@Fighteer, you're interpretation of the Templars with relation to the French monarchy is a little bit off, though this comes from me reading Unity novel. Really, it was less the group as a whole and more just the French chapter when under the control of Germain was there and even then, it was less about opposing the ideas in themselves and way more about their personal shit.

That's the first trailer I have seen that makes me interested in the game. Interesting we get a lot of Marxist rhetoric ("Capitalism steals from the poor!") or Evie Frye paraphrasing Leon Trotsky. Could Syndicate be the game where Karl Marx (who lived in Victorian London and published Das Kapital Part I in 1867, year before this game) finally gets the Historical Hero Upgrade that armchair Marxists have been dreaming of?

I do have problems in that the Frye twins look too nondescript, they are too generic looking. Actually all the NP Cs I have seen in the game look really bland. There aren't any of the unique designs you got in the previous games. Even UNITY, Frenchzio Dorian aside, you did have unique looking NP Cs. Evie Frye especially looks like a random NPC from AC 3 while Jacob Frye, if you remove his outfit would look the same as Shay Cormac or Haytham.

At least Elise had to GRAPHICS PORN TO THE MAX Red Hair Style and gorgeous... everything really. She was fascinating to watch as her animations are rather well done.

"For me being an asshole would be an appeal of being a Templar. I mean in AC 1, one reason we come to appreciate or understand the Assassins is their whole At Least I Admit It philosophy. You have Altair who is initially a very unsympathetic guy who slowly wins us over. Then later we see the Templar targets in the same game, initially they are jerks then their deathbed monologue has sympathetic moments"

Actually I find those moment really narmy at best because they where jerk 100% time on the screen but get a little sappy moment before dying? sorry, no sympathy overall, maybe jerkass have a point at best

"ROGUE is a story of self-righteousness, a situation so fantastic and contrived that it beggars disbelief"

I my opinion is because they try to fix something in the orignal games: the white and black morality, I meant said what you want about assasin being doubious and shady but overall the conflict is "one world order wannabe vs freedom lovers" In any moment I find the assains in any other way that the good guys who maybe need to be harsh to time to time, rouge try to paint the whole thing more grey but it come out as whitewashing, same with Elise who is a atempt to be a "good templar" and coming across as in name only.

"when Bioshock Infinite came out, many people didn't like the story making the White Hero right to oppose the psycho-revolutionaries led by the Black Lady who leads them. The criticism was harsh enough that the developers retconned it in a DLC where it turns out she's secretly a hero all along"

Why people said dewitt is white? he is half native(or have native ancestry in him) he is only able to pass as white but that point make the plot of the game.

"The narrative of revolutionaries turning as bad as their predecessors is not really true if we look at history."

Castro, the kims, camboya, soviet will glaly have a word or two about it, and is clear the vox populy is inspared from all this groups who turn around to murder everyone, also a point in bioshock is that utopias or movement can be born more of personal interest and some fixation with and idea in particular: andrew ryan create rapture so he can win, sofia is a control freak who wants to elimine free will, comstock is trying to erased his action by moving away and Daizy wants just to destroy all of it.

But the thing is: it was apply to the worst place at all, American never face this kind of threat(in fact quite the oposite, they promote some of their own in the cold war) so it comes as artificial way to make them umsympathy, even more by having a black women facing a old-white men who is uber racist, having been this other place it maybe suit better.

Connor wanted peace with his dad right up until he figured out he was being manipulated by him, and even then he only actually killed him when he had no other choice.

It'd give the game some relevance to the mythos, at least.

[up]

I suspected much the same after the trailer came out. They need to put the Sage plot forward after all. That said, I have a pretty good idea who the Sage in SYNDICATE is going to be. The Sages are historical figures (Jacques de Molay, Black Bart, Thomas Germain), singular people who write texts (Black Bart's Pirate articles, Molay's Book, John from IT's Instruments). This is 1868, one year after the publication of Das Kapital, Part 1 and the trailers are spouting a lot of Marxist quotations. So the Sage in SYNDICATE is Karl Marx.

How do you explain Thomas Kavanagh?

How do you explain Thomas Kavanagh?

What needs to be explained? I said that the Sages tend to be historical figures who write a lot of text. Thomas Kavanagh is not historical but he does write a lot. So he qualifies. Black Bart had his Pirates Code and he's historical (and awesome!). We've only seen the Sage in two games so we don't know how they will take it forward, especially since they keep changing their minds and retconning lore to chase some new gimmick. With Juno and Aita, the idea is to build an invisible threat, a force in the Internet to unleash The Singularity, and also to deal with the power of ideas. Black Bart said that, "Ah... all Men desire to live by a Code, or a Creed, yes? Yet when pressed, most defer to their instincts rather than the Laws that bind them. But what is the appeal of a creed if it does not yoke all men to like behaviour?"

Black Bart as a Sage is a guy who twists the Pirate idea of freedom and equality into brutal discipline and power by his Pirate Articles, likewise Germain takes the Templars away from a moderate, nurturing authority and power phase towards a totalitarian govern behind the scenes phase, making them The Illuminati. Since we had a neutral Sage, a Templar Sage, the next step is of course an Assassin Sage...someone who takes their love for liberty and freeing people but submitting it to a code to yoke them in, and I think Karl Marx is just the man for the job.

But, what if Jacob and Evie turn out to be a Sage??? That could be a rather shocking plot twist.

It would make more sense if they were identical twin and not fraternal twins.

Yeah, I just looked into a few more interviews.

It seems that they've been a bit internally inconsistent because I've seen some interviews say fraternal and some say identical.

JulianLapostat Since: Feb, 2014

They are clearly fraternal twins. But I do think the eye colours is no coincidence. Especially since the Frye Twins Trailer prominent features close-ups of the eyes and implicitly gives it priority. This wasn't the case in the earlier Assassins, like Altair, Ezio, Connor had brown eyes with Edward being the lone Aryan (blonde and blue) in a sea of Brown eyed handsome men.

I think their parents were either Sages or that each is half-a-Sage. They are clearly trying to explore this genetic reincarnation thing to the hilt.

Idk. It might just be odd camera angles, but I could buy them being Identical Twins. I've met twins before that are 'Identical Twins' and look it in childhood pictures, but they look different enough in adulthood that people are more likely to think they're simply siblings before Identical Twins. I could but it.

Plus, wouldn't be the first time I've heard of fiction getting how twins work worng
