Evil Dead

People who complain that the trailer "looked to gross" should look back at the original. A movie that had skin getting deformed, faces melting and exploding, and tons of dismemberment, is gory. The thing that stopped it from being gross was the cheesy stop motion effects and Ash's one liners in Army of Darkness.

This movie just seems to take itself a little more seriously. The first one does too.

Except all the effects in first three were no where near close to being an attempt at photo realistic. The blatently obvious use of the fake blood the foam rubber costumes and low budget effects suck a lot of the excessive detail out of the gore. I sitll highly doubt the first film took itself seriously.

Deliberate humour, hammy actors, over the top obvious low end effects, etc.

This was in Evil Dead 2.

It was also Evil Dead one. The word sparse applied to everything. Even their camera rigs were cheap lumber affairs and things like mounting the camera on a bicycle and running it through the cabin (and running over Campbell in the process).

The sum total of course is interesting in appearance.

I don't care how crappy the special effects were, the movies creep me out everytime I watch them. I have faith in this, even though it might lead to nowhere.

Guess my stomach is a bit more hardened to the horrors of the horror genre.

I watched the grossest scenes again, and now....they don't live up when the nostalgia goggles came off. It was disturbing, but the dumbest creepypasta idea now seems scarier. Still, ED 1 was creepier then ED 2, which was cheesey enouh to be good.

ED1 did have some creep factor the first time I saw it. However repeated viewings only leads to laughing for me.

Getting on topic for this film

The got first cut of the movie to the MPAA and it got an NC-17 rating.

Theyre cutting it down for an R but this means we'll be getting an uncut version of the film on the DVD release.

That's just what happened with the first one. So things sound good so far.

Not really surprised that happened. It is kind of hard to sell NC-17 to as broad an audience vs an R rated one. Really from what we have seen this isn't surprising. I wonder what will get cut and what will be left in.

Of course per usual the Directors Cut will contain all the extra goop and gore.

Also if your responding to the post directly above yours you don't need the arrow. The arrow usually indicates one post above the post your post is after.

Not in my experience it doesn't.

Your experience is irrelevant that is the convention of it's use in the forum.

I find the arrows annoying, someone else could have commented before you finished making the comment.

Ignoring that nonsense: My favorite scene in ED 3 is when the monster comes out of the wall and gets pwnd by a chainsaw.

Lol.

I like the tower with the little ashes. Cracks me up.

I like the scene in one where the "force of evil" runs through the cabin and smashes into Ash.

Oh, and I was amused how Ash's clone became the main bad guy. It really changed the movie from "trying to be scary" to "YEAH!!!!". Not that I'm complaining.

So, I made a Wikipedia article on aforementioned Evil Head.

The release date (in North America, at least) has been bumped up a week, to April 5th.

Hug, Dead Island: Riptides also comes out in April. Zombie month, it looks like.

I don't think the battle was even mentioned until after the movie got its R-rating.

Fede Alvarez said everything that was in the trailers would be in the film itself.
