Fight smart, not fair.I.. Uh.. I'm not sure if it's ok to say this, but I think there's a Nedroid strip that demonstrates this. Give me a while.
EDIT: Found it, but I misremembered slightly. It's not quite this trope.

This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish. That picture with the monkey is pretty awesome!
Current project: Cleaning up the Chrono Crusade examples one at a time. God help me.They look like Brainy Specs to me.
That said we can definitely find a better picture.
How about this? Forehead of Doom, Labcoat, ect

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!NVM I misread the trope I though this was just about how brainy people wear glasses.
This wouldnt work would it? [1]◊ (Bah bad quality...)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Yeah, the trope title is pretty misleading.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.We really should take this to TRS. This trope isn't about what it sounds like it's about.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickEveryone'sSmarterWithGlasses, perhaps?

That's not really the trope. This is just wearing glasses to pretend to be smart. Like I said, it needs a TRS.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThat's what I was implying by the "Everyone".
That title still sounds like glasses show someone's smart, rather than people pretend to be smart by wearing glasses.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickHomer Simpson wearing glasses. The scene where he finds them in the bathroom and quotes the Scarecrow from The Wizard Of Oz regarding the sides of an isosceles triangle, for those searching for the image.
GIS gives me this: [1]◊
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.Let's make a TRS thread.
EDIT: Talk about the trope here.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThis is only up for a rename, so we can keep talking, right? One possibility I see in the examples is Linkara wearing two pairs of glasses before a literary analysis bit (one pair his regular glasses, one pair for the literary analysis).
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things. What about this (Safe for work just from a hentai though) [1]◊
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!
I just realized that this trope was probably named from a Linkara quote. And that video produces a pretty bad image. Anyway, here's Brad Pitt with lots of glasses◊.
Thanks for including the context, Raso. I didn't quite get it until I saw the whole page. The cut image kinda makes it look like they're her glasses, which makes the dialogue kinda confusing.
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.Sorry it was just an idea we could use other panels too if desired.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Sorry if that came across as sarcastic, I was being sincere. I think that's a good example, just a slightly confusing crop. Maybe including the first panel would help?

Currently reading a Sci-Fi Dystopian Murder Mystery Forbidden Romance Adventure Thriller In Space. Your argument is invalid. What about the spiral glasses that Naru is wearing in Raso's avatar? That's sort of a Japanese variant.
This one◊ seems perfect!

The trope's about people wearing glasses who don't need them, just to appear brainy/cute/etc. There's really nothing in the picture that indicates any of that, besides the caption which mentions that you "don't see the glasses again".
I'm not really sure if this is picture-able, since part of the requirement is that the character doesn't need them to see. Unless we use a comic panel where a character says they don't need their glasses like...? (I know there's some point that Satoshi says this to Daisuke (and another time he tells Risa) in DN Angel but I can't remember what chapter.)
