2018-06-16 Update:

New Rules: Forbidden (#Reg Forbidden): Players wilÄŸÆŸÈŸÊ¡Ì Î˜Ð–ÒŒÓŒÔŒØ¬Ù¬à¤Œà¥Œá‚¬áŒášŒá›Œá´ŒáµŒá¸¬á¹¬áº¬á»¬á¼¬á½¬á¾¬á¿¬â€¬â¬â‚¬âƒ¬â„¬

Sorry for being late, kinda forgot.

2017-06-03 Update:

New Rules: Fifth Job (#Fifth Job): Tweet out #Krile when you get her to join your party and your Earth job will be overwritten with an entirely different job. You lose access to that job and have to use the new one you get!

Popular (#Reg Popular): Jobs are weighted to the Twitter voting that went on during the Spring.

2016-05-31 Update:

New Rules: Upgrade upgrade (#upgrade)

Upgrade can be added to any non Natural-run. To do so either tweet #upgrade to Gilgabot after registering or include it in your registration tweet. What this means it that you intend on playing with these extra rules in mind.

You will only use your Wind Job until you get your Water Job. Water until Fire, and then Fire until Earth. Then your Earth job will be the job you use until the end of the game. Any abilities learned from the previous jobs may be used.

There is also apparently a hidden command, although it's currently hidden.

2015-05-30 Update:

New rules: Chaos (#regchaos) - You will be assigned jobs.

2014-06-01 Update: Doing all of this on the Wii U so keeping it short. Most of the stuff are the same from before.

New rules: #RegFF1 - A #Natural run where you only get the classic six jobs of the original Final Fantasy: Knight(instead of Fighter), Monk, Thief, Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mage.

2013/06/01 Update: Pre-registration has started. The challenge itself is going to start on June 17th.Rules are here, although I'm also listing them out here.

The Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta is a Final Fantasy V Challenge Run that's run via Twitter. After registering(by tweeting "#reg", "#regrandom", "#reg750", or "#regno750" to "@FF5ForFutures", can also tweet "#natural" or "#BERSERKERRISK"(only during pre-registration) for an additional challenge) players should play and make way until the reach the first crystal. At that point, they should tweet "#wind" to @FF5ForFutures in order to get their first job. In a normal Four Job Fiesta challenge, they must then change all of their characters to that job. In a #natural run, they must change Bartz to that job and no one else; the rest must remain their Bare or Freelancer job. In either case, these jobs must remain until the next crystal

As you get each crystal, tweet the crystal name("#water", "#fire", or "#earth") to be assigned your next job. In a normal play, each player must use, and only use, at least one of each job. They may use multiples of any jobs they were assigned, but must always have at least one of each that they've been assigned. In #natural play, Bartz must continue to use the assigned #wind job for the entire game, Lenna must use the Bare/Freelancer until the player receives their #water job, from which point she must use that job until the end of the game. Same goes with Faris with the #fire job, and Galuf/Krile with the #earth job.

There's a few other variations this time around. Registering with "#regrandom" makes it so that you might receive a job from an earlier crystal in place of the current one. Registering with "#reg750" means that you will only receive jobs from the following list: White Mage, Black Mage, Blue Mage, Time Mage, Summoner, Red Mage, Geomancer, Bard, Chemist, Dancer. These are jobs that lean more towards magic. Registering with "#regno750" mean that you will only receive jobs from the following list: Thief, Monk, Knight, Mystic Knight, Berserker, Ninja, Beastmaster, Ranger, Samurai, Dragoon. These are jobs that learn more towards physical combat.

"#BERSERKERRISK" means that for each $10 donated, one random person who tweeted "#BERSERKERRISK" will have one of their jobs replaced with a Berserker. If there's enough $10 donations so that everybody with "#BERSERKERRISK" gets one job replaced with a Berserker, then some will get two, and so on.

Additionally, revenantkioku is doing a run before everybody starts, and people can vote to determine what jobs he'll use here: http://fourjobfiesta.com/rkrun.php. Donating will give you a vote for each dollar you spend.

2012/05/31 Update: Pre-registration has started. The challenge itself is going to start on June 17th. Rules are here, although I'm also listing them out here.

The Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta is a Final Fantasy V Challenge Run that's run via Twitter. After registering(by tweeting "#reg" or "#reghard" to "@FF5ForFutures"), players will be given a single job from the first crystal of the game. Once they reach the crystal, they must change the job of each of their characters to that job. If the Monk Job is chosen, for example, then they must have four monks in their party until the next crystal. Each time the player reaches a new crystal, they tweet as such("#water", "#fire" and "#earth" respectively) and gain a new job. From that point on, they must have at least one character with each job that was chosen for you and each of your character must be one of the jobs that was chosen for you. You play until you defeat the last boss and then show tweet a picture to show your accomplishment.

