:

  • Masamune: casts Haste
  • Defender: casts Protect
  • Wonder Rod: casts Return (also cycles through all black/white spells on attack)
  • Lilith Rod: casts Osmose
  • Judgment Staff: casts Dispel
  • Sage Staff: casts Raise

Well, I got through the library. I only used one rod for Ifrit and Byblos and finished things off with a Time Mage with a Main Gauche (damage ~150). I figured, no point on wasting a rod when there is only ~700 points of HP left. I also learned that Byblos is susceptible to gravity. I now have the fire ship and I am b-lining to Crescent Island.

I can't tell if the game is trolling me or wanting to help me. I just got the Ranger and I walk back to the island town to get more bows. As I head back, I encounter two fights with Harvesters and I managed to get 2 Death Axes back to back. Wow. Thankfully, that absolves me of money grinding for now.

...and I went through more of the four job fiesta, having made it to the water crystal... and I rolled up... oh no... no no no no no no no no no! That is bad! I have rolled berserker. Butz is being assigned to berserking, whilst everyone else sticks it up with black mages. I simply hope I do not get 3 berserkers.

Tomorrow, I aim to settle the score with brickfrit and regain my honor after being at his mercy last year.

[up]You may as well get the Death Axe I mentioned earlier now that you have a Berserker. It will make getting through the rest of world 1 and most of world 2 a cake walk since the game devs didn't think to put death resistance that early on. Of course, zombie enemies will make you regret having said axe, but they are few and far between.

[up]Noted.

Also, as of now, I had gone past the fire crystal, and I had received the fire job, Ninja! (What the heck, chaos run? I thought you'd jumble things up on me. However, I stumble in the library, and with everyone at level 20, I had a terrible incident with a back attack from a page 64. No points for what it casted. Level 5 death. One wipe on the party ensued, and I feel boneheaded for forgetting to save after the sequence, so more cutscene slogging through... ergh! I'm definitely going back in that library though. I was merely dumb with the first crusade.

  • Party level as of post: 20
  • Total Party Kill count: 1 (64 ambush of death)
  • Jobs: Black Mage (1), Berserker (1), Ninja (2), Unknown
  • Run type: Chaos with berserker risk.

Man, I am so glad I have the Ranger now. Those elemental bows and higher damage output has made the last few bosses easier. The boss that belongs on a Red Lobster menu went down in three hits with a lightning bow and the Adamantoise was taken care of thanks to the frost bow.

Edit: I beat Archeoavis and I keep forgetting that the final form of Arch. is immune to elemental attacks. Kind of wished I bought those silver bows for my Rangers. Oh well. I now have my earth class and it is Samurai. I finally have a good attacking class with a multi targeting attack. I'm half tempted to buy Chemist just to see how well I can do with only 4 supportive classes. It would certainly make the Ranger's X-fight less usable by then end of the game.

Edit 2.0: I just noticed; the job fair dropped the price of the Mime and Freelancer classes to $3 and $2 respectively. In a way, I'm glad for the price drop since I plan to do a random/chaos upgrade run later I want to buy either of those two classes as my final job.

I just started doing this and I already got my second job

So far I have Knight and Mystic Knight

As it turns out there's very few things Two Handed slashes can't deal with, especially Spellblade Two Handed slashes.

I sure do miss a healer though.

Four Bards walked up to omega. Three of them tied him down while the fourth one started singing a shanty.

Then one of them called his friend Ramuh to repeatedly post embarassing photos of Omega on instagram tumblr and facebook. At which point Omega kills itself in shame.

The nerds finally got their revenge.

Another update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wRMTErhvzE

From after Siren up to Garula.

Kinda TPK'ing at nearly every boss, but I don't care. I forgot to bring more Potions for Garula, so I'll do that next run.

Should be finishing up run #2 sometime today. I anticipate everything will die quickly to the power of Dualcast.

Good job Steve. Never underestimate the power of rock!tongue

Likewise, I should continue my first run. I just started world 2 and got to the first town. I should probably give Lenna Ranger. I want my future White Mage to have bows and gain some offensive abilities.

On my main run, I just finished the Forest of Moore and that would mean I am back to where I left off in my GBA bonus jobs only run. All that's left is to set everything back, be it my jobs, abilities, and items.

If anyone knows any good gameshark codes that can reset my jobs and give me a certain number of job points, that would be wonderful.

With Thief and Summoner, ending up grinding for stuff, mostly Rods and other equipment. Beat Shiva, although in hindsight, not sure if that was really necessary.

So I've finished my previous run with a triple crown, apparently bard is an automatic win versus the superbosses and makes for an incredibly easy Neo Exdeath.

Next run is a classic with White Mage/Thief/MonkKnight/Black Mage that I totally didn't job fair.

For my run, I am now on the third world and just got the chicken knife. Hopefully, that will make my Samurai suck less. I'm kind of surprised that my Ranger is out damaging the Samurai.

The key to Samurai is that his instant death attack is instant death.

Also Money rain is exclusively level based and works amazing on certain bosses.
