Fusion had a good Leviamon, and he's a freaking Great Demon Lord.

Also, clips of "Marty."

On that note, I'd like to see an actually Evil Beelzebumon.

He either pulls a Heel–Face Turn, or was never evil in the first place. I mean, he is supposed to be a Demon lord, so seeing him Demon lord it up would be awesome. But that won't happen cause he's had his time I suppose.

Any specific Digimon you guys would like to see, outside of the Ultimates / Megas of the other chosen?

Maybe a heroic variant of more Dark Masters. Not counting the ones that showed up in Season 3/Tamers, but ones we actually see in action. Puppetmon was it. And he still acted akin to his original self, but actually gained friendship. In fact, I'm guessing they wrote it that way on purpose in Xros Wars/Fusion.

...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.

[up] Also, strangely enough it's impossible to get a Myotismon in that game. With him and the final boss being the only exceptions, every other non-Mook Digimon can be obtained by you.

That's not true. There's a crapload of unobtainable Digimon in World. And that's not even including the recolours.

I never played Digimon World much. I kept getting Numemon/Sukamon, and that annoyed the hell out of me. Didn't help that I got a pirated copy, so there was no manual for me to refer to.

I wonder if we'll see Angewomon and Lady Devimon get in another catfight...or maybe Ophanimon vs Lilithmon.

Maybe we'll see a Seraphimon and Ophanimon that DON'T suck (coughcoughGoldenDigimentalscoughcoughFrontiercoughcough)

I'd like to see the Digimon themselves develop as characters beyond just being counterparts to their human partners. Gatomon is the only one out of both seasons to really have a backstory that is actually shown in the anime or in significant detail. Veemon is Ryo's old partner, but it's never brought up in the anime.

[up][up] This is both the strongest point of the show or the weakest depending on who you ask it. For a show about monsters with superpowers beating the crap out of each other Digimon really handles pretty well the development of the its human characters, but at the same time it doesn't happen with the titular monsters to the same extent, to the point people see it as an inversion of Just Here for Godzilla. While the monsters look cool and have amusing quirks, most of the time they coulnt more as an extension of their human partners and don't undergo the same degree of development. There are exceptions like Tailmon, however.

In the last season they tried to avert this by giving more focus to the monsters, but in my opinion they only managed to make a standard Mons show instead because this time the human characters were the ones lacking these points. In my opinion the only show that successfully managed to give both the humans and Digimon the same level of depth, importance and development up to this point was Tamers.

Semi accurate interview with the producer of digimon adventure tri, translated from the video

The title of this new work is Digimon Adventure Tri. What meaning does this have?

"Tri" is a reference to the number "3". But who knows, maybe in the scriptthe "3" can be a key word? You could say that's what it means. Of course it's also a reference to the fact that it's the third entry. Without a doubt, people will have to pay attention to the many 3's that are in the script.

Please give us some details about this new work that takes place 15 years after the first generation of Digimon Adventure.

We thought of a reunion after 15 years had passed, and we're working on something fully aware that years have come and gone for everyone (the public). I think the story, how it presents itself as an anime, is turning into something geared more towards adults. I want the people who enjoyed the old days of Digimon Adventure, and, of course, the people who today enjoy Digimon Adventure, to watch and enjoy Digimon Adventure Tri in the same way. At the same time, I want the people who did not watch the original back then to enjoy this new release, get to know the original season for the first time and enjoy all it has to offer.

We would like to know something more about the main image we have from this new season...

We wanted something that said "a reunion of the kids and their partner Digimon" and "the meeting again of the characters from that season and the fans". I wanted the sentence on the official website, "We will meet again", to have this same meaning behind it.

As for the image. There's a shot in the opening of Digimon Adventure where you see the kids being sucked into the Digital World, and they seem to be falling into a very deep place. From this we thought, "What would we see if the kids looked a little older and if we drew them in this same scene?"

Now please let us talk about the staff that's been announced for this season.

For this new season the priority was character design. We find ourselves in a new era, and the design should be welcomed by a wide range of age groups, and, of course, you should keep what worked from the old times. The one who made this difficult balance possible was the current character designer Uki Atsyua. I think it's a design that gives us abundant expression when made to move through animation but always sticks to simple contours. Additionally, Motonaga Keitarou was the person chosen to direct.

