Given the fairy tale thing they went with, I would have expected either a The Red Shoes or a Dorothy Gale Digimon, honestly.

It's going to be a card game series, so maybe we'll see some branching evolutions.

I hate to do a second post (even if it is three days after), but the Reference Book entry has dropped for Erlangmon. Normally, the New Century Digimon don't get entries this soon after being revealed. And no "Blind Idiot" Translation like there was during Digimon Con either.

Speaking of new Digimon, should we create a separate page for the Vortex Warriors now given that Pteromon's higher evos are members of that group?

I remember seeing a model for the red one, I can't find it again and no name has been given.

This is gonna seems like an odd question, but can someone name me a Virus digimon that:

1) Stays the Virus type from it's rookie to Mega form;

2) Isn't a beast or Reptile;

3) Wasn't introduced in Adventure (including 02), Tamers, or Savers;

and 4) has a full evolutionary line (rather than using other random mons to fill it)?

Been doing a bit of an experiment, and you'd be surprised how hard it is to find a mon that fits all five categories.

You could maybe argue that the Chessmon line counts because the Mega wasn't introduced in the Savers anime even though the rest of the line was?

The brand new Shoemon line certainly counts.

The Funbeemon line also counts.

Ok. Can you do the same for a Vaccine type?

Same rules as , but if necessary, you can use Adventure.

The Aegiomon line exists, although it uses the older, bestial Elecmon as its Rookie.

Angel type digimon don't really have 'standard' lines like that, but you can absolutely construct a line of just angel digimon that haven't been in an anime (such as Luxmon->Pidmon->Arkhaiangemon->Dominimon).

The Rookie through Ultimate stages of the Pulsemon line are technically classified as a Beast Man and Dragon Man, but the line doesn't really look like beasts or reptiles.

The line of Xiquemon->Huankunmon->Xiangpengmon doesn't have a standard Rookie, but is Bird->Fish->Bird (with the change coming from a Chinese myth). Could easily slot in whatever Rookie you want.

The Zubamon line looks slightly dragonic in some stages, but are technically Weapons rather than Reptiles.

I was thinking about the Yu-Gi-Oh card Diabellstar the Black Witch and the Digimon BeelStarmon / BelleStarmon, and about their name similarities, and found out from the trivia page for Diabellstar that there actually was an American outlaw named Belle Starr, and both of those words were part of her actual name, so her name wasn't itself a reference.

So in addition to Diablo/Beelzebub and other references, there's also this!

You know what I've always liked?

That pose that Paildramon does after finishing his evolution. It has that air of come get some to it. That pose should never change. Like, god help us if he ever poses like he's powering up DBZ style....

I've always had memories of the two Cherubimon in a very similar pose; their default pose, really.

Toei is simply unable to keep good things going.

We finally have an announcement about that mysterious red Digimon from New Century. It's a mode change for Takutoumon.

Seems Jupitermon isn't the only one with a Wrath Mode.

So, Kari's Gatomon has been evolving into Ophanimon since 2002, but it took Toei a reboot to properly aknowledge it. Joe's Gomamon turning into Vikemon has been a thing since 2013 instead, but no issue on that one, because it didn't cameo in Hurricane Touchdown for no reason.

Honestly, Goddramon going with Holydramon, and Seraphimon going with Ophanimon, is the way to go IMO. 2 great dragons, 2 great angels.

Then again, Gran Kuwagamon is a bit of a mess, borrowing more elements from Stingmon than from Kuwagamon, after H-Kabuterimon was meant to be the final stage of both Kuwaga and Kabuteri lines... Still loving it tho.

Takutoumon Wrath Mode has been added to the Reference Book, just in time to debut in New Century.

Every time I see Takutoumon written out, I read Takatomon, which is what Guilmon kept calling Takato in Tamers because he didn't understand the concept of something that wasn't a digimon.

With legs like that, I'd have expected Takutomon to have some kicking or stomping move.

Ditto. I think it's a common gag about the mon at this point.

I loved that bit in "Digimon: The Movie" when Diaboromon attacks the world's electronics, he jacks up the price of chocolate at a store while a woman's scanning it, and she casually calls out its $1 million price until she does a double-take.

"That must be some REALLY good Chocolate!"

That's just the least expensive three Michelin starred restaurant meal

So many great dub moments. "Thank you for visiting MEOW! dot com." was so funny, that I didn't realize that most websites don't have messages for when you leave the site (though I suppose maybe the cat was logging out, it seemed like it was closing the window).

So impmon got a new line that look like a punk rock version of the growlmon line.

Dragons with that look were a long time coming, even if it's a surprise that it is a line for Impmon.
