Straight Pride? Nice idea, but who the hell would attend? What would be the point!
"We're Straight! We've been here since the dawn of time! You're used to it!"
There isn't a Straight Pride parade for the same reason why there isn't an International Men's Day.
There are no goals to accomplish, and no milestones to celebrate.
This straight pride stuff is reactionary bullshit.
Very correct.
yeyI don't see what the big deal is, if he wants to have a straight-pride day so be it.
What really got on my nerves was the use of the terms "Some stubborn people" to describe the anti-LGBT rights movement as something that we aren't suppose to worry about.
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.Who's "we"?
Who isn't "we"?
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.Depends on the context.
Yes, take pride in being conventional. Why not start a parade for wearing jeans and walking on two legs?
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.If it ends with free booze and chicks making out; why not?
I swear, Americans will take any excuse to not go to work and get shitfaced. I mean, what other reason have we co-opted St. Patrick's Day and Cinco de Mayo? Also, if chicks start making out, then that's not exactly promoting "straight pride", is it?
Finally, is it just me or is anybody else constantly getting that banner ad about the gay hotel with the naked Asian guy up against the wall?

"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat. It'll be as controversial as White Pride.
Really, it's just Us vs Them, round 38,473,289,589 - or some ludicrous number up there.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.We don't get those days off.
Please.Aparently Gay people in Tumblr want to be oppressed, because if you didn't like his post, you obviously loves the feeling of being a victim, that is the only explanation
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly. Then why the hell are they holidays?
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.You said yourself, excuse to not go to work and get drunk.
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.Just a new spinon paranoia and crazy.
Who watches the watchmen? From the comments section on the Op's first link.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryNo, I still want a day for a parade; equality and all that jazz.
Go to gay pride with a shirt "Straight but not narrow" and be done with it.
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly. And gay pride isn't?
I can understand the guy's butthurt. Straight people (especially men) feel that they are basically being told that they owe the world an apology for being who they are when confronted with constant political activistism of minority groups. But shooting back with your own pride movement is the wrong attitude to take.

hashtagsarestupid^ Basically. That's the impression I get, anyway.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.People feel threatened because instead of asking "why are you guys having a parade?", they just jump into the conclusion "if they're proud of who they are, then that must mean they think they're better than me".
Though admittedly, there is a thin line between pride and arrogance. Nationalism/patriotism makes that very obvious, and I sometimes lapse into thinking no one should be allowed to be proud of their nationality, since it always leads into bigotry. Therefore, I won't blame anyone (too much) for thinking that people shouldn't be allowed to be proud of their sexuality.

Why some people want straight pride so much? and why they some don't like gay pride?
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.
