Aw yeah! Looks like this will be the first recent Mario Party (not counting the DS version) which I will buy.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!... Welp, I'm interested now. I hope the game plays as good as it looks.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Komodin is interested? =O
What kind of Alternate Dimension have I entered?!
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Aaaand, ONM seems to have deleted everything in the article relating to classic mode. So is the vehicle mode really the only way to move around the board then?
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Let's just hope that they accidentally breached some kind of nondisclosure agreement. Because although some of those mini-games look fun, and I like Shy Guy being in, I just... can't get past the vehicle thing.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaWell I don't mind the vehicle mechanic so much after 8. Changing up the formula a bit is probably necessary here to get it out of stale territory. (Which Hudson could've avoided if they didn't release more than 1 game per console!)
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I don't mind new experiments either, but changing up the entire formula all at once seems a bit too drastic. Like I said, I do hope there's still a Classic Mode, because... it just seems to me like having everyone moving at the same time kind of gets rid of the need for a board at all. Just make it a mini-game gauntlet in that case.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaPersonally, I really do dig the change of pace this time around. In fact, there's one thing I dislike about the previous Parties is that they were a tad too samey to each other.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.-See's the walking spider in a minigame-
THAT GODDAMN 3V1 MINIGAME ALL OF MY HATE.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.New Mario Party 9 Trailer:
I have to say, this is the first time I've ever been excited for a Mario Party game! Seriously, this looks like it could be the best new Mario Party in years.
Seriously, boss battles in Mario Party.

There was one boss battle in eight. A fight against Bowser.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.Almost every game had a story mode boss battle.
DS had multiple, too.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Yeah, but having only one boss fight means they never really went anywhere with the idea.
I've never played the DS version, but it looked kind of meh, to be honest.

Uh, that's the same trailer I posted earlier.
There was a boss battle in 3, 4 had boss minigames (though they were just duel minigames really), 5, 7, and 8 had a boss battle against Bowser, and DS had one boss for every board. Though the main difference is that all these boss battles were fought with one player. 9 has everyone helping to take them down. Also these battles aren't restricted to Story Mode.
Oh yeah, we got a Chain Chomp boss too!◊

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Right, sorry. But I still think this will be the best Mario Party in years simply because it seems to be trying to do something different with the board mechanics. And multiplayer Boss Battles are still more awesome than any of the previous Boss Battles in the series. (Seriously, who plays Mario Party for the story mode?)

Only reason i played 5 was for Frightmare.
(And I played 3 for story...)

The Protomen enhanced my life.I played the story mode in DS. I liked the boss battle mini-games... well, most of them, anyway.
I don't mind the new spaces and new means of winning, just the fact that there's no separate paths. Again, to me, that feels like it obviates the need for a board.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaSorry if this is a little late (and a bit pointless), but has anyone noticed where Luigi is on the cover art?
Hint hint: He's in the back.
mario is red, i am green, i try my best, but everyone's meanIs it the fact that he appears to be in a haunted mansion?
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaIn case you guys are interested, one of this month's Club Nintendo rewards is Mario Party 2 for Virtual Console.
I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...I still think it feels like a board. Just think along the lines of Candyland and whatnot, rather than Monopoly, Sorry!, or other boardgames where you go around the board. Besides, there seems to be a bigger focus on board events this time around, so I'm sure things will be still kept fresh. Also, I'm not sure if there's gonna be a minigame after everyone has a turn, considering the advent of the minigame spaces, so I don't think this can really be simplified to a minigame gauntlet.
Interesting. Still have Mario Party 2 for the N64, so I might skip out.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Except those are all games where you go around the board seperately. :P
The minigame spaces thing, unfortunately, puts me way too much in mind of Mario Party Advance, which was... very not well received. A lot of which I think had to do with its fairly monotonous board setup, which was kind of similar. People also chastised its lack of proper multiplayer, which isn't an issue here, but that board itself was not especially exciting.
Although it did bring back Tumble...
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaThere's apparently another playable character in Mario Party 9.
It's Kamek!
Also, Shy Guy and Kamek will be working for Bowser in Story Mode.

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Here's a trailer, but if you don't speak English, sorry. Though you should be able to get the gist of it anyway.
- Critics seem to like this game. In fact, they like it A LOT more than 8.
- Classic Mode is confirmed to be NOT in this game. Sorry!
- Luck based minigames are GONE. This may or may not be a good thing depending on how you look at it.
- Apparently, some of the baddies are playable. Definitely not in story mode though. KOOPA KID'S BACK!
- There are no coins or 50 turn games. (The latter's kind of pointless since the formula changed heavily with this game.)
New trailer! Wow, this actually looks really good!
Anyways, more info revealed.
Fear not vehicle naysayers, you can travel across boards the classic way, too!Never mind. OMN changed their article so all info about the classic mode is out.edited 24th Jan '12 1:07:12 PM by Marioguy128
