I thought of making another char, and want to see whether this can get approved

  • Name: Mikhaus Bravac
  • Appearance: Don't look at his literal brilliance. It will blind you.
  • Age: 57
  • Race: Helghast
  • Gear:
    • Helghast Security Officer Uniform + Personal CP-21 Gasmask
    • Mk. 92-c Taser (max. range 20-25m)
    • Sta19 Reigner Pistol/Machine-pistol (9x19mm AP rounds)
    • Standard Issue Doctor/Surgeon's bag
    • Mk III Tactician's drone - Medical configuration
    • Helmet + Flak vest
    • Various chemicals stored in vials and bottles
  • Power: None, save for science and medicine
  • Skills: Think tank, experienced ER operator and doctor. Graduated from New Helghan University with a Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery before being drafted and serving in New Helghan Security Force as a researcher briefly.
  • Physical: He is a man of science, not a brute! Though as about as well as an untrained average adult male can be.
  • Quick traits: Workaholic. Believes in accomplishment through skills rather than luck and chance. Quick to learn and accept ideas and concepts that might improve his ability as a doctor. Has a rather potent sweet tooth.

Its alright, and I have ideas on how to utilise medical knowledge other than just fixing up others

But back on to the question, is he alright as a character?

Lemon, Fuckyes and I already have very little to do with the doctors....

Your getting a no from me, and I will wait to see what Fuckyes has to say.

This may sound kind of selfish, but unlike every other role on the ship, there are no ways for doctors to be proactive, there always re-active, they can only be involved when people are getting hurt, they require other people to provide them opportunities to do things.

There are so damn few of these opportunities as is, that Fuckyes and I have barely any thing to do with them, because no one fucking lets there characters get injured ever.

Sooo, until people start USING doctors, I will not be okaying any more myself, but will defer to the frenchmen if he has any thing else to say on the mater.

Sorry agian, and yea, feel free to re-submit if people learn in the future that it is okay to have there characters get hurt on a plot, as long as they don't loose whole limbs... and hell as long as we have the limb, we can patch them back up. >.<

...

You know, I thought about a few things

For one, why don't the crew have a sort of field hospital where they can get patched up without having to go use the local services and leave a track? Or incur more cost?

I mean, the hospital can also serve as a facility to say, investigate organic/non-organic beings, or a sterile place to perform maintenance on our more cybernetics-inclined crewmen?

And the problem, I think is that the chars themselves are not aware most of the times that we have a doctor by virtue of them interacting so rarely with the crew. When was the last time our doctors have a chat with other crew members outside of medical services?

It doesn't have to be for our crews either. A field doctor can also say, treat allies, or keep someone else that is NOT our crew for a given objective.

@Sunny: Well yeah but I need to work on harming my combat characters more than once in a while.

What combat characters I do play, anyway.

For one, why don't the crew have a sort of field hospital where they can get patched up without having to go use the local services and leave a track? Or incur more cost?

They DO, both Edward and Aura set up where ever they stay with a bunch of medical tools, and then the ship itself has a fully equiped medbay, but as stated before these services are so unused that apperntly you did not even know they existed. >.<

Medbay has a cybernetics lab even, just like you mentioned, but people only used it when they lost limbs, also known as only Lupo, and I guess Six for all of 5 minutes. :/

Or when Eve needed maintenance, no one else bothered to use it to maintain there synthetic characters...

And the problem, I think is that the chars themselves are not aware most of the times that we have a doctor by virtue of them interacting so rarely with the crew. When was the last time our doctors have a chat with other crew members outside of medical services?

They should be, every one is given a service list when they join even if they have not met them

Any new charecter should know for instance, the doctors, the QM, and the Ho P even if they have not personaly met.

Also there is only so much the doctors can do without medical services to do, Aura has been around since 2012, and Edward since like 2013.... there both extreamly long runners, to the point where they need things to do on occassion or we have to re-tread.

It doesn't have to be for our crews either. A field doctor can also say, treat allies, or keep someone else that is NOT our crew for a given objective.

Agian, they already do and they have.

The thing is these situations are all so damn rare already, that it does not mater. :/

  • Sun, where is the medbay?

  • They can chat with the crew, go to the ground to be there just in case, and I don't know, do non-doctors things like participating in local events? Go hang out with their crew mates outside of combat situations or even when they don't need a doctor?

  • You sure? I mean, was a doctor there during the Wasp-Nanobot infection during the arc in Neo Seattle?

Medbay is on the ship, but it is only really used for extreme situations, there is a feild treatment at where ever the group stays, and even beyond that Aura can do her medicine remotley as long as some one carried some of her injectors with them and contacted her over coms....

And beyond that Edward often goes into the front line, being a combat medic....

Do any of these matter? Nope, still no one gets hurt.

As for non doctor things, again, were pretty taped unless some one initializes it, the characters probably are bored enough that they have considered poping the medbays pills.

And the last one was WAOA, not WAOAA, Kerberos was never hired on.

Thats the problem. Medbay is at ship, which is not easy to have access to in the field. Having a sort of Hospital truck in the field would allow the medic crew to be on the field the same way the Science truck would allow the Science team to be on the field.

And they are a doctor, true. But they are also characters. Having say, the doctor wandering around, asking 'Hey, how are you?' and making small talks, as well as asking about what the crew is doing, or finding out what the locals are like will give them things to do outside of doctoring.

And while they are not hired, chars from both WAOA and WAOAA are there. The Kerberos corp is not hired, but some of its employees partook in the action there anyway.

THEY DO LEMON! You seem to only be reading half that. :/

They set up in the hotel, every, single, time, and they can already treat patients in the field either remotely over coms, or there in person depending on which character.

As for the second point, there is only so much you can do that before you run out of things to talk about, a fact that almost killed WAOA when it went through a long no plot spell.

Outside from the field treatment being mentioned just now, I can't recall it being mentioned in the hotel, or it being set-up. Is it implied or expected to be always there?

You are very right on the second point though, and not much more I can say on that

I flat had her set it up, in the hotel, 2 days ago.

Edwards is always there...