As an example(using the example page), if you get a Monk as your first crystal, all of your characters must be Monks until the second crystal. If you then get a Berserker for your second crystal, then you need to have at least one Monk and one Berserker at all times. The other two must be either a Monk or a Berserker. Assuming you get the Beastmaster for your third crystal, you must have one Monk, one Berserker, and one Beastmaster. The fourth character must be either a Monk, Berserker, or a Beastmaster. If your last job is the Dancer, then you must have a Monk, Berserker, Beastmaster, and a Dancer in your party at all times. You're allowed to switch jobs between characters whenever you want, but you should end up with these conditions when you exit the status screen.

New to this year's challenge is #reghard, or a more difficult version of the challenge. If you register with that tag, then the jobs you get may possibly be from a previous crystal, or even a job you already got. Although it hasn't quite been clarified, if you have two or more of the same job, you have to have two or more of that job in your party at all times. This can get rather difficult, so it's recommended only for more experienced players. That said, if you're up for the challenge, there's nothing stopping you from picking it regardless.

I'll update with more information as it comes.

Edit: Alright, this thread is from a year ago. It looks like they're going to do another fiesta this year starting in June. I'll update this post with more information as it becomes available.

Original Post:NeoGAF is doing something interesting... well, this is the third year they're doing it, but it was fairly interesting the last two years as well, and this year it's open to people outside of that site.

It's basically a challenge run of Final Fantasy V. How it goes is that at each crystal in the game, you normally get several new jobs to choose from and use. In this run, you only get one, determined randomly via twitter. Starting from the first Wind Crystal, you can only use the jobs that has been selected for you, and must use at least one of each job at all times.

That's the basics, anyways. Judging from the previous runs, it appears quite possible to beat the game with any combination of jobs. The recommended version of the game is the GBA one, although people seem to be using all the different versions.

In any case, it seems fun. Anybody interested?

I'm gonna give it a whirl.

So, are we allowed to master abilities from 1 of our 4 jobs and use it on another of our 4 jobs?

And wouldn't it suck if you were assigned Mime for your Water Crystal job?

Edit: And my job is Black Mage. Sweet.

Mime(and Freelancer/Bare) isn't among the available jobs, so it won't be picked, at least if it's similar to the previous ones.

There's more information in the thread I linked.

How do I take that picture at the end of my defeat of Exdeath? I don't have much tech on my hands. Can I just use a camera?

Guessing a camera would be fine. Most players seem to be using screen captures, but some used cameras.

I personally wouldn't mind giving this a whirl with Final Fantasy III.

The emotions of others can seem like such well guarded mysteries, people 8egin to 8elieve that's how their own emotions should 8e treated.

FF 5 is easily the best of the main series games. Strong characterization, no emo or pretentious bull shit, the good use of Rush Boss, well timed save points (these 2 make it very good as a portable game interestingly) and humor.

While only having 4 party members does provide most of the reason the cast is so strong, even the major supporting characters are memorable (Ghido, Cid/Mid and, of course, Gilgamesh.). The class system is fun as well. For almost all of them game, simply failing to run from encounters leaves you with more than enough leveling, avoiding any need to grind.

I consider it tied with VI for my favorite. They're both really great, but for different reasons.

Yeah, that's what I hear.

...I can mix and match job abilities, yes? Everyone has to have a different job at the end, but I can give them previously-learned abilities, right?

Yes you can. You can also switch which person is which job as long as all of the jobs you've been given up to that point is being used by at least one party member by the end of the switching.

Edit: In other news, the monk seems fairly easy, at least at first.

Edit 2: Interesting tip I found:

Just thought I'd remind anyone who's having trouble that the battle speed setting in FF 5 only affects enemies, so setting it to 6 gives you quite an advantage.

Hm. I got no real method for updatin', except with a camera, so I'm just sending #up tweets to Gilgamesh to put up updates.

In other news, Karlabos went down in 2 turns. I love Black Magic.

Monk is like FFT Monk and able to keep pace more or less with weapons end game, but insane early games. Rapidfire on a Monk is nice (no match for dual wield spell blade, but you will want to master monk if using that combo and you have mastered rapid fire by then anyways).

About to take on Siren.

They drop in the ship graveyard, if that counts as "early on" enough for you. Not sure about elsewhere. I got two, not that I really want to equip my broadsword wielding mages with them.
