I have no idea what to say about this film, though I think I liked it overall. I was a bit surprised we don't have a topic on it already, given how anticipated it was.

(BTW, if anyone else has seen it, the page could use a bit of work—I couldn't think of that many tropes for it.)

I'm hoping to see this soon. It seems like there are a lot of R-Rated comedies*

that are coming out this summer that I want to at least rent.

I thought it was great. The the three main characters were overall likable, and were sympathetic enough for the audience to get behind them in their plot to murder their bosses.

When I saw the commercials, I thought it was going to be stupid but wanted to see it anyway. Because Charlie Day and Jason Batemen are too good a pair to pass up. It was a lot better than I bargained for.

And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.

Did they make complaining about being sexually harassed by Jennifer Aniston believable?

I thought Dale was justified. Aniston was good as a sleazebag (with the creepy blackmail and rapey behavior, like coming on to patients who were knocked out by anesthesia.) Of course, many of the other characters acted like she was hot so was gives a crap about sexual harassment.

This movie was really good. Charlie was great.

This is a signature. Think of it what you will.

[up][up]But that's not so unrealistic (sadly). The reason the trope Rape Is Okay When It Is Female On Male even exists is because the mentality exists. But Dale's reaction makes up for it, I think.

^That's true. It was played out weirdly, I think. On one hand, it felt like the movie itself was kinda saying "this is creepy" and Dale was reacting like anyone would. But his friends were definitely not realistic. Of course, it could have been played that Nick and Kurt's reactions were idiotic, but I dunno. I think that definitely could have been played stronger. Julia had some absolutely creepzoid moments that anyone would freak out if a dude was doing them to a woman (or even another man).

Of course, I've seen audience members react exactly like Nick and Kurt.

The one thing that bothered me about this movie is how easy it would've been to take down Bobby and Julia from the start. Especially Bobby, the guy was constantly doing cocaine and hooking up with prostitutes on the job! Why didn't just call the cops on him? And as for Julia, Dale could've pulled the little tape recorder trick he did at the end of the movie any other time, it's not likely she went a day without harassing him.

Harkin was the only true villain, one step ahead and incredibly difficult to defeat.

I enjoyed it, but that doesn't mean it was good. It could of been much better; with a cast consisting of three of some of my favorite actors (Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis), you'd expect a lot more from the movie. The friends had chemistry, but I would of depicted them much differently then bumbling morons. I was personally surprised that I read people thought it was unoriginal since I've never heard of another movie like it, til I hear of 9 to 5 that is.

Also, For a black comedy, I would expect a lot different jokes, instead of random profanity or slapstick.

Lastly, the movie felt really sloppy, like they wrote one draft and never changed anything. The way Harkin was brought down felt more like a deus ex instead of a macguffin.

Loved the movie, and it's one of the few movies I ever bought on DVD. Believe me, I'm not much of a movie guy. Charlie Day is one of my favorite actors and he didn't disappoint. Strong cast, good performance from most.

[up][up][up] I don't think it was until towards the second half of the movie that they opted to just putting them away(onwards from when Bobby got shot). The whole time they were pretty much focused on killing the bosses so it's understandable.