I have given this new season to people who have a lot of quality work behind them already so that we could have a strong production, design good battle scenes, among other things, no matter who got involved. Series Composition is the charge of Kakihara Yuko, who teams up with Motonaga, the director. In this season's staff we also have people who will watch the new season when it airs, because in this wonderful group you have staff members who are excellent watchers/observers (laughs).

Be up front! Tell us something we should pay attention to in this new anime.

I hope you pay attention to things like "Will these 8 kids join forces again?" or "How are they now, having grown up?" A clue to this whole season can be found in the final story at the end of Digimon Adventure 02. I can tell you that a few words in the last monologue are now turning into the main theme (of the new season). What will they do as they confront different problems so that a union between Humanity and the Digimon can be achieved quickly? In other words, we want to show the union between people and the Digimon.

Please wait for the Spring!

I played it heavily as a kid, but going back to it recently, I found it really hard to get into. Some of the mechanics are just so frustrating.

i'll always have a soft spot for DW but there were a lot of things that could have been tidied up:

1. digivolution requirements are fairly obscure and there's no way to know the exact parameters necessary. you mostly just have to make a guess to invest in whatever and see what you get. they really should have just given you at least vague descriptions of the requirements once you unlock a particular digimon.

2. you don't actually have that much control over what happens in battles. you can give your partner commands that affect their ai, but as far as actually controlling what attacks they use and whatnot, you don't have much agency.

I agree with both of those, but I'll add that figuring how to recruit certain Digimon or even learn they exist to be recruited can be a ridiculous Guide Dang It!. Some are so unintuitive.

For evolution I really think that there should have been hints given even for Evolutions that have not yet been reached. Once a form has been reached, I don't see a need for any secrecy about the requirements.

Combat was weird in that game. The method for learning techniques was pretty unreliable.

I love this game, but I admit one of its most glaring flaws is leaving the player in the dark for a lot of things. It is near impossible to fully complete it without a guide and I would recommend to at least use an evolutionary guide in order to make it less frustrating, otherwise the many Numemons you may get can really take away the fun of it.

By the way, a Numemon in Digimon World works more of less as a failsafe. If you have a Rookie-level Digimon with you and you didn't fulfil the requirements for any of its possible evolutions, then he will become a Numemon as soon as time for evolving into a Champion-level expires. Hence the need of a guide.

There are guides for evolutionary requirements in the internet if you ever feel like trying it again at some point.

Also, the trick of raising a Digimon is in not letting it get too tired, I always make it rest either in Jijimon's house or in Centarumon's clinic after 4 or 5 uses of the training machines depending on the level (evolving also counts as resting for some reason). Try to bring Palmon to city as soon as possible because her giant meats are a much better nourishment than the standard ones. And not evolving into Sukamon is easier, just don't let your Digimon poop in the ground because it raises the virus bar, and once it gets to the max... you already know what happens.

So, I recently marathoned the very first season, that I had never really seen entirely before − thanks to the airing of the French dub being rather chaotic at the time, sometimes skipping several episodes or going back to the beginning for no reason.

And after a few episodes I thought "wheeeew… it aged baaaadly. evil grin " The characters felt clichéd, the dialogues awkward, the fight scenes were just painful to watch, and that Transformation Sequence... as cool as I found and still find it, did they really need to play it entirely, with song and all, every time a baby Digi evolved to fight a bunch of Numemons?

But, ah well, while the Devimon arc was a painful punch in my childhood's guts, when the Etemon arc came I started to remember little by little why I was a fan of this series. The fights remain mostly dull and slow, with a few exceptions (Wargreymon vs. Metalseadramon notably), but the characters start to gain a little depth, the story and universe get more interesting, and there are some admittedly gorgeous scenes that you wouldn't expect in a kid's show. Like... the entirety of episode 21! And I still generally like the humour. There still are a fair amount of clichés throughout the series nonetheless.

It's funny to hear Junko Takeuchi in her pre-Naruto period as Gomamon (and as Zudomon too), and Hiroaki Hirata as... I don't know, half of the supporting cast? [lol]

And to conclude, I'll be damned if Wargreymon isn't the coolest mon ever drawn. He would need his own series, seriously.

AGUMON! WAAPU SHINKAAAAAAA!!!
