Caveat: I have no medical knowledge; this could be totally inaccurate.
However, I have heard that our muscles are actually capable of much more strength than we generally use, but this can pull them away from where they are attached to the bones, or something similarly painful-sounding. So perhaps your character is capable of vast strength, but it inflicts severe musculoskeletal damage? Or, if that would be impractical, how about just that it's very painful?

Scepticism and doubt lead to study and investigation, and investigation is the beginning of wisdom. - Clarence DarrowMake the character like a Viking Berserker, or a Cheetah, in that it can only use the strenghth for a short period and that it becomes REALLY weak and exhausted afterwards and have to rest for a while to "recharge"...
I reject your reality and substitute my own!!!Isn't that kind of like what happened to Shizuo in Durarara?

I like that idea. I think I'll use that, but I kinda wanna see what others will say, ya know.
My magicks aren't truly based on science - more like the vague "idea" most people naturally have about how things work. Scientifically, you can't dodge a bolt of lightning, but it makes sense in your mind.
Level 3 Social Justice Necromancer. Chaotic Good.OK. Anything else you need help with?

I reject your reality and substitute my own!!!perhaps his super streangh is limited in some way? perhaps he has to ask permision from the owner of a car to lift it for example, or it only works on wood, or every time he does some amazing feat of derring-do such as breaking through a door some goblin shows up a weak later to steal his, etc.
Super offense, Paper defense? Glass Cannon taken to the logical extreme.
Edit: Also iron allergy sounds like it could be totally amazing, if you do it right.

Still Sheepin'
In my work, nothing is free, everything has (a catch) and a price. Especially magicks.
What defines faeries in my work is this: they have slow aging (with difficulty breeding), quick healing (with blood hunger), and poison resistance (with iron allergy).
So, I have this one character who has strength, speed (with frictional burn), and sharp senses (with hypersensitivity).
My question is this: what kind of catch could there be for strength.
