^ This is a video game review site I have occasionally visited. It attempts to review video games and other media through a conservative (would calling it "fundamentalist" be going too far?) Christian perspective. The site ticks off quite a few items on the "stereotypical Moral Guardians chart".

Frankly, this site confounds me often (and even enrages me at times, though I'm a little bit of a Christian myself). What do you think?

Graphically speaking Defend your Castle does not look that great. The throwing of the stick figures and having them fall to their deaths is repulsive to this reviewer. Sure it may only be stick figures, but 9/11 is still fresh in the WMG’s mind.

Uh. How does falling stick figures equal 9/11?

[up]People jumping off the towers after they got trapped on the upper floors?

Quite the stretch though...

There was a stick figure convention going on in the Twin Towers, you bastard.

One review of Ocarina of Time complains that they didn't change the three Goddesses to the Christian God for the American release.

Please let there be a review of a Shin Megami Tensei game, it would be comedy gold.[lol]

To be honest, it doesn't seem all that awful. It took me some browsing before I found any reviews that said something off, and even then it's not so batsh*t insane.

At least they like video games. XD

Reading through the stuff, the reviews are poorly organized and repetitive. He doesn't do quite enough research on the game or the game's history, so there's a lot of holes in his logic and arguments.

When it comes to the whole "religious values" thing, I mean, he could be worse. He could have been preaching games as the devil's toys, and he's trying to appeal to Christian families so you have to give some of his reviews credit. I don't know of anyone except some severely uninformed parents actually reading his stuff seriously.

Edit: Oh, I guess there's multiple people at work here. Still, none of them are really... uh, fantastic in the editing department.

At least he's not decrying every RPG as "HELLSPAWN BURN BURRRRRRRRRRN" like some other fundamentalist reviewers.

[up][up]christian values like this?

"War is never pleasant, but thankfully R-Type Command tones down those horrors. Saving the human race from the evil Bydo’s is fantasy based, and it makes me think of how Christians work diligently to save people from enslavement to sins. Sequels please."

Hey, their only problem with the likes of marvel vs capcom and soul calibur was that the ladies don't wear enough clothes and are trying to enslave you with lust. Well, that and violence. But otherwise, actually enjoyed playing the games.

I think that's what I can respect about this website: they clearly don't hate games, they are just looking at things objectively and saying "maybe talk to your kids about this stuff first?" There's a Christian bent I can actually get behind...

Hm. There's a mental image for ya.

[up][up]i do agree with their Advance Wars Days of Ruin since it is like totally Darker and Edgier than usual

but most of the reviews are irrational and way too fundamentalist christian

Innocent Life Harvest Moon falls badly in family friendly rating because it has witches

Rune Factory 2 falls because the pastor doesnt clearly explain if god is real

and this is Harvest Moon for gods sake

a game thats major premise is farming

This person confuses me greatly. Take, for example, his review of TWEWY. His comments imply that he really likes the game and thinks it has good lessons...yet he gave it a 65, the lowest score I've seen so far. He also says the graphics are awesome for the DS(which they are) but then scores it at a 61%. Still I have to laugh at his comment about how it encourages sexual deviancy. Something tells me the Joshua subtext didn't fly over his head.

edit: Apparently Pokemon Ranger put him off the series and he doesn't want to review the others. Shame as the next two games are vastly superior.
